I'm from Andhra, and I listened to this song in all 4 languages tamil, hindi , Telugu and finally kannada. Kannada version is the best, in between the band is great.
As a Tamil, I do not know Kannada to appreciate the lyrics, but it really sounds euphonious. Very pleasing. Chitra Iyer's voice is very nice along with legendary SPB.
i have listened to the tamil and hindi versions but this one is also wonderful. what a great composer iLayaraja is...and SPB;s voice is divine and chithra is as good as S.Janaki was in this song.
in my view Kerlaites are most comfortable adapting other langs for good. Not to mention majority of their movie scripts are much better than anything produced in India.
Raja also dubbed this song for Cheeni Kum. Shreya Ghoshal sang this better than any female has sung. SPB is a class beyond compare. great voice, his powerful voice glides through smoothly without any strain. Chitra Iyer is also good singer. I really like her. she has immense potential to better herself..
Now that I am listening to this song for a while, I think this youtube version is much better than the original recording. Although I don't know Kannada that well, Chitra Iyer's voice is best for this song. Can someone tell me who comes up with the humming at 2:44? Is it Ilayaraja or the song writer?
wow - this is coool. I love this kannada song -I already know about tamil song in nooravathu naal - but this one is also very sweet. SPB is great and even chitra iyer has good voice except for that siripu where s.janaki excels. thanks for bringing in this song.
well, i dont agree that this performance is better than the OST.
just listen to janaki, not even the singing part, but just the smile. even SPB sound better there. except for the hero and the heroine, everything is superb about the OST.
This is Ilayaraja's tune. He used it for three languages, Kannada at first, then in tamil for nooravathu nall and for the latest movie, Cheeni Kum for the song "Jane do na".
What a beautiful song! Nobody expresses feelings as spb does. His voice is so great that even with a problematic microphone during a song(when he was invited to our college function), his voice remained unflinched and totally focused. Absolutely great!
Wow Thanks friend, for bringing such a nice song. Had it been in Tamil, it would have been even more enjoyable. I would like to see more songs like, "Oh Nenjame Idhu Un Ragame...", "Vizhigal Medaiyam Imaigal Thiraigalam...", "Paruvame Pudhiya Padu..." I will give a list of such nice vintage songs of 80s.
Thanks Dinkoarun. I've just listened to Tamil version of this song. Ilayaraja used Janaki for both Tamil and this version(I am not sure what language this is), but I think Chitra Iyer's voice is better than Janaki's voice for this song.
The way SPB sings is like a cool breeze in a warm day .. what a singer!

The orchestra is pretty good, they were able to reproduce the music exactly like how it was done 25yrs ago.

Its a difficult song for recital as the original as it has a good hummings, which have nicely reproduced on the stage by both SPB and Ms. Sharma
