  • My boys and I listen to this song every morning on the way to school...love it!

  • you can tell eric isn't digging playing the wooden spoon and cowbell

  • my favorite song for life. god.

  • True Story told by a Liar <3

  • I'm pretty sure the title of the song is "A wild pack of feral dogs", but this guy is just way to autistic to enunciate the word feral. It's cool though, yeah "Family Dogs" thats a great line makes perfect sense.

  • @smooth2904 right man

  • @smooth2904 No, It's called A Wild Pack Of Family Dogs.

  • Classic

  • its about dogs...i heard him say the word dog

  • the assortment of instruments these guys use is simply beautiful. MM for life!!

  • I don't think this song is about religon, I think it's about cops

  • My father quit his job today, well i guess he was fine BUT THAT'S OK!!!!!

  • @looshkin66 I guess he was fired BUT THAT'S OK... lol

  • Tom Peloso (aka Toby from the office) is my hero

  • god is a magical unicorn in the sky that only has your back if you do everything he says. otherwise he gives you superaids and an nonstop itch on the top of your elbow.

  • 1:26 omfg hahahahahahahah issac ur such a dork

  • holy shit their musically fuckin talented

  • Omg.... sooo many instruments. lol Modest Mouse ftw.

  • the wild pack of family dogs is death. they come kill his sister and dog and he didnt say anything at all. but its like they where after him cause when he dies they start floating up towards the glowing sky where they will receive there rewards

  • yep. both of us delivering round house kicks to the face!!

  • dude. if i had the money I'd find the d-bag who disliked this, buy a plane ticket, fly to their house, knock on their door and when they answer punch them in their face!

  • @nclgemini let me know when, well make a double punch !

  • @pszemek111 yep. both of us delivering round house kicks!! :)

  • and thats the end of that true story told by a liar

  • religon does take a major part in his songs as said and maybe there is a god and maybe there isnt...but this song was not ment to target thoughs who belive in god or hate though who belive in him its just one artist expressing his views on the world as he see's it

  • Actually, religion does take part in their songs. Even though he is atheist, he says stories and characters from the bibles are fun to make songs about.

  • such a beautiful song

  • interpretations. there's always one that's pretty much right but can never be exactly. oh well! the song is like the division between dark blue and grey or something.

  • and thats the end of that true story told by a liar.

    lol

  • What a song lol...a whole pack of family dogs.

  • Comment removed

  • @j0lteon yeah this comment is def not the way it goes

  • Why the fuck did religion come into a song by modest mouse? Religion has nothing to do with the music that you listen.

  • Thumbs up if this reminds you somewhat of Daniel Johnston.

  • @leafvillagemonster hell yeah, dude.

  • BUT THAT'S OKAY!

  • This song = WTF?!?

  • can't even tell this is live, ha. sounds like it is straight from the record.

  • I'm a Christian, but I love this song, as it seems to lament at how Christians sometimes are too aggressive in how they try to convert people. Even here in the comments, some people are arguing over the existence of God and those kinds of arguments can get ugly quickly. While I'm on the subject I guess, my take is that God does provide evidence for his belief, but not enough to satisfy some people.

Ultimately, people need faith to have a religion, which is why it is called an illusion sometime

  • P.S. I like the song because oftentimes, we Christians aren't perfect.

  • @mtp234 That is how I interpet the song as well. Another way one could look at it is bad things keep happening and they always will and there is nothing you can do to stop it.

  • and thats a true story told by a liar.

  • my mother is crying blood dust now..

  • @backwardsman1700

    Lust, not Dust.

"Bloodlust": a desire for extreme violence and carnage.

Daughter was just taken away by a pack of family dogs, completely acceptable.

  • modest mouse is my favorite band!

  • @averyirvin same here, i dont see how everybody dosnt like them. theyre the perfect band because theye so different

  • awesome song. kinda comical too. I love Isaac to death, but I would pay to hear him say South Park's "They took our jobs!!".

  • Modest Mouse will never cease to amaze me..

  • Such a melancholy song. More people should know about Modest Mouse. Not this Paramore and Poison bullshit.

  • @WeirdoFreako17 poison? like every rose has its thorn poison? they havent been relevant for twenty fucking years

  • I know. I was just saying more people should appreciate Modest Mouse's music instead of mainstream bullshit.

  • @WeirdoFreako17 What the fuck do Paramore and Poison have in common? But yes, you are right.

  • Honestly, nothing. LOL. I just wanted to say people should give MM more credit because they're actually talented.

  • i really love issacs music but does anybody no what this song means just putting it uot there

  • @MrFunnybunny66

It is widely believed to be about some christians came to his family and converted everyone but Isaac

  • r.e.l.i.g.i.o.n

  • m.o.d.e.s.t.m.o.u.s.e

  • I love genuine Mouse concerts when you can barely hear Isaac during Wild Pack of Family Dogs because *everyone* is singing it. Not that I don't like this concert (it's the best one on youtube) there's just a certain energy to the room when this song hits a true MM audience.

  • Isaac is epic

  • man im so glad i bought the moon & antarctica, its awesome, i wanna buy all their albums.

  • You should. They are all that awesome.

  • you really need to get ahold of "building nothing out of something" hands down thier best work...at least in my opinion

  • Lonesome crowd west and also you should find willfull suspension of disbeleif

  • I think this is Austin City Lights on PBS-not sure?

  • Austin CITY LIMITS

  • Out of curiosity what concert is this? I've seen a few videos from it (Third Planet, Float On) and the quality of both video and audio are awesome, so I want to see the rest.

  • I'm not exactly sure what it was, but I know it was a PBS special with multiple groups, so I'm guessing these songs on youtube are the only ones they played.

  • they played a whole set 3rd Planet Black Cadillacs Ocean Breathes Salty The View Wild Packs Of Family Dogs Float On Satin In A Coffin Bukowski Paper Thin Walls The World At Large Doin' The Cockroach The Good Times Are Killing Me according to a website, someone please put more up videos or did they just film a couple... also dvd release would kick ass, someone should take of that if they filmed that whole set.
  • Hahahahaha, "That's the end of a true story told by a liar."

  • either way it's cool we can both like the song even though we disagree on it

  • srry

  • No, the concept of God is unproven and made up by various religions. The concept of how the universe came to existence is too complex for us right now.

I'm saying we don't know how or why everything came to existence yet.

You're saying, I dont know God did it, and I want my plane ticket to heaven. With no logical connection or tangible evidence.

I think the wild pack of family dogs ate you up before you knew it.

  • Seriously man.....go preach your religion bs some other place. People come here for the music, not to read all your religious bullshit. If your all high and mighty with God then thats cool by me. Just keep all that to youself and stop trying to tell people what is truth when you have no idea, none of us do.

  • got no time no money, that's why

get em up, put em up

    get your dukes up now

  • srry man i just belive strongly and i get pissed easily srry

  • @quicky2103 learn yourslef before you try to change others

  • @google0900 mind your own buisness, instead of chiming in on a comment from almost a year ago. I'm not trying to change anyone from what I can remember from that long ago.

  • @quicky2103 i was agreeing with you

  • @quicky2103 yeah if you loved god like some pepple you would no what will happen ok so stfu!

  • @redvrszach2009 If I loved god as much as you, I would ask him to smite you for being a shitty speller.

  • @quicky2103 thank you for saying this.

  • @quicky2103 bravo

  • Dont you find it even slightly well immoral that your supposed god would deny a human that he claims to love to an eternity of pain and suffering for the crime of pursuing a life of scientific inquiry and learning? dont you think your god would reward somebody for being so fascinated for what he apparently created?

Wasnt gonna comment until the last part =/ atheist here and I despise religious people who look down on those who disagree.

  • issacs lyrics are not just entertainment they are true stories and if u guys would actually look in on this stuff isaac had a difficult childhood his family didnt have a ton of money in lived in the basement and thts were he got the wrong idea of God

  • amazing song! eric judy lol

  • this has nothing to do with religion issac brock doesesnt have a religion and doesent care bout it(so wat he says)i think he should have a religion hes a cool guy and gifted by God but i think its bout death too

  • he knows that religion is a crock of shit, but usues biblical characters and religion to make interesting lyrics for entertainment. for example cowboy dan (devil). religion has entertained minds since we could come up with that crap.

  • are you saying people dont make organized religions, Or that isaac couldnt have made up this song? Btw dont you think your selling isaac short by saying he was randomly chosen by an unproven dude in the sky to write great songs about how silly religion is (ex styrofoam boots)?

  • I dont think god is a fake. I cannot assume there is a god to begin with. No one has any tangible evidence to connect a god to creating the world we live in, or his existence.

Not trying to be a dick but the "who made us and this world" argument sucks.

    1. If you think its a "god", define "god" then provide proof

    2. And of course if god created everything, who created god

"tell your gods, i wanna speak to their fathers"-ive got it all(most)

  • I love Tom Peloso's bass part!

  • Yeah I dig how is head is bopping around. Just adds to the whole effect. Good stuff

  • I like his popped collar he's looking pretty ballin

  • Thanks for posting. When this originally aired I went to the liqour store and bought a bottle of Whiskey and eagerly awaited the show on PBS, when it starts, I'm pupmed and buzzed and guess what.. no audio, just video!!! Talk about being bummed man. Well, good to see it years later. Been a fan forever, Moved from Florida to west seattle (nice area, not hip at all) and Eric wound up being my neighbor by three doors.. funny...they rock!

  • It's about religion ruining the lives of others and carrying on as if they've done something righteous and good. As if bringing a dogmatic problem to people will send them to heaven, no matter what the actual consequences were.

  • This song is just silly.... lol

  • No, it's not silly. Its about death, losing family, and having an overall bad life.

  • Its actually a true song told by a liar

  • I had never been a song skipper, but the for the first year of listening to the Moon and antarctica I skipped over this song and I think it was way up until I saw this when it originally aired on PBS that I started to love this song. I don't know why I didn't like it at first, but I almost feel like I cheated myself out of 3 years of loving this song.

  • Moon and Antarctica definitely has some of my favorite Mouse songs.

  • I think Good News and all the albums before that were really good. The new album sounds a little to poppy.

  • not really in to modest mouse's most recent album but this song is still awsome

  • yeah, this isn't off their new album.

  • Haha

  • Your sort of off by two albums, this is from The Moon and Antarctica. It's pretty damn amazingm you should check it out.

  • I know the song's off moon and antarctica, I have the album and it is my favorite from the band, I was just stating that their most recent album in my opinion isn't really that good.

  • awsome. thanks for posting
