I actually take anti-psychotic medication myself and it has really helped me and I'm sure that some children really are mentally ill...but it's essential that other less damaging methods are tried first. @IcyAir0 I only discover now things i do have, psychlogically, and i def had when i was younger, just not discovered. It's not that simple, these kids DO have problems, different from other kids. Though i sometimes get smacked when my anxiety was worse, because my parents didn't really know anything about it, and it helped me be disciplined about it and learned to minimize it. But I had mild forms and so i don't think smacking these kids will eventually help. 2 and 3 are nonesense and untrue.

I definitely had oppositional defiant disorder (that name seems hilarious to me, like a double negative) but my mum never gave up on me lol it was very stressful on her and it involved a lot of screaming but now that I'm older I tell her sometimes how much I really appreciate it. Now I'm moved out and in university and holding down a great job. Medication free :)

I didn't put my shoes on when I was younger, mainly because I wanted someone else to do it for me. Not to put too fine a point on it, but me playing up was very short lived because my parents didn't put up with it. So I got over it. I also have a cousin who freaks out whenever he loses games, it puts him in a bad mood for a whole day. We ignore it; he gets over it. I'm not a psychiatrist, but it looks like this kid needs boundaries and rules and for people to stop mollycoddling him.
i used to not like to shower either, i learned the hard way because my parents let me go to school smelly and after a couple of times of classmates making fun of me i never went to school smelly again lol. also i used to throw board games and my nintendo controller when i was younger. even if i say so myself, i havent turned out to bad =P

God, Hugh just needs to be left alone sometimes- I have depression and anxiety too, and I need to deal with that alone. It's stressful to never have a moment away from concerned parents, it just adds more stress.

Hugh reminds me of myself, I used to be such a spoiled kid as well.. but my parents just told me to DO THE FUCK WHAT THEY SAID or I´d get it.. I screamed at them that I hated them and I hoped they got cancer, shit like that. My parents kept dealing with me, telling me to stop being a brat, grounding me and stuf. Then I grew up, and I realised I was being childish. I´m more than fine now, doing great in school etc., I´m happy I dont have hole in my brain bcus of meds. Thank god I had good parents

It really seems to me that these kids are misbehaving because it's almost expected of them due to their diagnosis, especially the boy with OCD. I actually take anti-psychotic medication myself and it has really helped me and I'm sure that some children really are mentally ill...but it's essential that other less damaging methods are tried first. At the end of the day some kids are just naughty and need to learn to behave. I'm 14, English and recently diagnosed with childhood psychosis.

What's wrong with these kid's is they have failures as parents. I've noticed in the past 10 years more and more parents let their kids RUN them instead of the other way around. Funny how I have a lot of African friends who do well in school and are raised in what I would call overly strict households. But they don't seem to have any of these middle class white problems. I'm not saying it's a race thing fyi but it seems definitely a Western spoilt syndrome.

I think Hugh does have some kind mental disorder, but I also think he is using them as an excuse to get his own way. We heard in the first clip that he likes being labeled with ADHD, Aspengers, Bi-polar etc.. Perhaps if these parents would step up and work out their problems (e.g; dog peeing on the floor) their son may function better out in society and in the house. He knows his parents are not going to do anything except go out and get him more drugs.

The kid just sounds like he's repeating everything adults around him are saying, and by doing this it's probably making him worse, as every kid has tantrums and gets angry but he's being told he has problems and how would that make him feel? @IcyAir0 I only discover now things i do have, psychlogically, and i def had when i was younger, just not discovered. It's not that simple, these kids DO have problems, different from other kids. Though i sometimes get smacked when my anxiety was worse, because my parents didn't really know anything about it, and it helped me be disciplined about it and learned to minimize it. But I had mild forms and so i don't think smacking these kids will eventually help. 2 and 3 are nonesense and untrue.

I was a LOT like Hugh when I was a kid. I definitely had oppositional defiant disorder (that name seems hilarious to me, like a double negative) but my mum never gave up on me lol it was very stressful on her and it involved a lot of screaming but now that I'm older I tell her sometimes how much I really appreciate it. Now I'm moved out and in university and holding down a great job. Medication free :)

I didn't put my shoes on when I was younger, mainly because I wanted someone else to do it for me. Not to put too fine a point on it, but me playing up was very short lived because my parents didn't put up with it. So I got over it. I also have a cousin who freaks out whenever he loses games, it puts him in a bad mood for a whole day. We ignore it; he gets over it. I'm not a psychiatrist, but it looks like this kid needs boundaries and rules and for people to stop mollycoddling him.

My little brother exhibited all these traits when he was younger, but he's grown out of them without medication, and is now a 'normal' teenager - whatever that means.
It seems so wrong to use all this scientific language to evaluate the behaviour of a child, who has simply not grown up yet.

It's an individual problem but the roots are much deeper, in the society and how it has developed. I think if you took some of them out of the US and put them in different environments their attitudes wouldn't last five minutes, people would have something to say them!
