  • The Tip below is not always accurate either but it helps to beatmatch fast and get closer to the perfect accurate speed just sometimes you might have to add .02 or less .02 etc., that's when your hearing comes in to help, that's why it's important to train your ears since it is impossible to Accurately Beatmatch on just looking @ BPM numbers.

  • I agree that you have to train your ear to beatmatch since Music is a hearing Art and the original DJ craft was based on Vinyls without BPM counters. But like you said when you are becoming nervous and you are mixing for your life, you can look at your BMPs, CDj's are not 100% accurate so here's a little tip to help you...go by Eights.

First track = 130.00 BPM Second Track=129.00 now on the second track add .08 and it should be exactly 130 BPM matched. +.08 = 1BPM +.16= 2 BPMs Etc. :)

  • Nice to see / hear a dj saying the way to learn is with your ears . When I started Djing We didn't hav BPM counters just are ears and mind .

  • Thanks man! I'm learning on the CDJ 2000's and am tempted to take all the short-cuts technology is now offering but you've convinced me to learn by ear and the basics before taking short cuts. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Gotta run, on to the next tutorial... Keep it up meng.

  • mhm, moonbootica :D geiles ding, hat mir sehr geholfen :D

  • :O u stole "prctise and enjoy" from Ellaskins/Dj Tutor right!?!?!?

  • @JHpr0duction actually alot of people say have said that in their videos now. it shouldnt bother you though, its no big deal

  • @DJNardini yeah i know, just messin

  • "i once did a wideo"

  • Great vid, thank you.

  • learn to german muther fokker

  • Heey man, i had to watch the vid a few times to get the idea but you've got a REALLY good point there indeed.

  • heeey not exactly 127!

  • no idea what are you saying bro !

  • you are not from england/america right ? :)

  • I think he is German, but who cares??

  • im from germany too.. no one but i simply wanted to know..

  • Recht haste :)

    Danke für den Beitrag

  • Never Thought of this, but like you clearly explain, when the situation is like you being nervous of something it could really be a nice help getting the tracks nearly matched. Great tip staffrecordplayer.

  • SO LONG!!!!!

  • I have the Gem sound CDM - 150 integraded unit a low end Deck and it does not have the bpm counters so I have to use my ears like or not but if the is the better way then I am on the right track. I just need some good head phones.

  • great way for beginners but like u said the best way is to train your ears

  • porque tapan los bmps?

  • I would love to see you explain every piece of this information in a language that isnt you're mother tounge.. You jerk

  • Well if he rushed it, no one would get the point, it's not always about demonstration...

Baring in mind, his English isn't the best, but things need explaining for people to understand them...

    Nice video StaffRecordPlayer

  • He's trying to fucking explain you ignorant fuck

  • don't trust these bpm counters

  • niceee

  • good job sir

  • Thank you friend you my best teacher much love from Poland!

  • i think i love you.....you put things into such better perspective for me...thanks alot!!!! =D i love u fuckin euros u guys are awesome!!

  • lool :D

    Cool comment, thx

  • Be careful though, because the bpm read-out is very innaccurate...as a track can be 125.67896 bpm but will only say 125 on the read-out... so only use it as a guide...but it does help you get the pitch close...so training your ears is the best way...

  • just a quick question, where is a good place to download mp3's at a low price which are unmixed???

  • trackitdown . net

  • rapidshare, zippyshare or sommething...

  • yeah but the best way is to buy the tracks beacuse that way you help the djs to keep producing

  • @Chook1212

    Beatport.com

  • Ebből meg lehet tanulni mixelni én mondom. Man can learn all about mixing of this video. I can mix pro of the videos I saw. So it' s great.

  • i havent practice for a long time but i start mixing the other day i put the bpm at the same number as the other track but i cant beatmatch the song, when i cue the second song and im hearing in my headphones its sounds off every time i press play, so my question is when to play the second song? i really need help i want to improve

  • try using Cue button

  • very helpfull mate im just starting out and cant beat match without the digital reading. this info will get me mixing tracks n help me progress to using my ears not my eye.

  • Ye, but remember that you can only learn it by doing it with your ears :)

  • i should not really admit to this but i never thought of doing that, i was leavin one track at original bpm then thyin to match the other to it bit if first track is for example 127.4 bpm the cdj only reads that as 127 bmp, so if i set it to 128 bpm then it will be at near as damn it 128bpm and do the same with other deck then things should be easier :)

  • it's not your idea though is it? it's not really advice from your mind is it? people have been doing this for years ...

stop hijacking methods and farming them off as your own

  • Propably there are thousands out there doing this, but I didnt find any video on utoobe.

This is not about me showing how cool my ideas are, this is just about helping people and discussing ideas ... and if my video did help only a single guy, Im happy ;)

  • he never claimed it as his own original idea dickhead

  • relax dude :P

  • the beatmatching software is perfectly, the cdj 400 just doesnt show u more than 3 numbers, heres missnig the decimal nubmers, thats the reason why there is a corruption of the true beat value. Maybe the softwre is rounding it mathematically, but i dont know exactly how pioneer handled that.

  • pionner has bpm lock so it rounds it up for you and also if it starts at 128 it will stay at 128 will not move at all if it trys to move the cdj will keep it there... that is why people swar by pionner... i have seen djs however that use pionner go onto other decks and not be able to use them because they do not lissen they trust the bpm lock to keep then in beat... so the mix goes wrong... they then continue to blam the decks saying ther no at as good as pionner but realy its just they cant mix

  • haha blaming the decks for their failures ^^

  • not at all,

dont trust beat counters, theyre not accurate for shit

for one song it may be perfect,

but for another one it could be one or two out

use it as a VERY rough guide,

but if you use your ears and you musical brain, youll hear instantley if it needs to be pushed or pulled when it starts to clang

good video for begginers who wanna practice mixing the tunes up, but for beatmatching, start with some vinyls :)

  • yeah i suppose,i'm just be constructively critical

    Good day :)

  • staffrecord and me, we are pretty new DJ's, and we like the idea of motivating and helping other people like the djtutor is doing. Im lacking motivation of doing a helping video myself :p

But when staffrecordplayer wants to do it, let him do, its youtube ... ^^

  • Yes youre right, this is just a tip for the total beginner. And as I say, of course you should always use mainly your ears to beatmatch and than any software and you cant get better at beatmatching by looking on a LED :)

  • thats cheating in my opinion, i think people should actually practice and get good at beatmatching

i never trust beat counters either, maybe just as a rough estimate or a reference point

  • nice.

  • No pro dj will trust a bpm counter, not even in a club situation due to the fact, that no bpm counter can be a 100% accurate. Bpm counters are absolutely useless when it comes to music like breakbeats or drum and bass due to the structure of the music, good djs work by ear. if you are in a club and the monitor system is shite, set the mix up in your headphones..
