Did these guys ever play in Germany in the 69 to 70's,,,,???,,at the NATO, armed forces bases??? I swear that I saw them at our High school in Germany,,,my buddy got the drums sticks after the show,,,
A lot o' years and drinkin' and half-ass bar gigs over the last 20 years... and here they land...so sad. Some of the old Ventures 60s tracks are good but if you want Telstar look for Apollo 100 or the Tornados. Jesus this is embarrassing junk!
@TheEnormousPianist tell u what mate, when u have made as much money as these doing what they do, and can still do it at their age, then you can comment them down that simple :D
Nice version, but without the keys it sounds hollow. Check out the original version by the Tornados and you will see what I mean. The Ventures do have a great sound though.
@BobCronley That looks like a WIlson Bros Ventures model guitar, which is an imported Aria guitar (Japanese Mosrite clone which the Ventures have long endorsed in Japan). Wilson Bros is owned by Don's sons.
¡Muy buena interpretación! Lamentamos que el sonido de la guitarra líder no fuera mejor. Por otro lado, extrañamos el bajo de Bob Bogle, no porque Bob Spalding lo haga mal sino porque él le daba un toque especial.
Sweetness, man...Telstar is my favourite Ventures hit of all and I've been listening to them since the 60s. These guys are BY FAR the best instrumental rock band of all time. 50 years and going strong their music is still tight to this very day.
I wanted so badly to see them in VA last year. I did see them in Ashland, KY that summer though. Great musicians. They autographed all of my albums. What was really cool was that modern rock instrumentalists Los Straightjackets and Laika and the Cosmonauts played in the same area a week before or after this Ventures concert. So I missed 2 great concerts. Laika and the Cosmonauts disbanded after their 2008 tour.
nokie looks bored.

Simply the best original song of early sixties. Telestar was the anthem song then, and still is classic now.

I've seen the original Tornadoes version, the cover by The Shadows and this one has the edge. I like all three though.
