has any one noticed in the first series, the french woman captures Sayid and electrocutes him in her den! maybe she knows how to test for infection like what happens at the temple. She then lets sayid go when she realises hes not infected.

I think the list of names are all candidates to replace Jacob if he dies, and smokey is trying to kill or claim these people so that Jacob cannot be reborn and the game starts again! Smokey is trapped on the island, and killing or claiming all on the list is the only way. Charles Whitmore and Eloise Hawking is on smokeys side and he has already tried to kill everyone on the island in season 4, but failed.

i cant believe no-one seems to have concidered the whispers may be the servants of the man in black, banished of phsical form maybe and can possess or use the bodies of the dead, unless they're buried on the island. this may be the dangers dogan referred to in trying to save sayeed. if they just pronounced him dead and buried him his body could not be "claimed" by the whisper people. Ben is certainly afraid of them, he tells Rousoe if she ever hears whispers she must run the other way.

Nah, I think we're lead to believe they were infected. They were all killed by the smoke monster and had direct contact with the smoke monster. Furthermore, we're lead to believe those were actually the bodies of the science team as Jin walks by them and covers his mouth at the smell of their dead bodies...

I think jacob is really really clever, almost omniscient. So I think he knew everything that happend before

I think this episode evidences the idea that Rousseau was the one who was sick/crazy all along - not her team. Her team was just reacting to her nutty-ness (but we saw only the last part of the confrontation where she shot the last of her team... crazy people never think they are the crazy ones, but that everyone else is). That's probably why Ben was sent to kill her (like Jack was sent to Sayid), but had compassion and took her baby leaving her alive.
