They always give higher estimated mileage by 20%. And that's 26 mpg highway! So highway and city would be about 20 mpg. In real world driving, you'd get about 17. That's going to blow when gas goes through the roof.
We honestly don't know how the Camaro will do until its been on the market for a bit. The reviews have been great; But I seriously only use them for stats since I'm jaded about official reviewers with so much money floating around.
I'm so wanting to deal drugs or prostitute myself for this car. My childhood dream was a Camaro back in '99 and could not afford one as a high school student. Perhaps, the rebirth of this legend is a sign for me to sell a kidney and buy one. GM has been having problems with its appeal and structural integrity. However, you can't clump every car in the same group since there are always gems in many brands. Also, LS engines are great.<-reason why people put LS's in their project cars.
This will be a great car. The advances in chassis tuning and engines is phenomenal. The car may be heavy but most 400 hp 4-seat coupes these days are in this weight range unfortunately. It won't handle quite like an M3 but will be the best handling "Muscle car" out there.
And the standards for figuring a car's gas mileage have changed a lot since 2002. It'll get slightly worse mpg but be a lot safer and handle better despite changing to macpherson struts.
Impressive stats?? 400 hp....Gas will be about 7 bucks in 2010. So if they ever produce this smoking pile of crap.....It will flop, big time. Oh, and shut up all you little boys, that like the looks!! Are you going to buy one? Didn't think so.

I'd just like to point out that you're bashing the fit and finish of a brand new GM vehicle and implying that it won't be as good as your 87. Have you been inside a GM car made in the last 10 years? The last 3 years? It wouldn't seem so because they've made tremendous strides in interior fit and finish since the Malibu and Cadillac CTS lead the charge. Not to mention that GM is right up there with Toyota in perceived quality surveys. Cut the mullet.
I work in the parts department for a GM dealership. I'm around new GM cars all day. I know what they are about. Some models have improved in quality, others are just plain junk. It seems GM's intitiative to improve quality standards has come a little to late. Most people have switched to more reliable vehicles with better fit and finish and resale value (mostly imports).

Of course you would think GM would improve the Malibu and CTS. They were both garbage cars to begin with. How reliable they are now we still have the test of time to tell. Frankly, I wouldn't be the idiot to dish out my money to find out. Both have notoriously bad resale values and terrible out of warranty repair costs.

And you actually think the 87 IROC would be better quality than this new one? If you work in a gm parts department you're obviously blind because you would be able to tell the difference in quality fro an 87 IROC and any new GM car.
To attribute GM's woes to people's "word of mouth" is absurd. The head gasket and intake gasket problems in the 3.4 and 3.8's between 1998-2003 put a HUGE dent in GM's quality track record. Tell that to the millions of people who dished out an average of $1200 for repairs that were really unnecessary. Not to mention the suspension designs and the quality of the suspension parts are weak.
Yes, I'd take my 21 year old GM over the new garbage.
We just got through a HUGE recall on the new CTS rear pinion seals. Seems it was a bad design and the were leaking fluid. This is on brand new vihicles with hardly and mileage on them. Some owners were blowing out their rear ends even.
You're talking about the dexcool settlement. It's been settled. It was a blemish on GMs record. And all companies have recalls. I believe Toyota recently did one that affected all cars in their fleet. Not just a single model.
Maybe your supposed working for GM is making you think they're the only ones with problems? And I do not. I don't even currently own a GM car. I just happen to know their quality has gone up in the last few years.
LOL with the hating on a V6 motor, GM has to make a profit with this car, and only having a V8 available is not the smart way to make that profit. Many buyers, such as myself, can't afford to put fuel into a big V8 as much as I love the V8.. I hope it is true that the Camaro's V6 will put out 300hp, if so, I'm sold.

well 80percent of those v6 models are getting there ass kicked in the street. Trust me I have a 90CAMAR0 RS with a terrible v6. But it will be replaced by a 350 cubic inch motor with edelbrock heads. were talking 400+ hp.

No doubt. My Millenia S generates 91 hp/liter. I think some of the latest muscle cars are only around 69 hp/liter. Problem is the Miller cycle engine was only 2.3 liters, LOL! They should've made it 6.0 liters. My GTA has a 5.7 in it. It's only 10 hp more than the Mazda. Go figure.

This car does not impress. Bringing back a gas guzzler while the economy is suffering! It's a road to non creative ideas, it's just an old view sold under the name of great muscle car history. It's not going to cut it a waste of money. I think GM needs to get up to gear with rest of the competition, and face the challenges in a new era, that can provide practical solutions to peoples daily life. They always give higher estimated mileage by 20%. And that's 26 mpg highway! So highway and city would be about 20 mpg. In real world driving, you'd get about 17. That's going to blow when gas goes through the roof.

We honestly don't know how the Camaro will do until its been on the market for a bit. The reviews have been great; But I seriously only use them for stats since I'm jaded about official reviewers with so much money floating around.

I'm so wanting to deal drugs or prostitute myself for this car. My childhood dream was a Camaro back in '99 and could not afford one as a high school student. Perhaps, the rebirth of this legend is a sign for me to sell a kidney and buy one. GM has been having problems with its appeal and structural integrity. However, you can't clump every car in the same group since there are always gems in many brands. Also, LS engines are great.<-reason why people put LS's in their project cars.

This will be a great car. The advances in chassis tuning and engines is phenomenal. The car may be heavy but most 400 hp 4-seat coupes these days are in this weight range unfortunately. It won't handle quite like an M3 but will be the best handling "Muscle car" out there.
And the standards for figuring a car's gas mileage have changed a lot since 2002. It'll get slightly worse mpg but be a lot safer and handle better despite changing to macpherson struts.

It's WONDERFUL if it EVER comes out.... and if you really want a car that is heavier, has cheaper front suspension, much worse gas mileage, and costs $10,000 more than the last Camaro (2002 --- which was actually designed way back near 1990...!!!)

I own an '87 IROC and would NEVER trade it for this crappy new version.
Hate the styling. Fit and finish will be crappy ( like many new GM vehicles). Resale value will be garbage). It'll probably have alot of warranty issues like many GM vehicles.
Gas in a v8 version will be laughable. Poor timing. Maybe we'll see it in 2012??
Save your money folks and buy Toyota.

I'd just like to point out that you're bashing the fit and finish of a brand new GM vehicle and implying that it won't be as good as your 87. Have you been inside a GM car made in the last 10 years? The last 3 years? It wouldn't seem so because they've made tremendous strides in interior fit and finish since the Malibu and Cadillac CTS lead the charge. Not to mention that GM is right up there with Toyota in perceived quality surveys. Cut the mullet.

I work in the parts department for a GM dealership. I'm around new GM cars all day. I know what they are about. Some models have improved in quality, others are just plain junk. It seems GM's intitiative to improve quality standards has come a little to late. Most people have switched to more reliable vehicles with better fit and finish and resale value (mostly imports).
Ever wonder why the news for GM keeps getting worse and worse as time goes by??

Of course you would think GM would improve the Malibu and CTS. They were both garbage cars to begin with. How reliable they are now we still have the test of time to tell. Frankly, I wouldn't be the idiot to dish out my money to find out. Both have notoriously bad resale values and terrible out of warranty repair costs.

They have improved quite a bit in the last few years but people still believe they're inferior because of people like you who claim they suck. And you actually think the 87 IROC would be better quality than this new one? If you work in a gm parts department you're obviously blind because you would be able to tell the difference in quality fro an 87 IROC and any new GM car.

To attribute GM's woes to people's "word of mouth" is absurd. The head gasket and intake gasket problems in the 3.4 and 3.8's between 1998-2003 put a HUGE dent in GM's quality track record. Tell that to the millions of people who dished out an average of $1200 for repairs that were really unnecessary. Not to mention the suspension designs and the quality of the suspension parts are weak.
Yes, I'd take my 21 year old GM over the new garbage.

We just got through a HUGE recall on the new CTS rear pinion seals. Seems it was a bad design and the were leaking fluid. This is on brand new vihicles with hardly and mileage on them. Some owners were blowing out their rear ends even.

You're talking about the dexcool settlement. It's been settled. It was a blemish on GMs record. And all companies have recalls. I believe Toyota recently did one that affected all cars in their fleet. Not just a single model.
Maybe your supposed working for GM is making you think they're the only ones with problems? And I do not. I don't even currently own a GM car. I just happen to know their quality has gone up in the last few years.

LOL with the hating on a V6 motor, GM has to make a profit with this car, and only having a V8 available is not the smart way to make that profit. Many buyers, such as myself, can't afford to put fuel into a big V8 as much as I love the V8.. I hope it is true that the Camaro's V6 will put out 300hp, if so, I'm sold.

Well I got rid of my 2002 Camaro 35th anniversary car. Dont know what I'll buy next but people 400 hp thats it. Guess they can never make it better than the vette. Shame on you GM!!!! Try 550 HP at the very least make it beat the Shelby! So I don't think I will buy a camaro till I see serious attempt at buiding a fast motor.

the new camaro will be sick, also hybrid version of it would be good lol, because by the end of the summer the gas will go more than 5.00$ for a gallon,, so probably half of them will be just sleeping in the garage waiting for the gas to drop,,,I own a 00 Z28 6SPEED, its a cool ride but, it looks like it will spend most of the summer in the garage

this car is good looking car, but could be better. if they would have mad it look more like a 67-69 it would be better looking and not a mess of modern day design. as far as the IRS i think it will make the car expensive and out price its slef like what happened to the GTO of these later years. i just hope it isn;t a flop like some of gm's ideas. the mustang and will always sell more cause of the price and styling.the challenger will sell to few but will be pricey and be 2nd pick next to charger

No doubt. My Millenia S generates 91 hp/liter. I think some of the latest muscle cars are only around 69 hp/liter. Problem is the Miller cycle engine was only 2.3 liters, LOL! They should've made it 6.0 liters. My GTA has a 5.7 in it. It's only 10 hp more than the Mazda. Go figure.

American designer like Chris Bangle designs German car - BMW. American car company (like Ford) owns a swedish manufacturer - Volvo. French - Renault with Nissan, .. and so forth. I think we're in a global stage now where it doesnt matter who owns who or who designs what brand of cars. its down to the economics of the trade and in this case - design talent and skill. I think its good to see an Asian (Korean btw) designing an American car. Doesnt Hyundai have an American lead designer too?
