  • Ah nostalgia. I can still remember the sweet candy aroma that permeated the entire ride

  • Anybody getting a Bernstien Bears vibe from this?

  • you know I actually never noticed that you put a link to my petition. Thank though! Next I'll make one to bring back extraTERRORestial Alien Encounter!

  • bringback the dinosaur ride. its the best ride ever.

  • 7:08 Oh Look! It's a Jazzberry Band

  • this is looks lame. the need to bring back the dinosaurs ride instead and it so bettttter.

  • @rextony22 0_O

Bear-y tales was before the Dinosaur ride.

  • @althegamefreak

the dinosaurs is way better. it sort of like pirates of the carribean to which is of knotts own version.

  • @rextony22 you know not of what you speak . dinosaurs was sorry compared to what this was.

  • @rextony22 this ride was 10 times the ride dinosaurs was ..

  • @rextony22 The dino ride fucking sucked! Knotts Berry Tales was the classic themed ride that honored the entire park. Not to mention during Scary Farm they really decked this ride out. It was the best attraction during Halloween.

  • Remember how when you got off this ride you walked down that long cement lined walkway that led you to that rad arcade! Does anyone know where that table of pies ended up? And the Bakery sign? Are they somewhere in the park, still? Did they sell them off?

  • @eees888 most of that stuff actually went to the trash and a few employees rescued some of it . that arcade was awesome .. it was a combination of state of the art 70's games like that horse race and a collection of clasic gamnes too.. i miss that .

  • Canadian said "eh" extremecopters com

  • Thanks for the memories!

  • I know this may be the wrong place to ask, but since a lot of people here know about amusement parks and rides, I was wondering if someone could tell me which park it was that has/had this "dark ride" called "Noah's Ark" or something....it was super cute, and the whole park looked so wonderful- I saw it on a T.V. special once about amusement park dark rides, and I always wanted to go but didn't catch the name of the place. :-(

    Anyone know by any chance?

  • THE LAST TIME I WAS AT " KNOTT'S BERRY FARM " , WAS

    IN DECEMBER ( 1978 ) . AND I REMEMBER THIS RIDE

IMPLICITLY ! " THE KNOTT'S BEARY TALES " RIDE WAS

AN INCREDIBLY WONDERFUL RIDE ! I REMEMEBER

MY BROTHER AND I RIDING " KNOTT'S BEARY TALES "

AT LEAST ( 10 ) TEN TIMES ! IT WAS SUCH A MAGICAL

JOURNEY, THROUGH ALL SORTS OF GENRES . MY

FAVORITE ROOM WAS, THE DARK ROOM ; " THE LAND

OF THE FLUORESCENT FROGS , MUSHROOMS , AND

LILY PADS ". THANK YOU KNOTT'S BERRY FARM !

  • Interestingly, this ride was designed by Disney Imagineer Rolly Crump!

  • @dadicks I have the theme song too Uploaded the full theme in 3 parts.

  • @althegamefreak Thanks for that. Noticed that shortly after I sent that email; hence why it's removed. I also learned thanks to you that I've been singing the song with an incorrect word or two. Thanks again for posting and your response.

  • @dadicks your welcome. :)

  • This is great. Thanks!

This and the log ride were the ONLY major reasons that my family would go to Knott's in the 70's-80's. After they took out Knott's Bear-y Tales, the park as a whole didn't have much interest for us.

Doods, you should be putting your petition on facebook. You'd get the votes there. I'll sign yours and put one up on facebook right now.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! um... by the way are the guys filming Canadian or doing a MacKensie brothers bit? Either way it's great!

  • I remember when riding this ride you would smell boysenberris or raspberries. Something like that

  • @hkitty847 it was Boysen Berry

  • @hkitty847 Each section of the ride had it's own fragrance, actually.

  • Best ride they ever had. Why the F would they ever replace it with that horrible dinosaur ride that had nothing to do with Knott's Berry Farm. This was the classic ride of the whole park. They need to wake up and put it back exactly like it was. Why do all good things come to an end? Because people are stupid.

  • how sweet i remember this.. thank you

  • We used to call this the blow-job ride

  • @uckthat HA HA HA HA HA HA HA LOL. i cant imagine inside the ride all that action happens lol

  • I think whoever designed this was on drugs. but its pretty

  • @ebp283 No its how creativity was back then.

  • Thank you so much! I miss this ride! I had my first kiss on this ride, which was interrupted by one of the ride operators shining a bright flashlight in our faces.

  • @blandsultan your welcome. Lol at least you got the kiss which is good. If this ride is still around i would kiss my wonderful Girlfriend in thunder cave or the fair.lol

  • Men, I now present to you, the Lost Country Bear *cough* Its-a-small-world *cough* Jamboree!!!! (Starts playing fiddle)

  • Men, I now present to you, the Lost Country bear Jamboree!!!! (Starts playing fiddle)

  • UPDATE: This video was taken of it's last day. certain parts that were cut out like the country fair can be seen on Chirs Merrit's Site Knotts Presrved.

  • That's not Bob and Doug it's a couple of douche stoners that wish they were!

  • oh ok. lol. i pitched the volume one time on this video and i think those dudes just pictched the video to a low pitch to ake their voices sound deep. Plus you can tell by the music.

  • thanks for sharing, this is cool

  • This looks like an awesome ride... too bad it closed down. I'm really not a fan of Knotts anymore. I went on Friday, it sorta sucked. All thrill rides now.

  • My friend knows the guy who has this whole ride packed away in containers. I don't know what he is going to do with it.

  • Really???? wow i just hope the whole ride could be used to be revived for people like me.

  • What they should do is make it a maze /ride for the halloween season

  • I still miss this ride, one of my favorites.

  • Rockin' Cool. I Loved this ride when I was young. The Whole ride smelled like Boysenberry's. I like the old school video work with the Blinding Light attachment!

    Nothing short of Fantastic Cheers

  • oh I loved this ride when I was a kid. I loved the jumping frogs and would ride it over and over just to see them! And that great smell of berry's when you first enter the ride...ah, I loved it.

  • 2> A Giant sized Pinball Machine called Hercules.

The Pinball was the size of a soft ball!!

    Thanks for the memories.

  • Wow, I remember the arcade near beary tales.

Two unforgettable classic games at the entrance.

1> A Virtual Western ShootOut Showdown game.

You wore a gun holster in front of a video screen and would duel with real life size video taped cowboys . You could not pull out your gun from the holster until a signal told you to draw and shoot!! This game always had a crowd around it. Knotts was the only place that I had seen this game. and Id been to alot of arcades.

  • I loved this ride, what a sad loss, but glad it was preserved on video.

  • Someone REALLY liked Strange Brew and/or SCTV.

  • I always LOVED the 'berry aroma, on this ride. Was also a blast, during the Halloween Haunts.

  • when i heard that they were going to replace this i actually wrote to knotts asking them not to. i was probably 14 I loved this ride so much. just packed with detail. thanks for posting!

  • I worked this ride the Summer of 1980...and the Halloween Haunts the same year. Boy the stories I could tell of what I used to see happen in there!

  • back then was there like many overlays besides Knott's Scary Tales when you worked in the ride during haunt?

  • back in the early 80's the overlays were Bear-y Tales, Haunted Shack, Log Ride and Mine Ride. The rest were usually mazes in the Ghost Town area. Haunt was the best time to work that is for sure. Winter wasn't...it was so slow and boring!

  • so it was like boring at the time in winter.even in bear-y tales?

  • Back in the early 80's... park attendance was really low ..in fact KBF used be closed on Wed & Thursdays. On a good Haunt night...there'd be 30k people in the park.. some winter days 2k.

  • well i hate to be negative but that crappy ride that replaced it help the park along with tim van gorder make the park go downhill and this ride was the jewel of the park along with the old rides cedar fail replaced.

  • Thank you so much for posting this, I vaguely remember riding this as a child, however I remember enjoying it nonetheless. THANK YOU!

Quick side note: I think the two hippies who you speak of are Canadian, EH?

  • Wow I've been looking for this video. Thanks for posting this.I remember having the Beary tales map of the ride. I do hope they bring this back.

  • Waaaah! I miss this ride! It was my favorite. Knott's really needs to go back to its roots and add some theme rides rather than all the crummy coasters! Thanks for posting this video. Brings back nice memories.

  • @fun4eileen and shoot itself in the foot? Its a business, a theme park business and needs to compete in a competitive market. Any step backwards would move them further away from the competitive market.

  • I can't believe a once great park like Knott's went from this to a collection of coasters and crap.

  • @malcb001 To reply to Knott's history, the late 60's was kind of a dark time for KBF. It was open admission, so ANYBODY could enter the park and often would. They didn't have great security, so you could see drug deals and prositution there.

The 70's and early 80's saw some big changes to the park and really cleaned up thier image. The park going from an actual farm, to a road-side attraction, to a full theme park has never really had a definitive image. But I liked the 70's-80's time best.

  • @malcb001 As much as I think the same thing, and I miss this ride, due to Knotts having such a small property I don't think they would get the attendance they get now, I can understand it from the business aspect of it. I went to Knotts (The last time) around 1987, the place was really empty, we went on the few roller coaster rides numerous times, the lines were no more than 5-10 minutes. We did everything there was to do there in a couple hours and we were bored.

  • @Network23549 yeah thats terrible. the ride should of never left in the first place but did get relocated as a funhouse in camp snoopy. currently a few figures brought to the mechanized kingdom event brought something very interesting. Ken Stack who owns liberty ranch in orange county owns alot of surviving props. He's Planning to make a small amusement park that holds retired Rides. which means Bear-y Tales Might be more likely to Return. i will post a video on this news soon. Fingers Crossed.

  • @malcb001 Well put malcb001!!!

  • @malcb001 It's because Cedar Fair pounded all the nails into it's coffin.

  • @malcb001 its like they stuffed as many coasters as possible in that little plot of land. pillars everywhere.

  • for me it was all about the frog forest... trippy little things. it was a great ride to get outta the heat. it took me years to fig out that it had a story line, then they took it out. :(

  • Unreal. I did not think I would ever see this ride again - especially not on video. I'll never forget that berry smell!

  • OMG! Thank you SOOO much for posting this! This was my all-time favorite ride when I was a kid...I didn't go on Kingdom of the Dinosaurs until I was a teen because I was SO mad they changed it!

Oh, and, NO it is not "totally random." There IS a storyline, which is the wolf being a pie thief, and the bear family and their animal friends ran a pie factory, and you follow their progress, to, if I remember right, the fair or something like "the Berry Farm." This is terrific! Thanks!

  • Never rode this. Only a baby at the time. Thanks for the vid! I've read about this ride but never knew what it looked like.

  • your welcome. i never saw the ride myself too but i went into the funhouse version when the dinosaur ride replaced it.

  • I remember riding this ride as a little kid when I was about maybe 4 or 5. The thing I remember the most was the spider room which had a lot of spiders and one of the spiders tries to come down toward you when you are entering a tunnel. Sadly the spider room looks too dark in this video, I don't remember the spider room being that dark when I rode this ride.

  • yeah when a ride gets recorded it comes out dark.btw it really had spiders coming down?

  • Yes in the spider room there were spiders hanging from the ceiling and when you were about to exit the spider room one spider hanging just above the tunnel exit would try to come down toward you then go back up again. You can hear one of the guys say "all these spiders in here" in this video.

  • Wow, Al. When you asked me to review this, I didn't know what to expect, but although I understand it's a children's ride, it's so freakin random! It's like, no wonder this got replaced! Do you still want me to post a video?

  • sure go ahead.its a dark ride that is cherished at knott's until they removed it in 87 for kingdom of the dinos cause of the dropping popularity at knott's at the time.so knott's saved the popularity by replacing this ride.

  • It's a miracle! Bear-y Tales has been posted!

  • i was born in the 90's i wished i rode it.kingdom of the dinosaurs was good too.but i never knew there was something before it.until my dad told me after i rode dinosaurs years ago.

  • Boy not much of the Frog Forrest changed when it became Dinos.

  • yeah not much.all what they did was taking off the grass with rocks under it and repainting the rocks and removing the frogs.the scene turned into the ice age scene.

  • does anybody realize the music is going slow.cause in the dvd of bear-y tales the music went normal in 1 ridethrough which i put in after the hippies said, they do nothing to you in scary farm,.this 2nd ridethrough which is the lighted one has the muic slowing down while in the other it goes fast and normal.i will post the rest of the other ridethrough i only did half of it to fill in the 2nd.

  • This had brought back so many great memories as a kid..I wish knotts did'nt ruine a good thing. Thank you very much for sharing this with us.

  • your welcome!

  • thank you for posting this! This was my absolute favorite ride in the world! I went on it over and over again!

  • your welcome! i wish i saw this in person of me riding this.but i rode the dinosaur one.i wanna ride bear-y tales more though if it was still around.

  • this ride is so abouslutily beautiful. i heard rumors of them bringing this ride back but not sure if it would happen though but i hope!

  • Sarah the medium - "sees all, knows nothing." That was always my favorite! Thanks for posting this - it was a terrific ride!

  • Thanks for posting this! I was hoping someone out there had a ride through and it would find its way here someday. This is childhood nostalgia at it's best! I was so sad when it was gone.

  • i really miss this ride, good job on finding the video

  • thanks!

  • Just a question, can I record the sound from this video and your halloween haunt video? I am making a smaller computer recreation of Knott's Bear-y Tales for YouTube and my own pleasure. Is that alright? I am also going to make Splash Mountain.

  • sure you can use the sound from both of the videos.the skeelington was in the video but it was dark to see it.the giant spider was there too but there were more in the scary tales.while in the regular ride there was only 1.

  • What is in Thunder Cave exactly? Is the skeleton and giant spider from Scary Tales there?

  • I rode on this when I was like ten or something, I remember it perfectly, but then a few years later all it was were a few dinosaurs and wooly mammoths. Crafty Coyote winked at me!

  • yeah the ride bacame kingdom of the dinosaurs.

  • Man, I can't believe you have that footage! I miss this ride :(

  • thanks and i wish i got to see this back then.but i was born in the 90's

  • i totally remember she was watching cowboy movie on the crystal ball...

  • really?i thought it was the wanda character in the gypsy camp.i knew there was something in that crystal ball.

  • it was that classic cowboys shooting while riding horses thing, this ride was awesome. the video does it justice, but the lighting was perfect and the camera cant show that.i remember the egg conveyer in the first scene i was fascinated by that, dr fox and wanda.. lol.. and of course the coyote at the end, well, he couldn't quite reach that pie they put outside his cell,

  • yeah i found pictures of crafty trying to get some pie.

  • OMG, thank you thank you thank you. I always wanted to see this ride in all it's glory.

  • your welcome!

  • All that is missing is the boysenberry smell! Man I loved that smell, that is why I rode the ride. - Nicely done! - - RU42

  • thank you!

  • sounds like two big stoners on the ride though, hehe

  • the 2 guys in the ridethrough referenced the halloween haunt overlay for the ride called knott's scary tales.i posted the halloween overlay lol and they referenced it lmao!

  • wow, great to see this ride, first time i've ever seen it posted anywhere, thanks!

  • your welcome and yeah the guys sound like hippies.this must have been shot in the 70's while the other ridethrough was in the 80's.there is 2 ridethroughs in the dvd of bear-y tales.including the playhouse where the figures took a beating there.

  • Actually, I was cracking up because they sound just like the Bob and Doug McKenzie characters from SCTV. Canadian hoseheads, eh?

Thank you so very much for the video. I never really appreciated the ride until it wasn't there anymore. There's so much of it that I really can't remember. I'd love to go back in time and revisit the old park, before they started destroying it bit by bit.

  • yeah i miss the old park.the dinosaurs ride that replaced tales is defunct.there are heavy rumors of them reviving bear-y tales.i hope it is true.despite the ceder fair does nothing but ROLLOR COASTERS!

  • the dinosaur ride is still rotting right now.just like ceder fairs other dark ride in their home park ceder point called the pirate ride and that ride rotted for 16 years THEY ARE SO LAZY!!

  • cool

  • yeah the old knott's berry farm ride.

  • How Cute!!!

  • yeah it is awesome rolly crump made this.

  • I know

You told me in the other one (the scary tales one)

  • yeah

  • Cool

  • yeah it was an old ride at knott's

  • Yay! Bear-y Tales! I was only 10 when they took it out, but there are parts of this video I definitely remember.

  • yeah my father rode it too.

  • Can you give a list of attractions for your theme park?

  • yes.wacky soap racers, sky jump kingdom of the dinosaurs, knott's bear-y tales, and most of the old knott's rides for now.i thought about having even a nintendo themed area.a ride simialar to star tours with star fox or pikmin and many things

  • The Pooh ride doesn't have enough space to put this ride in, this ride is too big it would need a show building like HM and POTC. I'm designing another attraction for the Pooh spot anyways.

  • i hope the attraction you will be desinging will have a simialar plot and characters to bear-y tales.even though i thought about replicating it for my theme park

  • Ya he got all excited and then made me look up Mine Train thru Natures Wonderland and America Sings.

  • Nice.

  • i am also putting bear-y tales on myspace.
