  • VAST MAJORTY SCOTS ENGLISGH LAPDOGS NORTHERN BRITS I SUPPORT IRELAND I.R.A

  • i love it its so inspring to the socttish people but then agian i love england :)

  • As the head of state in Scotland is Queen Elizabeth ll, the country's correct anthem is God Save the Queen. What is the flower of Scotland? Yes, I know that song refers to those who died in its name, when they weren't killing each other over the wee bit hill and glen, but is it the thistle?

Perhaps in view of the kilted tradition, the anthem should be "Doonald, where's yer troosers?"

  • @ageaxeify I would rather die than sing god save that bitch.

We are a prod nation that the English tried to breed out but failed.

England feels we get to mach tax money up here but what ya seem to forget is all that tax money comes from SCOTTISH OIL.

Feel free to give us Independence

  • ppl seem to forget or are to young to remember that scotland the brave was our national and was changed to flower. so listen to scotland the brave the meaning ...yet ....still cheery go figure , flower is so depressing now we need a change ...no more death march ... caladonia we're calling you and now im goinnnnng home .mon the Scotland

  • Best anthem ever! :)

  • Moment cilent

  • why does everyone argue over nothing on here. get a grip cunts.

btw....were british as much as were scottish like it or not.

  • @th3sp3cial1 The fact is that there is about 30% of Scots who don't regard themselves as British all. Most people view themselves as British to some degree but from the numerous polls on the subject the big majority of Scots regard themselves as either not British - or more Scottish than British (ie they are British but Scottish is always their primary identity). Like it or not you can only speak for yourself and not for everyone.

  • @gaconnochie the exact same can be said of us English.

  • @liampw20 Quite so. I totally agree

  • best song ever

  • considered backward and not the way to get on - whislt Scots speakers were told they weren't speaking 'properly' whatever that means. Catalan received the same treatment in Spain though it has been through a period of normalisation now. The anglicised Scottish Education system (run by Scots) did a lot of harm to both languages.

  • @gaconnochie Am I to assume that Flower of Scotland is sung in Scots, then? on the subject of Catalan, it qualifies as a language as it has grammatical features of its own, as opposed to just words and pronounciation, unlike "Galician" and "Aragonese" though even these are more removed from Castillan than "Scots" from English.

  • @barnbersonol Well no. Flower of Scotland is sung in what is called Scottish Standard English. That is the form of English as is spoken in Scotland. Basically just English with a few Scotticisms. As toScots being removed from English. Of course it is closely related just as Danish is to Norwegian; Spanish to Portguguese or Gaelic to Irish. Quite honestly if you had to ask if Flower was sung in Scots or not - then what qualifies you to pronounce "you can't really call Scots la language"?

  • Gaelic is an imortant language in Scottish etc but it is not the only language - and it hasn't been the principle language for many centuries. Scotland isn't like Wales where there is basically one native language other than the more recently imported standard English. In Scotland there were two main native languages already when Standard English started making an impact within the last few hundred years.

  • language whilst the Scots didn't. I don't know why but it is historically so! Perhaps because Wales just had the one language viewed as Welsh to identify with - whereas scotland has always been more muli-lingual in regard to community languages. Not just Gaelic and Scots but also the now defunct Cumbric, Pictish and Norn languages!

  • in Scots, Gaelic and of course in English too. The Corries often sang in Scots. And of course some of the other rivals for National Anthem status (specifically Scots Wha Hae and A Man's A Man) are in Scots. I do believe though that someone did write a Gaelic version to the words of Flower of Scotland!

  • gaelic isnt dead just folk dont use it so much blame the scots 4 that n im a scot

  • @justkaz41 It is a strange one. Scotland retained far more of its own seperate status than for instance Wales did. Scotland went into a union with England whereas Wales was initially absorbed into the English kingdom itself. Scotland retained it's church settlement and it's seperate law system etc etc which Wales didn't. Nationalism with a Big N is much stronger in Scotland than it is in Wales. The Welsh, or at least a portion of them, seemed to throw their identity into preserving their

  • Who is performing?

  • @MrMusedu the corries :D

  • this song makes me prod to be Scottish

  • If I was Scottish I'd sooner drink petrol than sing an anthem in English, it's an acceptance that gaelic is finished and a nation that's thrown in the towel. No spirit, no fight, no passion.

  • @barnbersonol The song was written by Roy Williamson of the Corries who I imagine didn't speak Gaelic. The song grew to popularity through people power on the terraces at Murrayfield and Hampden. Would never have happened with a Gaelic song as about 99% of Scots wouldn't understand a word of it. That is a shame. Though at the same time speaking Gaelic has never been synomonous with being Scottish. Scotland still has two of its own national languages. Gaelic and Scots. Scotland has many songs

  • @gaconnochie if Gaelic isn't synomonous with Scottishness why do do think they're Celts? Plenty of invaders/settlers/immigrants etc make up the gene pool but I've never heard a Scot say he's a Viking or Saxon. And you can't really call "Scots" a language, or the same'd be true of Scouse or Brummie etc.

  • @barnbersonol Celts means different things to different peoples. Generally the nations who aren't English in the Briitsh Isles (plus the Cornish) call themselves Celtic nations. Totally different concept from all speaking a Celtic language. Then there's genetics the vast majority of people in Britain will have at least some of their ancestry from Celtic Britons. Gaelic isn't synomonous with Celtic either. The Britons of Roman times spoke P-Celtic languages not Gaelic. The point is though that

  • @barnbersonol As for can't really call Scots a language that of course is nonsense. You may choose not to call Scots a language but plenty of people do, and historically it was the state language of Scotland, and in modern times all the authorities that matter (that is Scottish govt, British govt and EU) regard it as a language in its own right. A couple of centuries of cultural imperialism doesn't dissipate easily though. Gaelic speakers were discouraged from speaking Gaelic because it was

  • @gaconnochie I hate getting sucked into arguments on YT but the idea of "Scots" is aspirational, PC nonsense rather than based on HARD LINGUISTIC FACTS. No doubt in the past there was a bigger difference in the English used around our islands but these days the dividing factor is social background, not geography. Hence an articulate Scot like Walter Smith speaks a language far closer to standard English than a barely literate oik from the Home Counties.

  • What an amazing video - I'm actually part Scottish, but just a tad! ;) Thanks for subscribing - I subbed back. :)

  • I have been in Australia since I was 10. 52 years now and still think of my self as scottish. my daughter went to visit now lives in Glasgow with her husband and two children

  • i agree im scottish born and bred but now living in usa,but im scottish till the day i die.

  • TubeDestroyer has a bedlam mind and he is a little child and don't know what he writes about humans & history. So and now enough. Don't discuss about so themes under a beautiful anthem/song of the Scots.

  • Regarding Germany, do prosper and lead us to better future, but, please, please, do not start another World War.

WW I and WW II are enough from Germany in one century.

  • Scottish Flags to Buy. Please visit: Flagpoles.co.uk

  • Visit wikipedia - List_of_Scots

Scotland has given more inventors than any other country, just a few to amaze you:

television, radar, telephone, nuclear magnetic resonance, ultrasound, EKG, insulin, the first antibiotic, the first anaesthesia, etc, etc.

    Great nation !

    Ivan, Serbia

  • @I49SNEZANKA50 Most countries have invented many items that people use all over the world. It's just that Jock children are indoctrinated at birth with a list, and a hatred of all things English due to a Mel Gibson film of events 800 years ago. They blame the English for their shit lives, and all the successful Jocks now live in England.

  • Scientific inventions are not to be confused with corrupt politicians and the wrong system: In the Scottish parliament they decide about their own affairs and at the same time they have representatives in The House of Commons where they make decisions for the whole country, including England. This is not fair, meaning that England should also have its own Parliament. Mel Gibson’s movie is of extremely poor artistic value; it looks like USSR or Nazi propaganda, full of hatred. Pathetic !

    Ivan

  • Caledonia never fall. I like your country and the Scottish people. Greetings to wonderful Scotland from Germania ! P.S. England sucks !

  • @shadowhunting 1945. That is all.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 Yes America win, but you don't win british people are in this time coward opportunists. Without USA you never win against us. So shut up and respect the biggest state of europe (most people, best economy/technology etc.). That is Germany!

  • @shadowhunting 1918. That is all. Now STFU, Fritz.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 Ohne Amerika wärt ihr gar nicht mehr am leben. German Power !

  • @shadowhunting You Kraut cowards needed the help of Japan and Italy, and we still pissed on you. Twice. Germans - the biggest troublemakers & murderers in the history of the world. I didn't see you making much progress in the Battle of Britain, you sausage-sucking, leather short wearing Nazi

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 We are no cowards, we fight versus the whole world and we stand many years versus all enemies. Germany is the strongest country in europe, you can say what you want, but it is wrong and typical wannabe. Much english people are smug and arrogant, because they mean, they can win about all, but without the yankees you are small and shut the face. We don't need italy and japan, the most victories in the world war II were win by the germans alone. So learn history and get a life !

  • @shadowhunting Yeah? Well if murdering 6 million defenceless Jews is a demonstration of the 'strength' of Germany, you can keep it. Germans fight (and lose) for evil, Britain fights for good - and we win. I suggest YOU learn your history, you Nazi wanker. 'Seig Heil'. Wanker.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 Oh my god, if you mean a german is a nazi, then you have no knowledge of history. We fight for our land and our habitat and the most soldiers do that and they don't fight for nazi's, nazi-government and the ideology. The Fuhrer gives work, but much debts, but many germans like them of beginning of war, because the work and the ''better times'' but in the mid of war they learn what hitler is: A devil of evil without conscience.

  • @shadowhunting Germans fought for 'lebensraum' (living/breathing room), and for the ethnic cleansing of German lands, which involved the killing of 6 million defenceless Jewish men, women and children. That is why the Allies (led by GREAT Britain) kicked your Kraut ass. How many Jewish children did YOUR grandfather murder, you sausage-eating bastard? Your argument is defeated, just like your humourless country. Now go away and accept defeat once again. 1945. Germany 0:1 Britain. Seig Heil.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 why u guys arguing about Germany and ww2 ????? fools , the German and natzi is to separate entities , im a Scott ,and an ex soldier who understands history very well , unfortunately the Jews have been kicked out off every country in Europe at some time or another because off there meddling and business corruption ,.including England , they only got back in because Jewish gold paid for Richard the lion hearts ransom, the German army of the ww2 have my deepest respect

  • @alexzzand You're not only a Scot (with one 'T'), you're an anti-Semite and a Nazi. Enjoy hell.

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 hmm u call me a natzi , no,,, i have no tolerance for the party or approve off their policy's, however i understand there ethos,Britain has had very close links to Germany throughout history ,Hitler was in the beginning supported by Britain as he was anti communist etc,he gave the German people back there pride and set about rebuilding the country's economy,ww2 would off never happened if the sanctions imposed in first ww1 hadn't been so crippling etc etc etc

  • @TubeDestroyer2010 reading your posts im confused , are u German ?? ,if so your either quiet young and misinformed,or a very angry person for the wrong reasons, you are correct about Americas involvement finishing things on the western front for Germany, however it was Russia and Stalingrad that broke the back off the army, should off bypassed it and just taken the oil fields, the German army off the day had first class training equipment weaponry and excellent officers and n.c.o.s,hence my respect

  • @shadowhunting Thanks for your comments. The Scots will never fail. As a nation we will not be beaten. The most loyal nation on earth, but of course we also demand loyalty in return. Many Germans settled in Scotland after WW2 so we have very close ties. Best Wishes Hail Caledonia

    That's you.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl If your definition of trying hard is posting a random comment on Youtube then you're pretty pathetic.

  • @naval8viator You're not Irish.

  • @Peppepoppldoppl And you're still a douche bag, we're back to square one.

  • @naval8viator Fuckup shitelover.

  • ah ps0tka9 thank you, yes i'm scottish and i have to say the polish are such good kind hearted people and you are very welcome in our fair land.

i would very much like to visit poland too! :)

  • I think the same - I have watched a lot listen to the music and I think Scotland is very interesting and proud countru or region... I just have no idea what to think about Scotlant and Scots as now they are more like an etninc group more then a separate country? Is it worth separating from GB? What about the Welch, Irish etc? Will GB allow such separation of the lands?

  • @mariuszchmielewski People in the UK see the UK as being made up of seperate countries which just happen to be part of a union. Hence just because we are in a larger political entity it doesn't stop the Scots and English regarding Scotland and England as seperate countries!

  • Great Nation

  • im scottish and proud!

  • Scotlands anthem evokes the true spirit of Patriotism and the sacrifices of her sons and daughters !

Why should Scotland forget those sacrifices ? Eventhough it was in the past .Scotland has never lost her identity to the English !

It should be the English that should ask the Scottish for forgiveness for the crimes committed to Scotlands children !

I only wish the Italian anthem was like the Scottish anthem !!!

  • Respect.

  • I'm proud to be of Scottish heritage!!

  • I can't wait for Scotland to get its independence. We are just too different from England so the sooner that we get it the better xD

  • This is the only anthem I ever heard which references a third country with the bitterness of the ex-servant who was maltreated by his master. It is deeply shaming to me to have this shite as my national anthem. I find it incredible there weren't more Scots who understood the inherent Uriah Heap quality to this dirge. It's a fucking national disgrace not a national anthem.
