man...where can I get the original like this! The amazon, itunes link send me to a weird copy. almost synthetic version of the songs. The theme for a fist full of dollars is hard to find. Heard the original was not well preserved. anyone have any ideas?
It sounds deceptively simple yet it's so emotional and powerful. One of Morricone's very best in my book. Great trumpeter too, a lot of edge and raw power. It sounds metalic and sharp as a knife, but there's enough vibrato and a few embouchure tricks that totally sell it. Forget the Green Hornet and Händel's trumpet concerto in E flat, this is the prize showpiece for trumpet.
They simply don't make music like this anymore. It's an amazingly written piece of music. Tarantino has continued to use this style of music in his movies, getting it from Spaghetti Westerns.
I imagine 2 cowboys in an old western standoff, with only one bullet in their revolvers, back-to-back, taking steps at the same time, then, they turn, one of them aims, fires, and misses...the other one, slowly raises his arm, takes aim, and fires...
@martin43427 That make sense. Ennio Morricone has done a lot of scores for Tarantino movies. I think he even used The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly song in one.
@jandl71598 yeah...in my dreams of one day being a rock star. I always wanted to play this before my show. Then one day...I was at ACL in austin and I heard this start playing. I went to the stage..."who stole my idea!" lol. it was mars volta. It this was the best intro EVER!
@Rmukia Yeah, it is. Right after Michael Madsen pumps The Bride full of salt pellets from his shotgun, casually walks over, does his little speech thing and tranquilizes her.
