  • So many morons without brains commenting here. Excellent commercial.

  • Women are property.

  • @NTMCG women are not property, dude. your mom owns YOU, i can tell you that right now..

  • Feminist writings are often misandristic -but that hate is liberation... right? HOW IS FEMINISM WRONG?? Google: Dr. Warren Farrell, Dr. Murray Straus,Dr. Christina Hoff Sommers,Dr. Helen Smith,Dr. Katherine K. Young,Dr. Julia Hislop,Dr. Stephen Baskerville,Carrie L. Lucas,Dr. Donald Dutton,Dr. Martin S. Fiebert. Feminist rebuttle - "ANTI-FEMINIST!!" Brilliant! YouTube: Female Sexual Abuse,TVontario Men Maleness and Equality, Dr. Baskerville War on Fatherhood,Wage Gap Myth

  • Men and women are not equal - that is just a fact.

No one seems to complain about the 4 women-only health clubs in my community. (There are no men-only health clubs, of course.)

No one complained when a federal office building installed more women's bathrooms than men's, because of long lines.

I just laugh when I hear about "gender equality"!

  • NO BALLS NO GLORY!

  • @1sputnic i thought it was guts..

  • Denied an education!? There are more women in college than men.

    Stupid commercial.

  • @striker1224 Actually it's still true in places like rural India, Afghanistan, parts of Africa, etc. because of cultural stigma or poverty. It's too bad the commercial didn't mention the high instance of female infanticide.

  • Thats the last penny trocaire gets off me.

  • Also the NGO is Trocaire which is a Catholic run third world charity so theres some proof that the Catholic Church of today isn,t negative towards women

  • Thanks, I heard this on radio in Ireland. An it was like WHAT they really say it. Unfortunate my brother and friend were not listening to the radio that moment. Goes to my playlist.

  • It was on television too and was meant to be on television for the 40 days of lent but was banned by RTE and/or the broadcasting authority(someone from Ireland can correct as to precisely who banned it) halfway through lent as it was deemed too political. But by then it had been seen by everyone anyway.

  • Well done Trocaire for highlighting this problem and by doing so they are not saying that bad things are not happening to boys- but by this being banned they will not be able to highlight them - nothing short of political censorship

  • A typical case of, let's make sure we don't upset a few people and then we upset a greater number.

    Shame of you BCI

  • Well I for one feel that as a gender inequality advert it is wrong to single out a single gender as suffering more than another. Millions of boys around the world are forced into child armies, forced into hard physical labour and denied education etc. The ad is gender divisive and does not stand for gender inequality, it simply uses the suffering of females as this would generate more money than an ad showing young boys. Poor form Trocaire, I'm surprised at you.

  • It's not ignoring the suffering that millions of boys around the world go through; it is merely highlighting what is suffered by many, many female children. Choosing to focus on one problem does not equate with ignoring another. I'm sure Trocaire would like to have an add that shows the problems faced by everyone in the Third World today, but it would be several hours long...

  • I think this should read "women's equality" or such since it does not address males. Although most of the world's violence appears to fall on males, which might be politically incorrect to reveal, I would support an ad that featured an equal number of males and females. It would be a significant step away from the direction of "women good, men bad".

  • Your first sentence makes no sense. Gender (in)equality affects and is due to the actions of both sexes - equality doesn't work by isolating a group, its about how different groups interact.

Your middle sentence ... confuses me.

And this is not about "women good, men bad" at all - your simplifying the issue and missing the whole point.

  • This ad specifically did not demonize men but it is tagged to refer to the women's day and that is a time when feminist groups come out making questionable statements about the state of women. Charities, governments, political parties and human rights organizations also do often have a one dimensional view of gender equality where only women are discriminated against, therefore it is not a stretch to expect bias. The Trocaire site is all about women's hardship and arguably makes stuff up.

  • I have not denied that gender inequality affects both groups, more like the opposite.

My complaint was that the ad and the campaign isolates a group as oppressed, using lies or/and selective citing of facts, and another as privileged without real evidence.

I have not denied that both sexes contribute to gender equality or inequality.

  • Sad truth to say. Nobody talks about boys' problems and hardships like they're so perfectly ok.

  • This is not to say that males don't suffer they do, however they have more (to all) access to education, better health care. they can walk down the street with out being worried about getting raped, and men have all the rights in divorce and financed. Men do suffer but, we are talking about access and power which sadly men are the ones who have it. Women are undervalued and are treated as merchandise that's the issue = Accesses to power and privilege!

  • @MalChikGey25 What about when a man gets raped by a woman or another man and has less support than a woman would have in the same situation?

  • This has nothing to do with gender inequality or to do with political awareness. Its to do with the regulations that independent radio stations have to adhere to. The BCI states clearly that independent radio stations are not allow broadcast adverts with political message. The BCI has yet to rule on this ad for gender equality within the UN.

  • Unfortunately, some people have become so soft skinned that they can no longer face the reality of the way the world really is. It's a sad sign of the world that we live in

  • This is a great advert and campaign. It is really moving and hit homes with the truth of gender inequality. It is shocking that this ad has been pulled by BCI and may potentially be banned. Well done to RTE for not following suit. BCI need to examine their policy on what is a political message. I hope somehow that this controversy leads to increased impact of the message. Well done Trocaire.

  • great ad... it is shocking that it has been banned. Where is the world going in the name of political correctness??? I detect a conspiracy...

  • why is this banned? my god what is wrong with the world when good works are being blocked?///

  • yeahh.. husayn comell

  • Great Video! This advert is high impact and really gets the viewer questioning the issue of Gender Equality! Well done Trocaire...
