  • movie is good but i hate Ryan Gosling because i am not into his movies but i am into this movie but i didn't not like to match of his movies i think the notebook was crap and i hate him and his movies but this one is pretty good blood and gore i think he's good on this movie so in my opinion

  • I know it really doesn't need to be said that Albert Brooks was completely snubbed, but I'm going to say it anyways. Boo on that.

  • the pink cursive writing i think makes the movie have a retro 70's- 80's look. this movie was fantastic. opening scene was great.

  • @TheMooshiMooshies

    GTA Vice City ;)

  • If you live in Los Angeles and don't play this song while driving around at night, there is something wrong with you.

  • Anyone else think that font of the credits is fucking ugly

  • @MilouJs Nope, just you. They made it like that on purpose, same with the music. It's all about the retro feel

  • Did I miss the cool part?

  • its look like a gta intro

  • I want a scorpion jacket, but I don't think I'd look as cool.

  • one person is a fuckin moron and should go to hell. This opening credits scene is epic

  • @Loyalty1269 Theres always one dickhead who likes to be the first at everything. In this case disliker no# 1 has identified himself as the first loser. Everybody clap for the "toughguy"

  • A MODERN DAY CLASSIC. LIKE ALL CLASSICS IT WILL TAKE TIME FOR WORD TO GET ABOUT, BUT WITH WORD OF MOUTH IT WILL. BLOWN AWAY. WHAT A EPIC. FILM AND SOUNDTRACK AS ONE. ENJOY I DID.

  • this song plays perfectly throughout the movie. i fuckin love this movie and ryan gosling is fuckin phenomenal as always

  • @Loyalty1269 I agree! :-)

  • The font of the credits reminds me of Vice City.

  • Lol such a dope opening scene, simple, and great retro soundtrack

  • DRIVE IS FUCKING CLASSIC!!!!!

  • The best movie sountrack I've seen in long time!

  • thumbs up if you skipped the fuck out of fred

  • Oops! There goes my pants.

  • One of the things I love about this movie is the careful editing that flows with the soundtrack.

  • 2:07 Goosebumps.

  • i love the camera effect at 1:03

  • HNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNG best movie for a long long time

  • For those who didn't know, Carey Mulligan was also in the Doctor who episode "Blink"

So next time you watch Drive don't Blink when you see her!

  • Kavinski Nightcall is the song for those of you wondering.

  • Total 80s feel at the start of the movie :) badass

  • Comment removed

  • am i the only one think this film took place in GTA city

  • "Hands down the best 80's movie of 2011!" ?!? How about The Best Fucking Movie of 2011!

  • the whole movie i thought i'm back in the 80's, and that's what i love about this movie :)

  • orgasm to my ears

  • The name ?

  • @CoDPricep

    Nightcall - Kavinsky

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!

    n_n

  • These 2:44 minutes are the first out of ten billion reasons why this movie is amazing

  • This seems to be an early version of the opening credits. The movie has a different color grading and the credit for music is different from the final version.

  • @Eugen2 Exactly. The music is not high-pitched here, and Angelo Badalamenti is only a placeholder name (as Cliff Martinez explained it to the L.A. Times)

  • BAFTAs all the way!

  • I want that jacket.

  • @Werpwerp16205 no one can pull it off except ryan gosling

  • @Werpwerp16205

Dude... I fucking know! I understand your pain, man.

  • @councilrep27 The Same for all the fans !

  • I listen to this song in the car and try to act cool like this haha all I need is a bad ass car and a scorpion like jacket!.. Oh yeah and act chill like ryan gosling

  • love the way the music stops when he turns off the light

  • This was the moment I knew I would love this movie.

  • dont tell anyone...i like to drive around at night and listen to this song and pretend im ryan gosling

  • @jewelfewel Dude, me too! I won't tell if you won't tell.

  • @jewelfewel I beat my town in half an hour :(

  • Comment removed

  • @jewelfewel: I like to listen to this song when driving as well. And sitting down reading. And eating. And in the shower. And...well, this song makes doing anything even more awesome!

  • @jewelfewel awesome. i would to if my car was hella fast

  • Song is Nightcall by Kavinsky and Lovefoxxx

  • I thought the song "Drive" by the cars should have been used in this once.

  • @NewWaveFan1 It was used by one of the Transformers movies, would have been too soon

  • its like an opening to a TV show...awesome movie!!!

  • Oh wait yes my apologies...I was reading the nominations for the Awards Tour not the Oscars...aww man now I'm sad again lol :/

  • @Sotnas uhm look on rotten tomatoes, they gave all of the nominations that daniel radcliff announced and its up for best picture...check if u dnt believe me but its there.

  • Drive wasn't snubbed from the oscars idk why everyone is saying tht...its up for best picture and best editing...thts good so idk wat everyones talking about...

  • @TheTainaShow It is not up for best picture at the Oscars. Look up the nominees if you don't believe me.

  • @TheTainaShow Uh... no? Drive was only nominated for sound editing

  • Reminds me of vice city!

  • The beginning is much like "Driver".

But the original "driver" is much much better...more chases..mory stylish...cooler dialogs, better story. But still a good film. Something different.

  • @GPatsos Your forgot to add, "IMO."

  • @iClassiqaL i didnt forget it, just think it for yourself

  • I loved this movie. I just read that The book Drive has a sequel comming out. Heres the synopsis

"Six years later -- Phoenix. Out of nowhere someone wants Driver dead. Who? Why? Big mistake..."

I only hope to god that Gosling agrees to a sequel.

  • WHY DOESN'T THE MOVIE CONTINUE WHEN THE VIDEO ENDS? :(

  • Oh and btw i'm obsessed with this movie. :)

  • @TheTainaShow Me too...

  • How was this set in the 80's with those new cars like the chrysler 3000 and the mustang he was in during a chase? Someone explainn is it actually set in the 80's or does it just remind people of tht time

  • @TheTainaShow It's not set in the 80's. Albert Brooks' character even says something like: "I use to make movies in the 80's. Critics said they were very European; I thought they were shit."

  • the pink words remind me of GTA Vice City...whick must have inspired the director.

  • @fredisaking Lol dude there is genre called neo noir which this film heavily portrays plus those neon signs were very common in the 80s. GTA didnt invent it do some research before posting some random shit lol.

  • @fredericg54 This clip is taken from the Workprint (Screener) version of DRIVE. Hence, Angelo is credited as the music director instead of Martinez.

  • 2:06 I like how when he turns the light off it goes perfect with the music

  • There's something inside you...

    Epic.

  • I don't know if we're supposed to pick up on that mistake, but "music by Angelo Badalamenti" ? More like Cliff Martinez...

  • Wow that white Micheal Jackson thriller jacket is so cool and intimidating. And Gosh! That sweet yellow scorpion on the back just brings it up to "Scary as fuck" level on the bad ass meter. Talk about a really cool jacket. If only people wore jackets like this in real life, no one would ever mess with them!

  • Oscar du meilleur montage sonore Drive Millenium : Les Hommes qui n'aimaient pas les femmes Hugo Cabret Transformers 3 Cheval de guerre

Woo, super, catégorie meilleur montage sonore... et voilà.

  • Anyone else notice that it says Music by Angelo Badalamenti instead of Cliff Martinez? Last I checked this isn't a David Lynch movie.

  • @RICH020669 I caught it as well ! I'm also going to check other posts of the credits.

  • @RICH020669 It must be this clip. This clip is correct. Why is that? (URL infor after youtube dot com/): watch?v=LtC64YfY61A

  • first 10 minutes of this film is epic. shame it's all downhill from there

  • @striker161 Go watch Transformers.

  • @iClassiqaL why?

  • Hands down the best 80's movie of 2011! :)

  • He's wearing a glove then not wearing a glove.

  • Was a great movie with a great cast and soundtrack fuck the Oscars

  • Of course this gem couldn't be nominated for Best Picture at the Oscars...they had to make room for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close"!

  • loved those aerial shots

  • How many people are driving around LA at night blasting this song now do ya think?

  • if they were to make a movie of my life i want it to start like this

  • @th3absurdhero me too :-)

  • Oscar must be a real asshole.

  • GTA 5

  • Once the opening came up and the song started playing, I was sold on this movie. I love 80s-style music. I also must mention Ryan Gosling. I'll be honest, the only film of his I had seen before Drive was Remember the Titans (which he was very good in, though it was a minor role), so I have some brushing up to do. However, his screen presence in this film is electrifying, just as much as the likes of Humphrey Bogart or Clint Eastwood. Great film!

  • Oscars, you REEEEEALLY fucked up

  • Ein verdammt deepes Ding...

  • who's this oscar guy everybody hates??

  • @EvoDTA Oscar wilde... but not really because the people representing are an emabrassment

  • It's like the arthouse version of "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City". Awesome!

  • fuck the oscars. not fair that drive didn't get nomiated

  • He should have been a Nascar driver during the day...not a stunt boy...

  • The sequel will win an oscar...

  • This movie was too 80's for the Oscars. They are too busy kissing up to George Clooney and Brad Pitt.

  • @44excalibur Um...both Clooney and Pitt were really good in their respective films. I do not think Ides of March should have got a screenplay nomination, but I cannot fault Clooney of Pitt for Drive's snubs. I blame whoever marketed Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close and whoever decided the technical nominations for editing and sound for limiting a lot of its potential. The Academy is definitely not retro biased (look at the Best Picture nominees)

  • @jjzgamer I said the Academy was 80's biased. Sure they like retro, as long as it's from 50 years back or more. Most of the Best Picture nominees reflect that. And Tom Hanks' movie only got in because it was 9/11-themed. Pitt and Clooney are overrated; Pitt's range is so limited that he's only good when he doesn't have to stretch, and it took him 20 years in Hollywood to finally learn how to act. Clooney is a TV actor who got really lucky that Hollywood liked him so much. The Academy sucks.

  • I totally have a man-crush on Ryan Gosling thanks to this movie...this guy is great, he could do any role

  • Oscars are a bunch commercial shit who only cares about how much money a movie makes, it doesn't appreciate art like this movie, damn, one of the best movies of all times in my oppinion

  • I can already tell I'm gonna love the shit of this movie

  • wow academy, no noms for nick, gosling, brooks, cinematography or even soundtrack?

  • Can't help but head bang. lollll

  • I wonder who's that 1 disliker ?

  • violent ass movie, but fuck idgaf this movie's awesome!

  • There hasn't been a movie this "cool" since American Psycho!

  • lame

  • photography reminds me taxi driver, dark and long scenes.

  • 2:06

  • The reason it didn't get nominated at the Oscars is because all the voters are stuffy old people, their taste is way to conservative. That's why masterpieces like Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas didn't win best picture.

  • This reminds me of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City.

  • @KevinAnimeGenius omfg same thing as me dude...when I saw this scene I was like wow being a kid again playin vice city fuckin awesome

  • WHY OSCARS WHY?! Y U NO NOMINATE ALBERT BROOKS FOR BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR OR NOMINATE FOR BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY? WHY?! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??!!!

  • @TheSawfan101 The Oscars are OVER!

  • reminds me of vice city and driver.

  • @dasgewinde I definitely thought of the vice city setting during this opening scene...

  • @BLXCK91 yes, even the font used is like in GTA.

  • This video gives me the heebee geebees.

  • I keep waiting for the credits to say "Rockstar Games Presents..."

  • @matthewcoy45 whenever someone got stabbed I would do R2, R2, L1, R1, Left, Down, Right, Up, Left, Down, Right, Up. Never worked.

  • I fucking love 2:05 when he turns the light off.

  • I need a toothpick!

  • Jonah hill gets nominated but not Ryan Groslin LMAO lives a bitch guys and girls

  • The oscars are all about "The good story".. This movie has way too much gore and violence to be appreciated byt the academy awards. It's the best movie of 2011 imo, by far. But it doesn't fit in at the oscars.

  • Oh please....A bad movie.....you wanna see a real film? Go see Thief or To live and die in LA or La Samourai

  • @rishi851 - The director (Nicolas Winding Refn) said those were all relative influences on "Drive". I really want to see "La Samourai".

  • @rishi851 Okay cause you can make a better movie than this right?

  • Beautiful and incredible shots of LA

  • When the Dark Knight didn't get a nomination for best picture it was a travesty. When Drive didn't get one, the Oscars entirely lost their credibility.

  • The fact that this film got snubbed for the Oscars on so many levels really makes me paranoid that it was simply because the main antagonists were Jewish gangsters. I know it sounds crazy and anti semitic but I mean cmon. Not even Albert Brooks was nominated.

So if someone makes a film about a cruel Italian mob family it gets a ton of Oscars like the Godfather. But if someone makes a film with a Jewish antagonist it gets nothing? Looks like stereotypes will always exist.

  • @maskedarcstrike We all know that the Jews run the Oscars and the media. If a movie ever portrays a Jew in an unkind light, it might as well not exist to them.

  • @maskedarcstrike That's ironic, because Robert Evans(who ran Paramount Pictures and produced 'The Godfather') once said that the reason most Italian gangster films in the 60's were unsuccessful is because they were made by mostly Jewish filmakers and actors, not Italians. And I agree, Albert Brooks not getting an oscar nomination was ridiculous, as well as Ryan Gosling, screenwriter Hossein Amini, and director Nicolas Winding Refn, not to mention the movie itself getting snubbed.

  • @maskedarcstrike The Jews run Hollywood and that's undeniable but it's not some conspiracy by the Jews. If anything there could have been some bias against the film for that reason but that's kinds expected, it's human nature to favor your own kind.

  • @maskedarcstrike theres a million italian gangster movies, they aren't all oscar winners. I also hope you weren't implying The Godfather doesn't deserve its acclaim and award. Wasn't Once Upon a Time in America about jewish gangsters? It got a lot of acclaim and award nominations. It didn't get an oscar nomination, but thats because the edited version that was shown in America was shitty and the actual version the director intended was shown elsewhere.

  • @maskedarcstrike

lol, i dont think Drive got snubbed for the oscars because of the jewish gangsters...they say only one time in the movie that they're jewish, no one cares about that.

And btw Drive is not a bad movie but the Godfather is waaay better.

  • @maskedarcstrike I loved this movie as much as you, I just think it's too art house for oscar taste.... I can't even believe this film is a Hollywood production .... 'Drive' is a breakthrough genre for next generation hollywood

  • GTA

  • Ive officially given up on the Oscars after seeing all the snubs Drive received. THIS WAS THE BEST FILM OF 2011

  • fuck you Oscars

  • @TheChrisNong Spoken like Bernie Rose himself.

  • Kavinsky - Nightcall !

  • Woah! I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this film but HOLY SHIT!

  • I'll never forget seeing this movie. Can't wait to buy the DVD.

  • i love the 80s twist too

  • Sick, sick, siiiick film!

If you haven't seen it, then you need to get your act together!

  • Ryan Gosling wasn't nominated for best actor. Fuck the academy.

  • it's a real fucking shame this didn't get a nomination. Fuck the oscars...this is going to be a cult hit on DVD

  • @TB492 fuck dvd dude its gonna be a cult hit on dem blu rays...

  • @TB492 like fight club lol, ahh what a good movie :p

  • @TB492 It's just more reason why I don't pay the Academy and their self-congratulatory Oscars show much attention. The Oscars are whatever the Academy wants them to be. The Academy is a small number of people, and collectively, they have a business agenda, one ruled by internal politics. I still don't understand why people let the Academy so heavily influence what they watch. If someone's not part of the Academy, then I don't think they should really care about the Oscars.

  • @TB492 amen brother

  • @TB492 oh god you couldn't be more right. It just didn't get nominated because it doesn't have a some grander social meaning, but in terms of execution I haven't seen a better action movie in years. A true homage to the 80's right here people!

  • "music by angelo badalamenti"? didn't cliff martinez compose the original music?

  • @boredtrophyhusband this is from the leaked screener copy made before details were finalised
