@moogyboy6 back then i didn't even use a drawing pad everything i did was with the mouse and without any rough sketches you can't pull off 300 cliparts in 3 to 4 days by sketching hehe but nowadays to design characters i take my time and i use a drawing pad it's a lot easier and much more accurate

@lol9392 you're talking about a 3d scanner? if you have clay characters that you created with your bare hands and want to scan them a 3d scanner is your only solution but once you learn how to work on a 3d sculpting and animation software then you won't need to scan them you'll design them directly on the software

@leonidhaimov actually no back then i hated using pens and i drew this using a mouse like i drew everything else... around 300 cliparts per magazine issue finished in 3 to 4 days hehe but nowadays i use a drawing pen it's a lot easier! and a lot more fun!

Hi there. I am out of curiosity and interest of how the objects such as the head you did in this tutorial got fillable and what does the faucet function do? Same with the shades you did at 3:47.

@ThomasandDBZ2010 well in order to color in using flash you use the bucket tool but the bucket tool won't work unless the lines are connected. and the fawcet tool is to delete an entire space of color at the same time same as the one you colored with the bucket tool. it's just to make coloring and deleting colors easier

alright its pretty good. although the only problem is that its not 3D its shading and also it wasn't really a tutorial it was more you showing everyone how good you are at Flash. other than that i think you very good at animation!

@iWindBlade hehe animation is awesome. but it's very time consuming and you gotta be really calm and not get bored easily to work with it! my second job is my dream job which is voice over acting. you just sit infront of a mic use your voice and make over 300 dollars for a 20 second recording :D

hey :) what i did there was add the alpha effect it's more known as transparency so that the colors i created on the left side would merge with the colors on the right creating the illusion of shadow and what i added even further is the blur effect to give it more of a realistic look :)

how do you get it colored in an instant when you draw. It doens't work by me. Any tips?

there's a bucket tool :) whenever you draw a circle or a line connected to itself at the end you can color inside it with the bucket tool but if the lines aren't connected it wouldn't allow you.. so the face is all connected around it. the chin the cheeks etc they're connected that way you can color in with a click

well depends on the animation technique :) if you're doing frame by frame or rotoscoping or cell animation then yes you have to redraw it slightly changed on every frame to get the full effect ( i do that ) but i also use other techniques of animation mixing this technique and others to make it more like the simpsons for example. or family guy :)

i tried working on cs4 it's a failed software... too big too complex and too slow even on incredibly fast computers so i would recomend you use flash cs3 and no i'm not a coder i'm an animator

i watch a lot of "American Dad" and "Family Guy". How long do you think it would take ONE animator to animate an episode of 20 minutes ?

I know they do it in teams, but lets speculate.

If one pays attention to the anis of "AD" and "FG" you'll realize that there is very little "body" animation most animated parts is the eyes and mouth. Guess it saves them a lot of time by limit the body-animation to a minimum.

And what do you think the fps is with "AD"+"FG" ? 18 fps or less ?

left is the mask with the shadows effect, right the drawing without shadowing (2D). He cuts out the eyes because they don't need shadow and merges both of them together to a 3D picture.

"3D" ... it still is flat 2D but the shadow effect gives it a 3-dimensional look.

i guess that is what he was doing... better ask him.
