Now I know where the Demon in Disguise got it from. Should have guessed that Bromberg knew his Luke Jordan based on his awesome Church Bell Blues/Statesboro Blues medley.
Wow! Very nice job--excellent playing and singing! I grew up in Lynchburg, VA--where Luke Jordan lived for much of his life, and my grandfather used to tell me stories about seeing Luke Jordan playing his guitar for nickels down by the James River and at the Craddock-Terry Shoe Corporation there. It really is too bad that Jordan didn't record more. Do you play "Pick Poor Robin Clean" or "Church Bell Blues"?
thanks for that. it's great your grandfather knew him. luke jordan is one of my favorites, and i certainly rue the fact that he didn't record more! i'll have to work out the church bell blues...pick poor robin clean is a classic that i don't really play but know my way around it.
Good job! I'm trying to learn this song from your video. It's a shame that the video and sound don't sync up. Have you ever sorted the issue out? It would be great to see this video proper.
no sheet music, just playing along to the recordings, a little tab here and there, and - mainly - following some great older players around did it for me...
Nice performance ! You are right, Luke Jordan just released 8 tunes. Cocaine Blues was recorded Tuesday , 16 August 1927, Victor Label. It's not important, just keep the blues alive, as you do, so well ! Thanks !!!
Great picking- did you speed it up a bit, though? Being constructive...

You know, if you were alive back in the 20s, I think you would have done very well on the vaudeville circuit.
Excellent job. Luke Jordan is very under-rated.
