  • nice video,

    profainity >.>

  • This is just the best how-to video I've seen. I had so much fun watching it! Thank you by the way. Also if you wanted a better insulating foam I found another video that used "Great Stuff" Foam insulating sealant and instructed on how to fill the form with it. Just in case you wanted to make another for a friend or whatever. ^^

  • @ciciladybug3 Thanks!

  • I'll refer you to this previous comment reply:

If you try the insulating foam, that will stick to the stand and newspaper/form. Other than that, I think mine is pretty much held up by the duct tape around the neck and bottom holes that attach it to the stand.

  • How do attach the dress form to the stand? Thanks for the great video!

  • Can you show how you made the stand...I'm so glad I searched this topic on Youtube.

  • @TheGpmdesigns It's just a 2"x2" piece of wood screwed into a 2" thick, 10"x10" piece of wood. Drill two holes in the base, screw into pole.

  • Best how to do a dress form video I have seen- I'm going to make mine later today :D

  • @vintagegarbage okay thank u so much! And I'm only doing one layer of tape and one layer of paper mâché and I hope that keeps it sturdy enough. But thanks again for the help and great video btw! :D

  • @vintagegarbage thanks! And how long did it take you to tape up your whole body?? Because I have a about 2 hours a day to do this at school

  • @bornthisway171 You should be able to do the actual taping in two hours, if you have your shirt/dress ready (ie. if you have to extend the shirt with fabric like we did, do that in advance).

Learn from our mistakes; regarding my arms going numb! LOL Do the body (both layers) first, and then do the arms and neck last, for the sake of your model. Those are the areas which she'll want to have covered the least amount of time.

  • Hi I'm doing this for an art project..how much duct tape would I probably need?? My model Is a size 0 so she's very small

  • @bornthisway171 You will probably need at least two regular sized rolls, if you're going to do two layers (which you should).

Good luck with your art project! :)

  • Awesome! I am psyched to try this. Any tips on getting the dress form to stay in place on the stand?

  • @loismustdie1984 If you try the insulating foam, that will stick to the stand and newspaper/form. Other than that, I think mine is pretty much held up by the duct tape around the neck and bottom holes that attach it to the stand.

  • Amazing tutorial, it looks so great at the end!

  • I read on a website that you could use a foam raglan shoulder pad if the bust needs support, and fill the dress form with fiberfill, which is intended for toys or pillows. But newspaper is definitely cheaper :P

  • maybe you should've sealed up the holes, just leaving one part open, before using the insulation foam.

  • Thanks for the video. Now to make one.

  • u kinda look like taylor swift in complete black :D

  • Did you make that dress at the end??

  • Comment removed

  • lol nice, im def usin dis way

  • that's HHOOOOOTTTTTT!!

  • i did this to my friend today, and i didn't stop squishing her boobs X3

  • Can you make duct tape dresses on your duct tape form???

  • Thanks so much for this! I've been thinking of getting a dress form, but it's a bit pricey getting a srs bznz professionally made dress form. I'm glad I found this tutorial, and I really enjoyed watching you two have fun. :)

  • I made one of these using the insulation foam only. It works really well if your stand doesn't go all the way through the neck, that way you can cover all of the holes besides the bottom, so it doesn't fall out. Once it is full of foam, let it set for a bit and then put the form onto the stand. The foam will harden around the stand (I used a PVC pipe and an old computer chair base) and then you're done! I hope this helped a bit, as I tried newspaper and polyfill but it wasn't very sturdy.

  • so its basically ur home made manican c:?? (w/e way u spell it lol)

  • @XRockerxChickx93X LOL its spelled with a q.. but good try i would have spelled it like that hahahaha

  • @ReesesDelux45 Oh mybad. I'm really not the greatest speller in the world. But your tutorial is VERY well done :D. I shall keep this video in my favorites so I can make mannequin and not have to buy one lol

  • Great Tutorial! Never seen this done before...its very creative! Wasn't sure how the foam thing was going go but you worked it out in the end. Thanks for your hard work.

  • Great tutorial, thanks!

Could you tell me about how many rolls of tape you went through?

  • @ssquared16 Oh.... At least one big roll of the grey duct tape and almost 3 rolls of the white Duck tape.

  • Things that may you say, "hmmmm".
