@mpadgett928 Great videos. How did you like the golite jam? Do you think the jam could have sufficed in the colder weather if you had a down bag? Would you recommend the LaFuma bag?
@airbus001 thanks! I really liked my jam. The load definitely carries differently than internal frame packs and that takes a little getting used to, but as long as I kept my pack weight light (under 25 lbs), I was very happy with it. I would have definitely carried it the whole way if I had a down bag to start.
I loved my lafuma, too. For the summer, I would recommend the cheapest, most comfortable 40 degree down bag you can find. You'll sweat and stink and probably use it past its life.
I finished my thru-hike, summitting Katahdin on 8/30, and will be uploading videos from the rest of my hike. Look for a post-hike gear video, highlighting any changes I made during my journey. @ClimbingChrispy I started out at around 35 lbs, and quickly shed the weight, getting down to the 20-25 lb range.
chamblee ga baseball? i played at norcross and im thruhiking the AT june 1st '12. represent. any changes you would have made to your gear knowing what you know now?
I started out with an air mattress made by InsulMat... it worked well until it recently started leaking through the valve. I bought a Thermarest NeoAir in Hanover, NH a couple days ago and I love it. I definitely recommend it.
not trying to be mean but keep the video focused on the gear.
