@emittscool Luckily, they did that with the original release of this tape :) If you google "Modern Electric Bass Jaco Pastorius PDF" you will find lots of sites that have the book to view online.
what impressed me the most was that he basically is just telling people that need to put in the time. no magic. just lots and lots of work. play. i'm a piano guy but i love this video
I am not sure whats more tragic: losing him so early in his life when he was schooling people without trying.....or the fact that he is relegated to obscurity in the history books like the other bass innovators James Jamerson and Larry Graham. Bass guitar is pretty much written in their blood sweat and tears.
it switches at 5:00 or so, you can tell from the head stock, it switches from the orchestral scroll style head ornamentation 3:05 - 3:09 to the factory stock fender type.
I think Jaco got a lot of his tone by putting a whole heap of mid into his tone. That's what gave him his "horny" tone. Also he used his bridge pick-up exclusively. Dunno about the rest of his set up but I'm pretty sure that's the gist of it.
Such a nice awesome guy and great bassist!
