AMAZING MOVIE!!! Although, one thing that's a tiny bit wierd is that Brad Pitt was, get this, 40 when they made this movie! 40! He doesn't look 40 at all!!! Except, that actually makes it a little creepy because the girl who played Briseis was like 23 when they made the movie, so that's a little weird, but not really. FABULOUS acting on Brad Pitt and Eric Bana's parts. Great movie!

Brad is all wrong for this part. He looks like a Ken doll. And Diane Kruger as Helen? Whatever. Helen of Troy is supposed to have been the most beautiful woman who ever existed. Now, don't get me wrong, Diane is attractive, but not worthy of playing the hottest woman alive. And whatever happened to Orlando Bloom? You never even see him in anything anymore.

This movie isn't SUPPOSED to be historically accurate. There was the factual city of Troy, and then the myths and legends told about it and its history, primarily coming from Homer's Iliad, a fictional poem. This movie is based off of the latter.

Generally, completely historically accurate stories don't make for good epic blockbuster films, so enjoy the movie for its entertainment and thematic value, not its educational worth.

@TheC yes it is a real story..and its about a war between the greeks and Troy(troy was also a greek City).It was the biggest invasion (greeks had 100.000 to 300.000 and thousands of ships).All the trojans were killed and very few greeks remained (15.000-17.000 i imagine)In addition almost all the greek Leaders died during or after the war.But the movie is not so accurate (menelaus was a handsome respected leader,Hector DID know that was killing patroclus etc)This war was a disaster..ah women :)

What history books leave out is Helen was confronted by a Djinn before the war ever took place. And he offered her anything she wished for. And she wished every man she would meet would fall in love with her. And Bloom fell in love with her and it led to the downfall of troy. You wont find that in any history book I can guarantee it.

And there is argument and claims that say the Iliad is just a story and then there is argument and claims saying that it speaks off true events, that's the whole reason why the Iliad is spoken in such high regards, people wonder did it happen or not.

The events are pretty much the same, just the timeline was shortened, the gods and some of the filler was cut out, Agamemnon and Menelaus were turned into villains so audiences were more sympathetic to Helen's running away, and the fates of some characters were changed so that the "bad guys" got their dues in the end.

Really, this movie was just like any book to movie adaptation. The Illiad was just a story, not real history.

BUT, you cannot blame some people for believing that Menelaus should have taken Helen back and Paris should've been killed. These are the pillars of the story. I don't know if you like Tolkien, but what would have been your opinion if someone made a film based on the LotR and showed Frodo dying and Sauron victorious? Think about it!

One of the worst movies ever made. All the stars seem thrown into the roles together simply because of their celebrity hotness. Orlando Bloom and Diane Kruger are about the only people that actually semi-fit.

The story is historically inaccurate and the plotline is horrendous. The story switches back and forth between major characters on a whim. The lines are cheesy. All women are used as sex objects and nothing more.

Everything about this film spells out an intended epic gone bad.
