It's an EXHIBITION match. The shin guards, 14 Oz gloves and hard guard are all for Hiroya's protection.
Hiroya is around 10 kg lighter than Masato, he's still under 18 years old and although he is a great fighter, he's not close to the same level as Masato.
If this had been an actual match, Hiroya would have been KO'd in the first minute and probably not be able to walk for a month.
This was to showcase their skills and a ceremonial way of Masato passing the gauntlet to Hiroya.
He made his K-1 debut at the K-1 World MAX 2007 Japan Tournament in one of the opening fights as the youngest contestant at the age of 15 in February 5, 2007
"scared" lol. More likely he was thinking "if that's the buakaw that shows up it isn't worth my time". Getting dropped by an MMA guy in only his 2nd fight in K-1 rules...kind of embarrassing for Buakaw methinks. Luckily he put in a good showing against JWP last Sunday at least! Some redemption!
No Masato is and has been a warrior since 1992 at least this sport can wear down evry part of ur body in 2 yrs at an ametuer level if he wants to still b abl to do normal thngs wo constant pain for life he shld retire and coach or do advertising or commentary
it was truly a sparring session - at least for masato. YOu can see that when masato wanted to he could land a fair few shots on the youngster. Great potential though that Hiroya!
Masato is good, has great punching skills and an ihuman stamina, but he thinks he is too great because he won 2 championships, but the last year he just got lucky that they granted him the extra round, kyshenko won clearly a decision after round 3, but i guess that FEG continues to favor his favorite fighter.
Kyshenko didn't "clearly" win anything. Even he was content with the decision (see his post-fight interview). I have the entire tournament on DVD, so I saw it in good quality.. it was definitely a close fight. Calling it a draw after 3 rounds is not out of the question. You are entitled to your opinion of course...but even pro-fighters like JWP agree with the eventual decision. Just FYI Masato also broke Kyshenko's nose in that fight too. Both fighters showed great heart!
True, but it's difficult to break a nose of an experienced fighter due to their head movement and reflexes. A nose break also inhibits your ability to fight, and depending on the severity fights have been called off before due to such an injury. I only brought it up in my post to show Masato's shots were causing damage, and it was not nearly as one sided as some people claim. It was a close fight, could have gone either way. Calling it a "robbery" is a bit much IMO.

It was an exhibition match. Masato opted out of the tournament this year. He is retiring after the K1 NYE show.

dsnt take much to break a nose an experienced fighter can and most likely will still fight. It's common
