when you turn off 3g, does it turn off edge as well? and can i ask, if i buy an unlocked iphone, does iphone use internet like 24/7? because when im at home ill probley use it a lot, but when i leave, will it go to like my cell phone's internet provider? because i dont want to get overcharged again..

No Edge will stay on. If you don't enable the push email function and don't access the safari browser there is no reason why it should access the internet (worth checking when you have it set up in practice to make sure you aren't running up big bills by accident)

My battery was at 80%, And I watched four movies, brightness all the way down, volume all the way down, okay not all the way down, a sliver left. And In Airplane mode, on a Plane, It went down to 70% after four movies. THAT IS PWNAGE

how do you know what area you are in so you can switch between wifi and 3G ??

Usually WiFi areas are signed e.g. in MacDonalds or Starbucks etc
