this is beautifully done. two years since you did this and enda still not passed. brings me to tears regularly. i really appreciate your ability to keep a level head when facing such insane and ignorant discrimination. i have to admit there are times when i need to be in space of women who grew up as little girls, but besides such specific times, there are no other reasons to exclude people for their own self identity. it'll be great when kids can live their identity without resistance.

I find it remarkable that it has been 40 years since Stonewall, and we have still only come this far.

Transgendered people are politically weak because they rely on the Gay community for representation and identity: Tran-gen ppl need to be masters of their own destiny, such as defining themselves and not accepting labels stuck on them by non-transgender groups and people. There's alot of moaning about this and that but no group action. Many T-girls are in such fierce compitition with each other like "beauty" and how many "boyfriends" they can get blah blah blah. That is quite frankly ridiculous . That's no different than a bigot calling them "gay". Gays are a much larger group and more visual. I know more transgender activists than I do gay and they sure don't "keep quiet" or depend on gay groups like the HRC to speak for them. They not only were active they were contributing to gay causes at the SAME time.

The problem is the gay community , like all communities , has two personalities. While the vast majority are supportive and long sighted there are a number of them that have run out of patience . Like in the movie Pitch Black where Riddick says "save yourself , no one will know" it's much easier to believe this was ever about just being gay rather than equality . Gays are nongender conforming and if they think it's about bumping boy bottoms they are in for a big surprise.

Thank's for you're reply... I guess i should have made it more clear that i'm saying this from a UK point of view, of what i've seen and know. I don't think its ridicuous because so many people cannot make the distinction between Transgendered and Gay. I hear some TG ppl (m-f) call themselves Gay "though dress and live as female and date men" and others will say they're straight. This can depend country to country. I think TG people should define themselves more 'clearly' as a group.

Pt. 1 - Made me cry. There is a lesson in this message, TOLERANCE. I find that the more people I meet in the GLBT community the more tolerance, humanity & acceptance I see. I think growing up the way we have tends to make us more likely to be compassionate and accepting if for no other reason than we know how it is to be seen as less than human. However, I have also seen many instances where people like us are not tolerant or accepting of differences in others... my overall take on this is that discrimination is probably more a function of how much one accepts themselves... how secure they are in themselves.

Why do they oppose the T in GLBT? It is ironic that a bill on non-discrimination is discriminating against a particular gender minority and from some sections of the GLB community.

Some GLBs are afraid of associating with the Trans community, you see Trans really scares straight people, much more so than gay. Gay is barely tolerated in the workplace, tolerated as in a comment I once heard "this place is full of queers". Now that sure sounds like tolerance and acceptance :)

I understand why Nancy Pelosi cut loose transgender people from ENDA: she wants it to pass the House this week because next weekend she is the guest of honor at the Human Rights Campaign dinner. As a TS woman I am angry that the HRC accepts our exclusion when they promised they never would. And *they* will have to live with that lie.
