  • At first I didn't really catch on to why Vince Gilligan chose this as the ending to season 2. I am now currently re-watching the whole series with my dad, and when I got to this part.... fucking chills.

  • Aeroméxico Flight 498...Name of the controller on this terrible day was Walter White. Coincidence?

  • Thats what happens when Q's daughter dies

  • I really, really hated this ending. The plane crash is an incredibly stupid and lame attempt to make some sort of point like "ooo look at the far reaching consequences of their behavior" or something equally lame. If it had been a drug related murder, fine, but a grieved father is so overwhelmed that he causes a massive plane crash? It's absurdly random and idiotic. I love the show so I'll ignore it but goddamn that was a moronic way to end an amazing season.

  • @jdlund I'm sure most fans of the show would disagree with you. Accidents happen all the time because of negligence, so how can you rule out the possibility that something more distracting like the loss of a loved one could affect someone's ability to make life-altering decisions, such as in this case. I thought it was a hell of a lot more dramatic than only leading up to one murder.

  • Note that the side of the bears face is charred, like someone else's that we know... epic fucking foreshadowing right there.

  • walter caused the crash...lolz

  • @Drewandy22 how was the crash walter's fault?

  • @kingman4889 is that a serious question? he let Jane die

  • @Drewandy22 haha shit sorry that's right and her dad crashed the plane since he worked for the airline, then committed suicide... sorry i was sorta high when i saw this episode

  • @Drewandy22, that doesn't make him responsible for the plane crashing. Sure it was a shitty thing to do, but dear god who reacts to the death of their daughter by crashing two planes? There's no way Walt is responsible for such an insane reaction.

  • As creepy as that was, they could have had something worse land in the pool.

  • i wanna watch season 3 but idk where 2 watch it

  • @PlanetOutlaws its streaming on netflix now

  • @PlanetOutlaws Netflix

  • Pause it at :51 .. the bears painted on the wall behind him .. creepy!

  • the color pink dominates this scene (Walter's sweater, pink etching on the wall, and the pink teddy bear). kinda wondering if it could be alluding to pinkman in some way...

  • I think I can safely say this is one of the most tragic (and totally unanticipated) turning points in any series or movie I can think of. Just thinking of the misery in each character's situation as related to this scene gives me goosebumps.

  • Lovely bit of foreshadowing. Remember what happened to Gus in season 4 finale? Look at what the Teddy is like.

  • @LyubenV ARGH DAMMIT SPOILER ASSS RAPING MONKEY FUCK

  • This scene is hypnotic.

  • the big picture here is: a little 1/4 pound teddy can make a BIG splash...

  • @1skullduggery Of course it can, at spead of over 100 km/h it can kill a person if the teddybear hits someone.

  • @jot0ub You suck at physics.

A Teddy bear has little to no mass, and a reasonably big surface area.it's not dense.. It has poor aerodynamic qualities. As such it's Terminal Velocity would be rather low.

The amount of energy it would transfer on impact... would be low.

It couldn't kill anybody not even if they chucked it out of a supersonic jet.

  • @svandamme76 Yeah jot0ub, yeah science !

  • @1skullduggery When shot out of an explosion like that it could.

  • @1skullduggery an object traveling at 85-100 mph can, yes.

  • I like the whole idea and stuff just the effects look a bit fake from a distance, it's clearly after effects trapcode.

  • @CusK77 Dude you are missing the whole point!!! That plane crash had everything to do with Walt and his actions.

  • @jnyc2007 now now, don't forget Jesse.

  • @jnyc2007 i remember watching the special features and Vince saying how his actions influenced the crash. HOW?

  • @prod929292 The air traffic controller who caused the accident was Jessie girl friends father and was distraught about his daughter death .

Walt let her die in bed chocking on her vomit remember.

  • @jnyc2007 ok but now i dont understand how an air traffic controller can cause an explosion, i thought they could only direct planes in the right locations. what could they possibly do to cause an explosion?

  • @prod929292 The explosion is from two planes that crashed into each other which happened because air traffic controller was not in his right state mind because of his daughter.

  • @CusK77 The crash isn't random in the least! The season was very intentionally building up to this moment (not just this scene). It is really the first time of the series that Walter has to face the horrible repercussions of his actions. Walter allowing Jane to die was the catalyst of the explosion.

  • just one question...who the hell is the moron that allowed an ATC who's daughter just recently died go back to work so soon after her death? seriously, why would you give such a risky job as that to someone with such an immense amount of mental instability?

  • I actually missed the entire second season by accident.. Its okay, once season 4 is out im buying them all. This show... is pure greatness.

  • Love that the planes crash over his house, that the dead people he's responsible for are falling around him.

  • I remember trying to figure out what happend the whole season.

  • That's pretty easy to do since the skies are so narrow

  • love it love the show but what was with the eyeball in the filter? i feel somewhat outta the loop on the eyeball. Metaphor fooooooor watching...yourself....wat?

  • @DRR4BBIT Its the eyeball off of the teddy bear. I loved how the beginning of each episode of season 2 showed things floating in the water. Everytime I saw that I was like "Wtf...ok?" Then I saw this scene of the season finale and I was like "OH! Now I get it!" That was a very unique and genius idea. I loved it.

  • It's pretty refreshing to finally not see a character with the whole cliche "It's all my fault" attitude. Not that I condone it, but it's fun to see a character that does his best to escape all the blame

  • Severe cop out

  • @Rude666 How so?

  • @Rude666 this show never cops out

  • ABQ my home, what a shithole in birds eye view.

  • I didn't initially like this ending, but in retrospect its amazing.

  • i got chills man

  • Alot of people died because of this blue meth.. The show is awesome, and the way they filmed the show is just so realistic and the actors are right ON spot.. Not my favorite show, but it's worth watching..

  • Seriously, I am so fucking satisfied every time the screen fades to black & says "Executive Producer: Vince Gilligan". EVERY TIME

  • @MushroomGalaxy69 i look forward to it. but i want more. season 5 needs to come soon

  • I always call Walt Hal instead.

  • Diabolos ——ex machina!

  • All throughout season 2 I could not wait for the black-and-white pool scenes to finally come together.

  • i just started watching this show last week dvr'd on amc marathon on a recomendation..

all i have to say is this show is sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo fucking good!

  • Is it weird that Jane's father is the owner of the apartment complex, and also has a job as an air traffic controller?

  • @plutarch6 no, he cant support himself by running an apartment with only one person and his daughter in it.

  • Anyone else got reminded of the scene in Lost in season 3 when everyone looks up into the sky to see the plane break apart in midair?

  • Never noticed that Walt is wearing the same color sweater as the bear.

  • @JorVid1 err that's A lie -_-

  • @kankerturk123 Look at the bear. Now look at Walt's sweater. They are clearly both magenta (or some variation of the color.)

  • I only started watching Breaking Bad about a week ago and it is now one of my favorite shows. But unfortunately I had seen this episode after watching the fourth episode of Season 2. For some reason I screwed up the order of the episodes and skipped a bunch, didn't even realize it was the Season 2 finale.. Oh well, I'll be sure not to do that with the next two seasons.

  • Im afraid to read the comments cause Im sure some jackass wrote some spoilers down.....

  • The build-up to this scene throughout the whole season was brilliant.

  • @LunaticFringe20 ya the build up of this scene was great! i think i like this season the best because of it...season three was really good but how they made season two was awesome...hopefully season four takes the cake, walter is becoming more of a mad man and his character is flawless!

  • @LunaticFringe20 I agree completely, it's one of the many things that makes this show unique and awesome.

  • 737 down over abq....

  • truly the best cliff hanger to a series i have ever seen

  • Worst. CGI. Ever.

    Great show nonetheless.

  • I'M A JUNKY FOR BREAKING BAD!!! I just finished the second season. Whole season it give little clips to this event and i never would have guessed that to happen. I thought Walt's family was dead . The use of black and white while keeping the bear in color plus have it all play out like this is just genious

  • And that's how Lost started

  • @FrozenSocks231

    LOL!

  • I like how Walt's sweater is the same color as the stuffed animal. interesting.

  • All Walt wanted was good but oh, it did break very bad.

  • The third season has still to make its way to the UK. Grr...

  • @RosheruCell Just download it. We don't even have this show in the Netherlands >.<

  • @RosheruCell u could watch it on hulu or some other websites

  • i loved this season, but i thought this ending scene was a bit of a let down. There were things in the black and white scenes throughout the season that were basically ignored like the body bags that they alluded too.

I haven't' seen season 3 yet so please no spoilers if you disagree.

  • @John88LC Man, after watching this scene you can pretty much assume that those bodies were from the passengers that died in the crash! They were showed to trick us and make us think they were some major characters, but they were passengers from the planes.

  • @John88LC

season 3 blows everyything that you know and love out of the water

  • Does anyone know how thet filmed this scene?

  • @TrolloftheTube From the looks of things they simply tracked the explosion over Walt's shoulder in the sky, and then for the falling debris shot (which I'm assuming you're referring to), they appear to have used satellite images of the area, tracked a path for the virtual camera to follow within the image, and then placed the second explosion animation and debris trails for when the camera turns toward the sky. They then cut to the underwater shot when the camera "falls" close to the pool.

  • I will never forgive Walt for what he did. He might as well have killed Jessie's girlfriend himself, seeing as if he hadn't shook Jessie, she wouldn't have rolled over.

Even then, he could have helped her, but he just stood there watching her die. Now look what he deed is caused.

  • @TrolloftheTube

yea, but Jane was the antagonist and for the show to continue, Walt had to let her die for 2 reaons:

    1) The Heroin thet she introduced Jesse to

    2) She was blackmailing Walt to do her bidding and was bringing Jesse to her side so to speak

  • @NnysVelvetRevolver

I understand she had to be disposed of, but it still irks me that Walt would do such a thing.

  • best ending to a season ever!

  • Heisenberg's Kill to Death Ratio when including Jane and the subsequent plane mishap is 170-0...badass!

  • @UhOhRetardAlert You are forgetting the guys he killed in season 1

  • Did the ATC do this on purpose or by accident?

  • @DrGodfather14 No, he was in deep grief for his daughter who had died of an overdose and screwed up on his job.

  • When is season three coming out?

  • @SOADCollection Season 3 ended back in June. It'll be on DVD sometime in 2011.

  • Same Lost , but this is AWESOME

  • Comment removed

  • Breaking Bad is probably one of the 10 greatest dramatic TV Series of all time. The cinematography here (catching the fall through the eyes of the stuffed toy) is truly genius. It's great how every week, more people are viewing this show. Several of my friends have started watching this season. Years agao, TV guide used to run articles called "The Best Show You're Not Watching"..This definitely fits that title, atlhough it's viewership is gaining in elaps and bounds.

  • @farmasyst What are your other nine favorites??

  • This reminds me of LOST season 3 Premiere!!!!

  • the eye is always watching

  • At the beggining of the episode they zipped up two body bags at Walts house. Who dies?

  • @Ab0rti0N

    Everyone on those planes.

  • @Ab0rti0N Um....hundreds of people who were in the planes?

  • @darkreign16 The flight controller's daughter died of an overdose an in his grief, screwed up on the job.

  • @Ab0rti0N He said he a later episode there were charred remains on his porch.

  • I did not like the end at all, Walt is a hero.

  • @poopster102 "Walt is a hero"

The guy is a miserable criminal.

  • @Gdanohrukrodmmtefce What do you mean, his cancer was cured, he is much wealthier and can support his family.

  • nice quality

  • Walt end's up thinking this airplane crash is his fault, but on the basis of knowing he could of saved the life of the girl who OD'ed. Thing is SHE DID NOT OD. SHE ONLY DROWED IN HER OWN VOMIT!!!. Thats why when they shoot up they place themselfs on their side, so they cant drown in their own vomit...

  • Did 0:38 to 0:45 remind anyone of Cloverfield?

  • hard to say

first 30 min of that terrible movie put me to sleep =\

  • this is an atom bomb of a season finale.

  • @67woodgirl Jane wasn't in anything. it's obvious she was using long before Jesse showed up. she just manipulated her daddy into thinking she wasn't.

  • am i the only one that thought this scene was completely ridiculous?

  • @moriya2k2 yes, you are the only one. debris landed in his pool, whats so un believeable about that?

  • Oceanic 815

  • Hello... Jane was in recovery. You know 12 step

  • This is one of the most gripping, riveting, bone chilling final scenes to any show I've ever seen. The writers for this show are phenomenal.

  • I agree it was a scene where you thought about it long after the commercials began.

Made me lose some support for Hal, knowing his self-centered actions indirectly led to the death of hundreds of innocent people. Cannot wait for Season 3 to begin.

  • You did not just call Walt, Hal. How disrespectful...

  • @cptnbennett I KNOW! I literally shouted "WHAT THE FUCK! HOLY SHIT! WHAT THE FUCK! HOLY SHIT!" out loud by myself in my room like 20 times when i saw this. This show is pure genius!!!!

  • I think the writers are gonna make it that one of the planes was smuggling drugs and the bear was filled with meth or whatever.

  • The bear wsnt taken by DEA but by NTS which means it wasnt because of drugs but the crash itself. the thing left to know is not that, but who's are the two bodies lying outside afterwards.

  • *NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board)

  • i think the bodies are 2 of the victims from the plane crash

  • @jkyet probbly just two people from the crash who landed there

  • no jesses druggie girlfreinds dad, donald was the air traffic controller who after her death lost his marbles and caused it

  • @Louis555hob i know that.

  • @Modelcit

Or the planes are just regular planes filled with normal passengers that all died because the ATC was grieving for the loss of his daughter that Walt indirectly contributed to, and the writers are metaphorically summing up the monstrosity that Walt's life has become by showing the charred remains of what was most likely a small child's stuffed animal implying that Walt's seemingly noble cause for cooking meth has turned into an out of control addiction that is now killing children.

  • What are you talking about? They weren't even doing his product. And what about Jesse? How is it Walt's fault and not Jesse's?

To add, it's not like Jane had never done drugs before. By your logic, Jane's death would have been the fault of the drug dealer that originally sold her drugs 10 years ago, and now it's his fault that the father was distracted and several people had to die.

    Blaming Walt is a stretch...

  • I said indirectly contributed to the death of Jane. Indirectly contributed. In-di-rect-ly con-trib-u-ted. Do you have any idea how loose and vague a term this, and how far away it is from me saying that Walt was the only person to blame? Apparently not.

  • But why lose support for Hal? I see what you're saying, but again, there are several people to blame so why pick Walt?

    Whatever, I get you dude.

  • Actually, it's not quite a stretch at all.

Jesse only met Jane because of Walter and Jesse's partnership. Would Jesse have ever had to move out of the house and move right next to Jane? Probably not.

Beyond that though, I think it's a way to show the viewer that Walt's decisions are destructive for everyone around him, and how is he rewarded for his transgressions from his normative behavior? His cancer goes into remission, he has a healthy baby girl, and so on.

  • But its telling that drug dealers, manufacturers, etc. really have no clue as to how much destruction they cause because of their actions. Walt probably will never realize his own involvement in the plane crash.

I think this is great writing regardless.

  • wow...way to put it into perspective...you get a thumbs-up...

  • @cptnbennett Spoiler! A passanger on 1 of the 2 planes was carrying the Blue Magic. Blue Magic landed in Walts yard. Thus Walt thinks its his fault. But little does he know that the father of the girl he seen choke on her own vomit was the cause of it all. Walt is now in the clear again of any wrong doing.

  • @cptnbennett If it were legal, not one person who has died in the show would have died. The death is all caused by the illegality of it. A shame.

  • @darkreign16 Very true. It should be legal. Look at all the people who went blind drinking bad moonshine during prohibition, to say nothing of the mob violence in Chicago. The war on drugs is as stupid as the war on alcohol was. Let people choose for themselves.

  • @cptnbennett well said

  • @cptnbennett Bingo

  • bad things come from bad things

  • Thanks for this one. Another X-files/Breaking Bad cloned scene, horror in the midst of normalcy. Thanks to Vince Gilligan the genius of X Files camera and layout work lives on.
