Big thanks to Jim Gillette (a Metal singer who is also a classically trained opera singer) for introducing me to one of the most powerful voices I've heard.
What can one say? He is the greatest tenor I have ever heard in my 82 years. Not even Placido Domingo can so easily reach those high notes. His moral life sucked. Yes.
But he was all love. For music and for the ladies.
@FeignofCordor The song was composed by Ernesto De Curtis with words by brother Giambattista; English lyrics by Claude Aveling. Written in 1894, but not copyrited till 1905, per Wiki. The song is a lyric poem to the beauty of Surriento, and it's beautiful seaside location. It is also an entry to a lost love to return to him and his beautiful Surriento.

That's right my friend, the original song is dedicated to the Prime Minister, but the fact is that this is a new version was arranged, many years ago for a girl, cause the big success of the original. This version said "Femme Camppa" or Girl come back to Surriento !

is it me or is it that now we have no good singers and all the singers we have are or sound like girls in america seems like we got ****ed in this deal wtf
@Drsalimassal It may seem strange to many, but this song is dedicated to a man. Here are the facts: In September of 1902, the Prime Minister, Giuseppe Zanardelli made an official visit to Sorrento. He took an apartment where Giambattista De Curtis used to work as a fresco painter.

love Pavarotti and love this song. Can someone tell me if I heard this song in the background of one of the "Godfather" movies - it makes me think of that movie for some reason.
this song is sung a bit slower than i remember. still i can hear the emocion put into it and i enjoy it a lot more. i LOVE the ending. thank you so much pavarotti. you will always be missed and adored.
I remember as a boy` my uncle` Dick Walker singing this song in the pub while out for a pint with my dad. He sung round the clubs in Glasgow I believe, I have lost touch but think he is still living in Glasgow. If anyone knows his whereabouts?.....post it here plz
Luciano Pavarotti was the best operatic singer ever and to hear him sing the best song ever is just too much to handle for anybody. This is just absolutely wonderful, words can't explain how lovely this is.
