Funny how in every youtube cover songs clips, the top comments is always some guy saying "stop comparing the cover with the original" or something along those lines with slight variations.
@shedevil50337 Have you heard alot of Type O songs? Back in my high school days when I was a goth..lol... I got into Type O and at first I was scared to listen to them and now I think its sexy as hellllll!!!!!!! <3
@dyan1219 yep, there are so many versions of this stupid song; & type o negative was the 1st i heard. tkind of like deadsy, i guess they do a lot of cover songs
@dyan1219 I love Radiohead and Thom Yorke has a wonderful voice, but I think Type O Neg's version of this song is better. That's not saying that this wasn't great though. lol There's just something about Pete Steele's voice which is perfect for this song.
Why is it suddenly so fucking fashionable to diss Radiohead? Sure, they're not underground enough for the pretentious dicks, but they're a real solid band with a great overall output. Neil Young is demigod, and that's the god's honest truth.
@sfklein1 radiohead fans actually do tend to have high IQs based on the limited research done in that area. of the results i saw, only mozart, U2 and ,oddly enough, counting crows fans had a higher average IQ. This means you may want to readjust your expectations to align with reality more accurately.
@sfklein1 The comment to which you're replying has no spelling or wording errors. Also, you spelled "speak" incorrectly. And don't think I missed your erroneous correction of "your." Begone, troll.
I'll try really hard to ignore the "this version might be better comment"....WOW! That's like saying Van Halen did Won't Get Fooled Again, better than THE WHO! This song was "GRUNGE" long before the word ever became a "Seattle-thing!" Neil Young is the God-Father of this style. It's nice Radiohead paid tribute, they did a fine job. Not that most 12 year-old garage bands can't! It's the easiest of songs to learn, but that's what also makes it special. And Radiohead are not simple musicians!
smashing pumpkins, the cure, joe walsh, pearl jam, red hot chili peppers, and now radiohead. all cover neil young. i have no choice but to check him out now
@Bayview05 You've never listened to Neil Young. Oh, you'll be introduced to 1 of the greatest songwriters of all-time. Especially listen to the songs he did when he was with Crosby, Still, Nash and Young. The song "Ohio" is excellent. But if you want to get a great cd from his solo stuff... get the 1 called "Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere". Cinnamon Girl is the 1st song that's on it.
Must be Neil's most covered song... at least 8 different bands/performers, including John Entwistle, just here on Utbe. Funny... no accounting for taste as they say, but when I was getting into Neil's catalog back in the mid-70s and onward my opinion was that if there was one negligible, slight, easy to overlook NY song Cinnamon Girl would be right at the top.
When someone covers a song, it's not cause they want to be as good as/better than the original artist, it's cause they like the song and/or the artist. So stop comparing this to the original, just enjoy both, or if you don't like it, it being too unlike the original isn't a reason.
@flobbypeas241 I can agree with you on that... but The Beatles are an exception. I think all the covers they done were better than the originals. But that's my opinion.
amateurish..radiohead is better than this for sure..sounds tired & feels like a shitty unfocused garage band...tom yorke sounded like a sloppy karaoke guy singing, no attitude at all...leave neil young covers to pearl jam...even neil himself said once that he prefered this songs via eddie vedder, just listen to keep on rocking in the free world, fucking up & harvest moon & you'll know what the fuck im talking about, period
