  • try dumping cotton balls into this mixture and the ants will take it to the nest!!!

  • Hi Greg,

    Thanks for the tip,

I have tried this and it worked.

    Love & regards to all.

    S. Banerjee

    Calcutta, India.

  • Hope this works thanks for the tip!

  • Informative video and the recipe would work for common ants. For more aggressive ones like carpenter ants, it will not work because they are not sugar eaters, Carpenter ants are protein eaters and usually not into baits. I am finding that out the hard way.

  • If you have children or pets, use a coffee cans. 1 large, 1 small. Punture small holes half way up, and all the way around each can. Put solution in small can, place lid on, put small can in lg can, place lid and tape. The reason for 2 cans, is it helps keep solution in if can is tipped over.

  • No ants were hurt in the making of this..... Oh right

  • 3 ants survived.

  • HE'S GREG THE GARDEN-AHHH!

    :))

  • Every time he puts the sugar in, he hits the cup, nothing wrong with it, he just does it.

  • fuck this guy is creepy! 0-o

  • i use this product to lube up my anal beads. works great, havent had one single ant sting my butthole :)

  • It's like watching duke nukem

  • 2:40 lol that what she said.

  • It works!! It didn't take more than 15 minutes for the ants to be drawn near the solution. Thanks so much!

  • ants moving inside usually means big wet on the way

  • Great video and tips. Might I suggest a funnel when pouring the borax mix from the cup to the spray bottle, which will keep you from losing the extra liquid.

  • The ratio of borax is too high... it should only be around 5-10%. You don't want them to die right there on the spot before they make it back to their nest...you goal should be to kill the queen. If you don't kill the queen, you won't be rid of the colony. She can replace those workers just as fast as you kill them.

  • 2:43 that's what she said

  • @saffcat101 That guy is a HE!

  • @MegaPrincess1998 you know what i mean...

  • @saffcat101 >>

  • wawtah!!

  • you can also out the mixture into cotton balls and leave them around. They'll just take pieces of the cotton balls to their nest

  • here's a mixture i use.it's easy.....here's wha u need:

1 tablespoon any sweet falvor jelly

    1 teaspoon boric acid

    1/4 teaspoon honey

1 rablespoon wet cheap cat food

mix it up and roll it up into small balls small enough so the ants can carry them.leave them around the place they look for food...once they bring them to the queen, she happily eats the treat.and within hours, she dies of heartburn.it is a reeeally good mixture.don't let this to children or pets or it will make them very sick.

  • Good idea mate! I just made one with jelly mixed with borax this morning. We'll see how it works. I found the idea on the Internet and after much trying I got desperate. I have a long bean plant and it was super infested with the ants. I only hope I added enough Borax (my mixture was 10 teaspoons of Jelly and 1 teaspoon of Borax)

  • it looks like tea XD

  • "The ant will eat it up and.....DIE" That was hilarious how you said it

  • Thanks for the vid!

  • it doesn't cause gas or anything like that, it just clogs their insides to the extent of starvation.

  • Hi does this work on Carpenter Ants too???? I have a lot of Carpenter Ants outside of my house.

  • @stelle007 yup, it would work for them, all ants are attracted to sweets.

  • I have a question. I see the ants really like to eat the mixture but did it work? Are the ants all dead?

  • @LooksOrange it's best if you give them a liquid and solid solutions, basically one with the water and one without, this way you get the ants, the larvae and the queen, since the queen and ants eat liquids, the larvae eat solids.

  • We have bad ant problems here in Texas as well. Well not exclusive to Texas but in Texas nonetheless. How long does one spraying of the solution last for or how long should I wait to spray again? I like finding the beds and pouring boiling hot water over them but I can see where that might be a problem if you can't find the beds or you have a nice lawn you want to keep.

  • My method would be to pour hot water over them and they die instantly but will def try using your method..onya greg :)

  • Much better than using toxic chemicals, but I'd rather find a way to just repel them without having to kill them...

  • brow sugar...honey...you got some fancy ants.

  • will it work for an organic farmer....will it kill locusts?

  • Black ants are the natural enemy of termites (white ants) they are friends and should be honored for their service to society.

Unless they are a real nuisance they are beneficial to your house not being eaten up with termites.

  • Greg...I have these funny looking bugs(I think there aphids) on a pepper plant with ants crawling around them.I blasted them with a hose, but they came back. What should I do about them?

  • @Thereminator101 try spraying white oil on them

  • @gregthegardener what is white oil?

  • BAM! And the ant's are gone.

  • those are some big god damn ants

  • you can also use borax and hot chocolate mix, in powder form and it sticks to their legs and they carry it back to the nest.

  • Excellent tip! Is this mixture harmful to pets or humans?

  • @TheLionsDenNews not really, only if consumed i a quantity, you should hide the mix away from pets and birds so they cant get at it.

  • now that was cool and i will do it :D

  • @01silky1 remember to keep spraying the trails over several days. let me know if it works :)

  • ok cool

  • nice one man

  • Hey mate, does it have to be borax? or do some others work?

  • @Ethan144 for this Borax ant recipe, yes, it has to be Borax

  • @gregthegardener

Ah righto mate, i gave her a shot with another household disinfectant and she didn't work. cheers

  • coolest GTG yet

  • Great tip Greg :)

  • Ooooh borax is good for pink-eye too and especially delicious in coffee!

  • :O Oh my gosh! Gee, people, the live in Australia is fun, but those frickin' ants are just a pain in the ass! :O Thaks God you have all of this tricks to get rid of them ...

  • Thanks !

  • for beer caps get a drink first.

  • I don't think that I've ever seen that many ants.

  • @PerennialPeace they are everywhere!

  • Dead ant, dead ant, dead ant

We've got huge ant hills. One luck it's a rental and the ants stay outside.

  • Maybe this will help with Nicko's ant problem! :D

  • Great video! But how can I kill cane toads

  • @TradieTrev with a hammer

  • G'Day Greg, Good tip mate, I mix powdered borax with Pal Dogfood and put it in a yellow bucket, for the european wasps, they fly away with chunks back to the nest.

Jobs Done! I have not seen one euro wasp up here this year mate! maybe it's the humidity or all the dragon flies we have had thats doin' them in.

Oh! a lid on the bucket is a must, then drill holes around the bucket, about 11/2" Dia, so the birdies don't get a dose! cheers!

  • i heard it is good to detox floruide out of your body is this true?

  • Yummeh! Nice one Greg

  • I tell you also, I do have a big problem with slugs since all the rain in Victoria. I go out at night with a torch but they are very elusive. They are disgusting and I hate them more than anything and I'm fed up seeing filthy slimy trails all over my porch each morning, so if you have any tips for getting rid of those slimey slugs that would be great! Love your vids Greg... thanks.

  • Would it harm other more beneficial insects also? I wouldn't want my capterpillars or ladybugs to explode too know what I mean? Thanks

  • @TruthSeekingElf you only spray it where the ants are, ive never seen any other insects go for it, too many ants

  • @gregthegardener Ok cool thanks. Don't have many ants, a few but not enough yet for mass killings with borax but ant stuff is expensive so this is really fantastic to know. Hopefully your next gardening insect vid will be on those disgusting slimey gooey slugs... ;o)

  • Great tip mate.... now I don't have to gas myself with the usual insect spray anymore. Does it work on annoying bosses though?

  • Will borax work on Jehovah Witnesses?

  • @Mithr0s LOL!

  • That's a really great tip. You won't believe what I do with the ants I have at my place! lol. I tend to leave them a little something near their nest .. so they leave everything else alone! :D

  • @karmagirl74 arent you Gregs root?

  • i dont need borax, i know witchcraft. :)

  • you are a weapon of mass destruction! :D

  • you should get tradie trev to try this on his kane toads, see if they would explode too :P

  • great tip

  • haha exploding ants

  • It takes two cups of your Borax tea to get me up every morning! I didn't know it got rid of ants?

  • thanks Greg.... That will be much easier than buying traps......

  • Cheers for the tip.

  • We have a lot of ant in trees, coming in the house occasionally and they might be eating our small garden seedlings :( We used mosquito repellent (spray for your skin) in the house. Worked great! :)Thanks Greg, great tip!

  • Over here in the UK we have a cheap product called Raid, kills the ants but also kills the nest, great stuff Greg H&R Bro

  • like does this work everytime or do the ants eventually wise up to it and stay away from the borax?

can some of the wiser, older ants start teaching the young ones about the hazard and teach them to stay away from a young age?

I heard that them ants can actually be pretty darn smart and not just strong.

  • make a video of the AFTER!

  • my mom just pours water on them D: doesn't really work haha thanks for sharing!

  • Well I haven't seen the movie, but I haven't heard of Borat killing ants before! That guy's amazing!

  • @wordreet "In my country there is problem, and that problem is the ants"

  • @sgthunter09 OK,but in America, your mother's sister is your ant. Please don't spray your anty with borax!!!

  • Its really weird seeing you be serious in videos.

  • @MysteriousMayonaise I sense a humourous/sarcastic underlying tone too haha...I can't help it from watching stripyhead videos...

  • ^-^ LOVEE THAT SONG AT THE START GREG THE GARDENAHHHHHH:) :)!!!! <3

great tip YAY BORAX! :)...nice coffee cup

  • Can you get borax in the UK? Is it under some other name too?

  • @rosscummings6 it will be in your laundry section in the supermarket, it can be tricky to find, so ask for some assistance.

  • @gregthegardener I have that happy Cup :)

  • Mmmm BORAX, Delicious.

  • How I hate ants, just hate them. I tried the borax thing a while back with maple syrup mixed in. It didn't seem to work for me but I don' think I had enough Borax mixed in.

  • I had heard of this, but never seen it in action. Very cool!

In my old place, I put down baby powder. It seemed to keep them out, but maybe it was coincidence that they went away. Pest remedies are tricky with cats in the house.

  • in the UK two old bints called Kim and Aggie use it for cleaning. Using it to kill sounds like more fun
