@mrchrisdavies - yeah I did a few searches and apparently "low grade" stainless is magnetic - I learn something everyday. I grew up with and love Scalextric but used to race "real" slot cars (1/24) on king type tracks. Love to do eurosports but unfortunately no tracks here. Never been a fan of this using magnets to get the cars to stay on. Must be old fashioned but don't want to admit it. LOL
@mrchrisdavies - not here in sunny Oz - my track had heaps of use and the tin plating just wore off. I went to a hobby shop the other day and the salesmen says they are stainless these days. I had close look and it seems a different material to the good old days.
Thinking of making my own track Have made two before. Three lanes - made out of particle board etc. Use braided copper for the contact strips. Can't get slot car racing out of my blood.
About 2 hours....as I see you are a budding film maker I'll let you into a secret. The film is in reverse, it is actually a lot easier to desmantle the track than build it. A tell tail sign is the reversing tractor handeled by my wife, she forgot for a bit that all cars had to move backwards.
Took lots of pictures then used 'windows movie maker' to joint them together. Keep up the good work
At 0:17, is that an old mlcaren F1 car?

Are the Scalextric contact rails made of stainless steel these days? My old ones were plated steel and used to rust after a year or so. Cheers
