how to play music from sound card on vista (stereo mixer)

(part1)(no stereo mix choice-vista-sigmatel)

if you dont have stereo mix & want to play tunes in a chat, like camfrog for vista. and sigmatel audio cards.-

get a stereo plug 3.55mm cord with 2 male heads.

this is cheap, 2 bucks cheap.

plug one male head into your line in slot

plug one male head into your extra headphones slot.

what this does, is run the music from your computer to your headphones, but snce

part 2)) you have the dual headed stero plug in your headphones slot, and the ther end is in your line in slot, that will, forwards the music right to your line in.

now go to chat site, before going in chat, change CHAT audio settings to the Line In option. YOU WONT BE ABLE TO mic talk UNDER THIS OPTION- but you will be able to play tunes.

To turn your mic back on, log out of chat, go to chat settings choose MIC,, then reenter chat, and you can speak.

it isnt perfect but it works.

No I don't think it's because you guys have cheap soundcards. To tell you the truth I'm using Windows 7 right now but when I had Vista, it could not record from my stereo properly, I could only use the microphone. I went into options to search everything, but it only had my microphones. I thought that my sound card was bad but the truth was I could use stereo recorders on Xfire built in (It has a thing to enable) So if anyone could think what the problem is here, I would very much appreciate it.

dude I have a sounblaster Xfi Xtreme gamer.. thats not a cheap soundcard and i have the same problem..

most of the newer aged sound cards took out the recording because people would go to an artists site or some other internet site and just record there song without paying for it.. there trying to stop piracy.. simple as that

bet your running vista, because i can record on stereo mix on my macbook using xp and my mac is only a year old, you can't really put xp on new pc's anymore because there is no drivers for them, because thay want you to buy vista and not xp. i think why some people can use that with vista is because thay had xp and changed to vista when it was first out... i dunno

I have both xp and vista. Im currently running two computers at the moment. the one with xp cant record because it lags way too much. I know nothing about vista. Ive been with xp for 7years now and vista for about 3days haha.. But I read thats why they took out the stereo mix in vista is so you couldnt listen to internet radio and steal the song.. although they have not done anything about limewire? makes no damn sense to me... Surely our government who tracks pirates know about limewire

Where you get all the files when you right click?

I did right clicked and checked "show disabled devices" and it still show my one device.

My one device is "Microphone/Line In".
