You don't punish a kid like an adult since kids do not have the brain development to appreciate what they are doing. Recent brain imaging studies are demonstrating that the brain is not mature enough to comprehend violent acts until the age of 21 or 22. We are talking about the anatomy - the actual structure of the brain. Not some mushy concept like insanity.

I don't believe he really understood what he was doing, however he needs to be made aware that there are consequences to actions. He should be placed in juvenile rehabilitation until he is older. Maybe 16 or 18. But why should they kill a young child to show others that killing is wrong? that makes no sense. Punishment is this case needs to be carefully considered.

First of all, under the law an 8 year old can be sent to jail because they have been recognized as being able to know the difference between right and wrong. Well he got a plea bargain and didnt do any time but as to what caused it is still a mystery. Unfortunately police interrogated him without any parental consent or lawyer present (illegal) and they didnt read him his rights (illegal). Furthermore a child of this age, their brain is underdeveloped. Police interrogations are so brutal they can convince an innocent man hes guilty by torturing him to a light degree. Ex. lack of sleep, not allowed to use the restroom, etc.

First of all, under the law an 8 year old can be sent to jail because they have been recognized as being able to know the difference between right and wrong. He knows that shooting his dad and his friend was a bad thing but I agree with some of you that there has to be a reason behind it. Possible sexual abuse or something. I don't buy the "Too much Call of Duty" give kids more credit than that & stop blaming video games!

There is definitely way more going on here than meets the eye. I'm not sure I believe he did it...way too much footage cut from the video the cops released and there are clips of him describing what he found coming home from school. The boys father was a hunter and I'm sure he taught his son "the rule" about ending a creatures suffering. Only the boy, his father and our Father knows.

Well he got a plea bargain and didnt do any time but as to what caused it is still a mystery. Unfortunately police interrogated him without any parental consent or lawyer present (illegal) and they didnt read him his rights (illegal). Furthermore a child of this age, their brain is underdeveloped. Police interrogations are so brutal they can convince an innocent man hes guilty by torturing him to a light degree. Ex. lack of sleep, not allowed to use the restroom, etc.

(just a thought) programs and video games or children showing them shooting/ getting shot then ALWAYS coming back to life. Having several lives in games...
