  • @ChuffChuffWoo and I try it and it worked

  • @TheBluefire71857 Yippee! :)

  • My compac nc6000 wont turn on i did what u did, but it still wont work. I dont have the charger light on like u, I have the light on with the 3 disks. If you know how to fix this problem, please let me know ASAP.

  • @lockerzinvitesrocks Alas no I don't but what you can do is buy a cheap NC 6000 off ebay and swap your hard disk in to it.

  • @lockerzinvitesrocks do you have some any RAM in it or memory because with it and RAM even you tried the some thing in this video it won't boot up

  • @TheBluefire71857 Yes it had the RAM in. You can always buy a cheap second hand NC6000 off ebay and put your HDD in it.

  • dood, that is OSM! i freaked out today when my laptop wouldn't boot, and i watched your video thinking, "yeah whatever man, watch im stick duct tape in there or something" IT WORKS!

at least now i can backup the drive before i attempt the actual repair!

  • @bnjroo

Great - get your stuff off as it will die altogether. If your repair doesn't work, buy another NC6000 and swap your hard drive in to it - will work as before.

  • @ChuffChuffWoo yeah that'd be a good idea. there are a few of them around cheaply enough. friday night after doing a full backup i tore it down and "reflowed" the solder joints on that one controller chip as shown in a few other videos. worked better than i was expecting! ^.^

    thanks for posting this :)

  • @bnjroo Great - glad it worked : -)))

  • my nc6000 has that problem too, do you now what the problem is though?

  • @chance321100 Yes, the tiny maxtor power controller chip needs resoldering, check out the other videos on you tube so see how it's done....

  • Yes, will have a go at fixing it now that I have another working computer if this one dies totally.

  • You can get an adapter for about £2.40 that'll connect your 2.5" drive to a 3.5" desktop PC to backup all your data. Neat hack though, can you not have a go at re-soldering the chip back on ? I would since it's buggered anyway :)
