It's interesting that two suburban citizens, bored and tired of their monotonous lives, run around the country doing small robbery gigs, only to finally realize their purpose in life is to rob banks. Hence, "we rob banks," as in, we know what we're doing now.
This movie sucked. The members of the barrow gang who lived to see this movie hated it. they didn't even rob that many banks. they mostly held up grocery stores and gas stations. they held up a few small banks and thats it. the amount they stole was chump change compared to what john dillinger stole. dillinger even said that bonnie and clyde give armed robbery a bad name. they got what they diserved. i think a guy like clyde barrow is too homicidal to romanize.
"In 1968, Hamer's widow and son sued the movie producers for defamation of character over his portrayal and were awarded an out of court settlement in 1971" .."In 1992, Bonnie and Clyde was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant." Well, 2 out of 3 isn't bad. But they did state "Or". Sorry I sourced Wikipedia.
Natalie Wood made the worst mistake of her career by turning down the role of Bonnie. Faye Dunaway is definitely hot here, but Wood would have been just as hot if not more.
@captainkill1 ,,,,one of the most believeable gangster movies, do'nt make me laugh it is crap, Blanch running about screaming what is that about, Clyde ca'nt get a stiffie on. Same cars being used in different scenes, Hollywood at it's worst, absolute rubbish.
@markrjg: No no no. For its time period believeable. When I think of Bonnie and Clyde I think there are a lot of dreams there going threw there heads. When there sleeping for instance. The girl that wants to make it into the world. A lot of gangsters focus on the men. I like this. The way thery combine every day life of sex, coca cola, wants and dislikes with crime is remarkable. It was also a time stealing was easy cuase towns were honest. Very entertaining.

Great scene from a cinema classic. Beatty and Dunaway make a superb pairing.
