It's true... Although it would seem that the surgery made it alot easier for him, I can perform the same thing. Anybody can do it, the real skill is having the guts to try it the first time, and the knowledge to do it right.

Melvin performed in NYC and flew home and had a stroke when he got off the plane. He hung around about a week after the stroke and then passed. He was cremated and had his ashes sprinkled off the pier at Coney Island. He was one of the greatest performers I have ever seen and was my mentor the past few years of his life.
