This by far the best metal opera style metal song I've ever hear. It has movements, seperate feelings, and Dan's feet are on fire the whole fucking time. Kai's vocals, however you want to slice it, are the standard to which all other metal vocalists should be measured. That point aside, how many other vocalists do you know that can write genre creating guitar riffs and leads? And don't even think Mustaine or Ingvie are contenders.

The first time I heard this song in 1999, it quickly became my favorite song despite my young age. In 1999 I was aged only 7 years and say that this is not much younger than 7 years who will love a song Gamma Ray. All that to say this is the best song I've heard of all life.

He sounds much like Rob in his way. And don't forget Gamma Ray as a band is probably the biggest fan of Judas Priest ever, perhaps only topped by Primal Fear. Rob and Kai just as Gamma Ray and Priest has alot in common. Just listen to the music man, Gamma Ray is the next step in the evolution from Priest :)

im totally cool with bands changing vocalists, as long as it is for the better. i just really don't think that sammet is that good of a vocalist. i really don't have a problem with the whole nightwish thing either. i really wouldn't have too much of a problem with someone replacing halford in judas preist after what i heard from nostradomus. type in "ride the sky eugent" to see someone that could potentially replace either halford or kai when their vocals are totally shot as far as high notes.

Since Rocket Ride was released he and his voice mutated into a awful Bon Jovi imitation, especially on Save me and the whole Tinnitus Sanctus crap. I'm glad that there's at least a little glimpse of hope for Avantasia, but it will never be as good as the Metal Opera . He will never be able to become half as good as Hansen. No one has such a badass voice to replace Hansen.

@Grond33 Agree on the sticking to part, yet the main difference between Kai and Tobi is, that Tobi is really a very good singer, but doesn't nearly get the charisma in his voice as Kai does. With every note Kai sings, you hear that he's enjoying what he does. This sympathic and open appearance, combined with his exceptional Vocal AND Guitar skills, makes him really one of the best Metal Artists there ever were, and I would always pick a Gamma Ray Gig over Edguy.

@Sjamsucks First of all, i agree that Kiske is all around a better vocalist than Kai, however, i do not see Kiske's voice working as well as Kai's for this really fast power/speed metal type stuff. Secondly, Scheepers has one of the most annoying voices in all of metal, and if it weren't for Kai Hanson's exemplary song writing skills i wouldn't even be able to tolerate the early Gamma Ray albums. Also, Scheepers' voice is the reason I can't listen to Primal Fear.

@morbidangel989 no one, even kai himself would say he is even close to any good tenor singers like kiske or sheepers. But Kai has the perfect voice for Gamma Ray, like these songs. I personally love the natural raspiness, his ability to go down loooooooow, he has a face melt ability (strangers in the night, heart of the unicorn) AND he can scream high vocals (not bear them but scream at least). He can do everything, alltho not perfect at any, he does it with POWER.

Kai may not be the best Power Metal singer, but he does not change his voice at studio, like other ones do (Tony Kakko, for example). But Gamma Ray is the best Power Metal band ever, due to Kai. Such a man.

I remember seeing a video of their live performance at Hultsfred several years ago where they were performing this song, and the drum timing was completely off. Dan ruined pretty much the best GR song ever. This time, however, he got it right, and the song is there in all its amazing glory.
