I hope you guys realize that the skyline is comes in numerous form in japan. There is a 2 and 4 door family saloon version (GT), fast coupe version (GTS some are also rwd turbo GTS-T etc) depending on the year some have the rb series engine or a V6. Most people associate the skyline only with the GTR edition but hey you learn something new everyday right.
ok first off i know that that may be called a skyline, but is it really? they dropped the real skyline in 2002 and brought it back as just the GTR. The Rx8 and Skyline dont measure up to what their former glory was with twin trubos, and bloody fast acceleration. the new ones are pathetic NA slow week models other then the GTR

Example, there was/is a skyline GT, skyline GTS, Skyline 25GGT-V, etc. Some were good, other were heavy low powered sedans and coupes, but the then badged Skyline GT-R was, and will always be AWESOME. So GTR now, is seperated from Skyline, but remains the ULTIMATE Nissan sports coupe. Dont have much mustangs where im at. Are there different specs or is it just MUSTANG?

miatas are great cars but in this video it lacks power against the other cars. The miata is the best car here if modded with a small turbo just so it can hang with the other cars in the staright aways, but cornering it dominates.

I use to own a modded wrx and competed a bit with it....non boosted miatas would straight dominate me and every other car there (evo, vettes, etc). If you've never driven one...do it, it isn't celebrated as one of the best cars ever made for nothing.

@smausetrap a big amen there trap; just picked up #812 of 4000 from the 91 line; has more then a few miles on it, but who wants the stock parts anyway. easily one of the most satisfying driving experiences around. running my cousin out to grandma and pa's, doing about 65, pulled a hard stoppie and slide, flawless and smooth, into a back roads driveway about 5 or 6 feet wide. power per pound, cornering, braking, driving line capability, tight turn performance.... all just excellent; beautiful.
@JeusDante i dont think it was embarrassed that that bad considering it was in the lead for the first lap. the track was very straight and had some high speed corners that helped the skyline and wrx over take the rx8. if it was all tight like the first half of the track i think it would have been the s2000 and rx8 dominating.
@JeusDante It's because the rx-8 is a rotary engine and does not produce as much torque as the piston engines. It may have alot of hp but torque matters alot comming out of the corners. Plus the rx-8 is a little heaver and, well the s2000 just plain dominates handling wise!
they should have had the best motoring crew do this race the s2k and rx8 would probably be in 1st and 2nd most likely followed by the mx5 or itr I've either owned or driven all these cars the suspension and grip isn't all that great on the skyline and wrx so they would fall back due to braking and understeer or oversteer in the turns the skyline would win if it was a 1/4 mile race but when I had my g35 it was not that stable through corners compared to the other cars and the wrx is too soft

@Briansantiago11 infinity has the 350 and 370 Z platform. Skyline GTR however is in a game of its own. There is even a skyline GTS which is like a normal family car. In Japan they are like civics over there.

I'll tell you what to say. The s2000 price tag is 5000$ higher on a same year model. (cough enough money for a turbo and exhaust in the RX8? GG s2000?) Besides being overrpriced, you enjoy garaging your s2000 when you are doing anything other then racing, thanks to no back seats, no trunk space, no radio, no ac no heat, etc etc.

WTF, how did that RSX R pass the rx8. What happened to all that talk about rotary engines bred for the track; the S2000...way out in front, now that's designed for the track.
The engine has nothing to do with it, you idiot. The RSX R has a track-tuned suspension and better tires, which translates into better handling. Handling is more important in a circuit than horsepower.

They test different cars in similar class or price range just to compare them. These races are not meant to race cars against each other per se, but to provide viewers with the track times of different cars on the Tsukuba Circuit.
No, the Nissan Skyline V35 are actually slower than the North American Infiniti G35. The coupe version of the Nissan Skyline V35 had only 280hp while the Infiniti G35 had around 300hp. The difference is negligible anyway.

Miata all the way. You may not get all that power but its handling is definatly worth it. Its also a very solid and reliable car. And with the many thousands of dollars you'll save over the S2K, you could maybe supercharge it or something.

actually no. The rsx is really known as the dc5 (newer model integra). There different, in japan and europe the rsx is called a integra because the acura market is non existent, however in America it is called a acura rsx to follow the letter coding of acura's cars. The base model (168 hp) is same as the integra type s, and the type s (210 hp) in america is the best rsx(dc5) you can find in America; however, the type r is the BEST dc5 in general. It has 220 hp.

If do a bit of research, before the R32 GT-R(2.5L I6 AWD) the Skyline brand used to nothing but FR sedans. Probably what Nissan is trying to do is now is to go back to its roots and separate the Skyline from the GTR.

1 or 2 more laps that Infini/Nissan/Skyline/350 would have went past the s2ooo. Which was surprising. If it wears the Infini badge it means it packed to the teeth with comfort and electronic gizmos right. Either way, pretty cool race. The Integra did well too getting past the Mazda RX too.
yet again this video proves it. stock rx8 can keep up or follow behind s2000 but never will surpass it.(in both handling and straight line speed) it just disgust me how so many rx8 owners keep clamin that they can take out s2000 in stock vs stock and if not its drivers race or someshit. Seriously, they believe that? I never hear it. I thought they liked the RX-8 b/c it's cheaper, has 4 seats and it's "close enough". I'm a rotary fan but I'm disappointed in the RX-8 b/c it's so half-hearted. It's nice but mostly from tech developed by others or old stuff. We're still waiting for direct injection, and the advanced materials of the s2k aren't even slated. So lazy. I miss the days when rotary auxiliary induction beat its equivalent (VTEC) by 5 years, and then did more.

I'll tell you what to say. The s2000 price tag is 5000$ higher on a same year model. (cough enough money for a turbo and exhaust in the RX8? GG s2000?) Besides being overrpriced, you enjoy garaging your s2000 when you are doing anything other then racing, thanks to no back seats, no trunk space, no radio, no ac no heat, etc etc.

anyway the s2000 did very good, but at the end of the day it is the size of a match box and it doesn't have a roof lol.
The much heavier skyline kept up pretty well considering its massive weight dissadvantage that kept making the back end step out.
Throw in a new R35 GTR and the race would be over in half the time lol

The engine has nothing to do with it, you idiot. The RSX R has a track-tuned suspension and better tires, which translates into better handling. Handling is more important in a circuit than horsepower.

This race was only a test of different cars in similar price range. The race was actually a part of a Japanese car reviewing show called Best Motoring. They test different cars in similar class or price range just to compare them. These races are not meant to race cars against each other per se, but to provide viewers with the track times of different cars on the Tsukuba Circuit.

No, the Nissan Skyline V35 are actually slower than the North American Infiniti G35. The coupe version of the Nissan Skyline V35 had only 280hp while the Infiniti G35 had around 300hp. The difference is negligible anyway.

Miata all the way. You may not get all that power but its handling is definatly worth it. Its also a very solid and reliable car. And with the many thousands of dollars you'll save over the S2K, you could maybe supercharge it or something.

Yeah because if u were racing and didn't rev-match the engine going through the corner your car would induce a big jerk or jolt which shifts your car's weight around and potentiallyputting u in danger of crashing off the road or with others.
I can't heel and toe....then again I am a begginner...and I don't race lol.

actually no. The rsx is really known as the dc5 (newer model integra). There different, in japan and europe the rsx is called a integra because the acura market is non existent, however in America it is called a acura rsx to follow the letter coding of acura's cars. The base model (168 hp) is same as the integra type s, and the type s (210 hp) in america is the best rsx(dc5) you can find in America; however, the type r is the BEST dc5 in general. It has 220 hp.

Actually.... you are pretty wrong about the that this cars doesn't deserve the Skyline name. What you are referring to is the GT-R. If do a bit of research, before the R32 GT-R(2.5L I6 AWD) the Skyline brand used to nothing but FR sedans. Probably what Nissan is trying to do is now is to go back to its roots and separate the Skyline from the GTR.
So legitimately the Infinity G35/37 are Skylines.
Just not R-series or GTRs.

If you go to most of the R 32,3,4 fans they will agree with me that this skyline in the video doesn't belong in the family. Its a family car not a sports car.
Oh by the way the R23 GTR has a 2.6L engine not 2.5

1 or 2 more laps that Infini/Nissan/Skyline/350 would have went past the s2ooo. Which was surprising. If it wears the Infini badge it means it packed to the teeth with comfort and electronic gizmos right. Either way, pretty cool race. The Integra did well too getting past the Mazda RX too.

yet again this video proves it. stock rx8 can keep up or follow behind s2000 but never will surpass it.(in both handling and straight line speed) it just disgust me how so many rx8 owners keep clamin that they can take out s2000 in stock vs stock and if not its drivers race or someshit. Seriously, they believe that? I never hear it. I thought they liked the RX-8 b/c it's cheaper, has 4 seats and it's "close enough". I'm a rotary fan but I'm disappointed in the RX-8 b/c it's so half-hearted. It's nice but mostly from tech developed by others or old stuff. We're still waiting for direct injection, and the advanced materials of the s2k aren't even slated. So lazy. I miss the days when rotary auxiliary induction beat its equivalent (VTEC) by 5 years, and then did more.
