The REAL shizzle of this video is at 1:08 - He actually DIES AND KEEPS THE COMBO RUNNING. Try play the game ... this game takes a lot more than mere memorisation. You are looking at, basically, the hardest well-designed (and fair) game ever made. If you are skilled enough, in theory, you can beat it on your first try.

@klooger28 if you don't have the PCB, you can play the PS2 port (needs modchip if you don't have a asian PS2), Xbox 360 port (again, needs JTAG or a NTSC-J Xbox 360) or ... currently-being-worked-on MAME emulated version.

It won't be long until it's playable in MAME. To be honest, you may want to try the game before DOJ, DoDonPachi. You can play it right now in MAME! It's nearly as fun and 1/10th as difficult in the first loop.

go to shmups dot system11 dot org and look for "lagless mame" (actually just searching on google with turn up a result). Download the 99 version.

For the ROMs just search for "DoDonPachi ROM" and copy it into a directory called "roms" where MAME resides. Refresh your list of ROMs and you're in for the ride of your life.

It is actually easier than ultra. And Mushihimesama Futari Ultra has been beaten. There is actually video of it in youtube by HARIST.

Some consider DDP DOJ hardest or second hardest shmup to 2-loop. ( Some say Image Fight, some say DDP Campaign mode )

You are confusing it something else. Dodonpachi Daioujou was never released on Sega Saturn. You must talk about Dodonpachi, not Dodonpachi Daioujou.

They are not the same.

Xbox 360 - version ( Dodonpachi Black Label Extra ) has black label-mode, xbox 360-mode and online scoreboards.

But then again, it is really buggy I heard. It seems to have extremely long loading times. I would recommend ps2-version. It doesn't have online scoreboards or black-label mode, but atleast it is very good port.

Remember these games are region-locked so you need either japanese Xbox 360 or mod your ps2/swapdisc your ps2/get japanese ps2.

Definately a tough game. If you like bullet hells, Touhou's games are a lot of fun. Perfect Cherry Blossom and Imperishable Night. Both are very difficult as well.

I've played a lot of Cave games and I would say personally DOJ is way harder than Mushihimesama Original Mode. Maniac and Ultra are another story...but even Maniac is a bit easier than DOJ IMO.

It's not nearly as hard as it looks. First of all your ship's hitbox is much much smaller than the sprite second of all this recording looks like it was sped up a bit. Either that or my emulator is slow ;)
