I'm from NJ, I'd stay in Spokane for 3 days, it was a rainy week, but the days I could, I'd walked on downtown, I loved the buildings architecture, they are all linked one to another, I visited the mall, good food (not much options at the mall) but it was good, the downtown area is so clean, broad avenues and streets...

Outside downtown the city needs more investments on real estate, houses are to old fashioned, but it didn't take the charm of the city..

I really loved been here..

Pretty cool pictures, I've been to an "estimated" 20 different countries and anywhere else in the states that compare to Spokane... I still choose Spokane

It's such a great city, its a small town vs big town combined to make a great city.

regardless of all the hype, and the propaganda..Spokane is a great and humbnle community and is a fabulous place to live. the joys of surrounding nature and a taste of the city all in one neat little package. Still the country's final frontier, and a source of many great actors, comedians, and more....

My boyfriend grew up in Omak - he doesn't like Spokane that much - but my whole family grew up here and there's so many amazing buildings here. I like out in Otis Orchards now by the Idaho border, but I grew up in Spokane Valley. :)

I was there as an exchange student 8 years a go!!. It was the best year of my life!! I'll be there soon to visite the great people that lives there. I love Spokane!

@Ellercorupt101 Transportation? I have to take the bus from Otis Orchards to Cheney to get to school and work and although it takes a while, it has been dependable. I mean, what do I expect, to get there in 45 minutes like when I drive? As for the city getting shut down, that was for everyone's safety. The roads were awful, the snow was too deep and based on how the freeways were constantly being clogged BEFORE the heavy snow, the city felt it would be wiser to simply close it down.

@Ellercorupt101 hahaha,so right.these pics r great,almost makes spokane look like a nice place.The murder rate is through the roof in spokane.For a town this small,I think its unusuall to have had 2 family members murdered in seperate incidents.When my sister was killed the cops didnt even take the murder weapon.just left it layin there.I guess they got tired from stringin all the police tape up.

I'm from western Canada, and I've been to Spokane a number of times, and I really like it. People in Spokane are very friendly, and the city has a nice look. I'm surprised to see so many negative comments about it.

dude you need to add the davenport hotel and tower. that's spokane's pride next to the lilac. it was voted the 3rd best in the country and 5th in the world on orbitz..plz add it!

Is there a lot of gang trouble in Spokane too? Shame. It seems to be all over the state. I live in the Tri-Cities and while we do have gangs, it's no where near as bad as Yakima. I hope it stays that way. They need to get a handle on these punks before they ruin the state!

i went to spokane when i was very young and on the very first day there i witnessed a bad accident in downtown where the EMTS came and it got messy and then if that wasn't enough i saw a chick fight where sum lady had all her blond extensions ripped out. But otherwise i thought it was a cool place. It's just way too isolated from everything.

i was born here at the holy family hospital, lived there for about four years then my parents moved to yakima washington....i visit spokane a lot cause most of my family lives there, but its becoming a place i dont like going to, with all the gangs and violence, its sad im starting to feel unsafe in my "home town" but still a nice city indeed.. wouldnt wanna live there again though

I lived in Spokane for 4 months during the summer of 2009. I really loved it there and after a, " Unexplainable" breakup between myself and my fiancee, I had to move back to Florida. But someday,,soon, I will return to my 2nd hometown,,"Spokane WA." Citizens of Spokane to me, are considered family to me, especially the workers of Northwest Protective Services,,I miss you all, very very much.

Agreed. I've never actually ran Bloomsday myself, but I've gone to the majority - if not all - of the parades. It's a beautiful place. It might not have the night life Seattle or other big cities like New York have, yet there is definitely something lovely about Spokane :)

Nice, aside from the close-up of goose poop. The previos commenter was irrationaly harsh. I lived in Spokey-dokey for a few years and found most people very friendly and the city no dirtier than other blue-collar cities. In fact, it is markedly cleaner than the city I live in now, in the midwest, which is half the size of Spokane.

actually the west side of washington is were most of the larger gangs are and all the ecstasy coke and mushrooms get here to spokane from seattle and Bellingham and the other towns that are close to Canada

well, that is a matter of opinion. Personally, I hate the traffic of Seattle. I will admit there are some pretty rude people here, especially in the Liberty Lake and "upper class" areas and there is no doubt that we lack the cultural diversity Seattle has - HOWEVER, I refuse to believe that everyone is mean, let alone it being dirty. It's actually fairly clean compared to other cities.
