how ironic to depict a cruel, sick and agressive newliberal, such as Thatcher was, as a person with a human side. No she had no human side. She imposed policies who led literary milions of people (and not only the british) into poverty. It was she who was supporting military dictatorships in Latin America only to fulfil the corporations' interests, and people there still suffer from these "dark ages". Normally she should be brought into a trial for crimes against humanity and not being idolized.
@Misterpopkiller she built up the British economy to what it was in the 90s, weren't the 90s and early 2000s great??! everyone had money, and that was because of her, yes her policies were harsh but it was what was required to drag the nation up again, and of course she had a human side, she just didn't mix her professional political life with her personal life, if she a woman had shown any emotion, she wouldn't have been taken seriously by the rest of the country she was THE IRON LADY!
@Misterpopkiller i was definitely too easy on you in my last comment... SAVE YOUR FUCKING ASS HOLE OPINIONS FOR YOUR OWN MESSED UP COUNTRY YOU BASTARD!
@EJES2000 I always enjoy being attacked from scared petit-bourgeois people who like sucking the ass of upper classes the same time they fuck them endlessly. Behaving like spoiled children AND coming from second rate country will only get you patronizing responses and/or ignored. Now stop your hysterical childish hyperbole, and remain silent until you are spoken to, you greeks need to know your place
@mollkatless who are YOU classifying countries as first or second rate? Well i see the legacy of economical fascists still is alive in some uneducated petit-bourgeois people. Being educated and with a social consiousness means that you see all people equal and you are in a position to understand that politics like Thatcher eg. force to these classifications. I am pretty sure that even in your "first rank" country there are second rate citizens eg. Tesco workers which are being exploited
@mollkatless for a small salary which can help them only to survive while the Golden boys of City are making billions of pounds. It was your politics in our area which drag my people into a civil war (after the II WW) and devasted my country and made it a second rank country according to your briliant and humanitarian way of thinking. Tell me you were educated to think in this way when? During Thatcher's era? You petit-bourgeois need to know your place in the society. But you will never
@mollkatless PS. Your comment was totally irrelevant. @Misterpopkiller you are emotional and very irrational, most communists are, or at least you have been since the communist political system was thrown into the garbage bin of history.
The point, in case you missed it is politics, and your political belief system has failed. greece is nothing but a bunch of children who need their european daddy to come in and bail them out, since as children, you have no concept of how to not spend more than you have, daddy needs to save you
@mollkatless look my friend. i will not get involved anymore in a discussion which is very wide and with many aspects and parameters. Your point of view is, as it concerns Greece, way too simplistic (15-18 years old/ speaking about daddies!) and it just reflects the opinion which has been formed through the mass media not only in Britain (if u r British) but across Europe and even inside Greece. Its just amazing (and i am really astonished by this observation) how people inside Greece
@mollkatless share the same opinion with you!can you imagine that, exactly the same opinion! Does this ring a bell to u?People with average way of thinking, who cant perceive the deeper structural problems of the EZ (yes my friend its also an Irish, Portug.,Spanish, Italian and even British-yeah you are also in very deep shit-) just put the blame in stupid generalizations mostly based on stereotypes (eg. the Greeks who r lazy, the spanish who r like this and blah blah). The rest of it is a distraction for greeks, white noise hysteria. Remove yourself from the european teet, everyone will be better off - really, trust me, it is not complex, maybe hard, but not complex

well, you mixed the art with the politic... even about Hitler and Stalin can made a charming movie, and at least Meryl won her well-deserved Oscar, what she was waiting for 30 years... nobody understand, its a movie to made for Meryl Streep????
I cant get over, how effing amazing her performance is. Anyone saying she didnt deserve and award is crazy.. click on any thatcher link to the right, and try and tell the difference between meryl and thacther. u cant
Well, Winston Churchill will always be the best prime minister. But, yeah, the second would be Margaret Thatcher...
just imagine if the labour union-funded government was able to push the EU agenda and replace the Pound with that petty Euro currency, the country would be in the same sick situation as ireland, france, greece, portugal, spain, italy, belgium, netherlands and austria.thank god we did not use the euro!
I am a son of a Falkland native and we have to thank Margaret Thatcher for defending us from argentinian invaders. We are British and NOT argentinians. We are the Falklands NOT las malvinas.
Thank god ! Thank god ! Thank god ! Meryl streep won her 3rd oscar which she should have won long back. Nevertheless, she finally won an am so happy for her. Though she faced a very tough competition from Viola Davis for ''The Help'', the Academy chose Meryl for ''The Iron lady''. Her performance was full of sincerity, depth, passion she just made the film watchable just because of her performance.
Thumbs up if u all think Meryl streep absolutely deserved the 3rd Oscar.
The performance of Meryl Streep was, once again, impecable, and she deserves the Oscar tonight. The movie, however, doesn't do justice to Margaret Thatcher. I don't want to discuss if she was a good or a bad person, but undeniably she was an important figure from the 80's. She was the first woman to become leader of a great country and the world's attention was on her leadership back then. Despite this, the movie does not depict this, nor vital internal issues, like her actions against IRA.
peopil hate this woman well thos wish washe peoppil but they say hate is round but yet they hate magret thats just tow faced hating her is hate so you are just as bad stop hating and learn what she did her police and belive you might actruly lern some and a few truths
Probably one of our best Prime Ministers. Amazing woman, she was brilliant and one of the best things is that unlike other female leaders she wasn't a feminist. Truly she had principle and grace, long may we wait for such another leader.
@PiggleMandV Fascist? no, you just like to throw around that term but don't understand it, fascism requires big government whereas she made government smaller. No sympathy for the poor? so by helping the poor keep the money they earned and actually give them a chance to make money in other ways than being a slave to the system she had no sympathy for the poor? you sir rely on nothing but hearsay and lies, learn some facts and have some respect instead of pretending to fallacies.
@TheConnorian She was like reagan. Reagan ran against the government and made it hard. People think government is bad when it can help. She did show no mercy to the poor for what i have studied about her.
just watched the film: it was a masterpiece! I cried almost during all the film, touched by Lady Thatcher strength and Mrs Streep acting. I've never loved a film so much before
@dieguito65 - It's "They Told Me It Could Not Be Done" by Cato. Release date Feb. 28th according to his website. It was written for the trailer, it is not in the movie.
we admire you Meryl, you are the numer one no matter what charater you do, you are an exellent actress, since Krammer vs Krammer until The Iron Lady, you don't are about the nature of your character, you can do it in an exellent way. You do transmit all the emotions thats you want us to feel
@lasojaesunyuyo As long as the citizens of the "FALKLANDS ISLANDS" want to remain British. Then they shall. The proximity of the islands counts for nothing. The sovereignty of the islands is everything. They are British and will always be British.
@StormyStuff When British conquers came in 1833, did they had in mind the decision of the Argentines to continue being argentines when they arrived? No, no, no. British expelled by force Argentines.
14,000 km away. It is more than clear that it is an illegitimate occupation.
If kelpers want to be British, go to Britain and ready!
@lasojaesunyuyo i'll have you know that in 1833 the time that you say the British "invaded" there were already french and spanish citizens living in the falklands at this time. In fact, the term you give the islands, "malivinas" (which is a spanish name) is derived from the original french name malouines. This is because the first known settlers here were french in 1764. Then the spanish took over in 1767 expelling any british influence. Then by 1833 the british re-established control.
@StormyStuff No te entiendo un pomelo, querido. Que se yo que carajo me decís. Cortala, nene. Basta. Veo que la educación en GBR les lava el cerebro.. mamitaa..
@lasojaesunyuyo I actually have a very good education, i'm currently at university. Ironically it seems you are the uneducated argentinian that turns defensive at the chance of being proved wrong.
"With all do respect sir, I have done battle, every single day of my life, and many men have underestimated me before, and this lot seems bound to do the same, but they will rue the day!"
"I will never be one of those women, who stay silent and pretty on the arm of her husband. Or remote and alone in the kitchen doing the washing up for that matter. One's life must matter, Denis, beyond all the cooking and the cleaning and the children. One's life must mean more than that. I cannot die washing up a teacup." One of the best phrases of the movies.
This movie was one of the best I've ever seen in my whole life. Meryl Streep has showed us again how pretty good actress she is, and the story about Margaret Thatcher is incredible. 10, 10, 10 for this film!!!!
@veronyka83 it's been almost 200 yrs since Arg controlled the Falklands, there is nothing Argentinean abt it. Let it go. It's nothing but a pride issue that ur gov't uses to stir nationalism. Countries have lost territory in war since the beginning of civilization.
M.T. was a remarkable woman. I mean try and look from her perspective she who was a WOMAN fought her way into politics, she has the guts and courage. And I respect her . As for the F. Islands she fought for HER country. I think she was a great PM, she may had some flaws, but then again what politician is perfect?
M.G. boosted the economic Britain has today :) . And watch the movie it`s amazing well done M.S. :D
I will dance on this cunts grave,90% of Brits hate her.
The global mess we're all in now is a direct result of her and Reagans policies, when them two pillocks were in power.
Only in America could a fucking cowboy actor be elected most powerful man on earth, and only in the UK could such a shallow, uneducated cunt be educated to PM.
amen my friend, amen, your best pm in my opinion was clem attlee, who was a socialist.he nationalised the mines and factories after wwII and kept very man and woman in a job, something this cunt of a woman wouldnt know jack shit about.ohh yeah ,we'll let every brit buy shares in british telecom, and then when the '87 stock market crash occurred they lost the lot, and as for that poll tax.....cunt needed a bullet for that.
Britain are now paying for this woman's policies........neck deep in debt. Just like Ronald Reagan she helped create short term profits in the 80's, by sacrificing manufacturing and mining jobs, and allowing the City Of London to create economic bubbles which have now bust. This generation will have to pay for the last generations borrowing.
@6969dazzagazza Margaret Thatcher may have been a hard, but she did a tremendous amount to make Britain a competitive and modern country again. She broke the backs of the trade unions, which was very necessary. If you could only see how they bring France to its knees, you would understand why we cannot compete with the UK or the rest of the world and why no one invests here anymore.
@negvar You seem to be confusing lifestyle quality with wealth. Margaret Thatcher helped a small percentage of the country to get rich, whilst burdening the rest with debt. The quality of lifestyle that the French enjoy is far better than most of Britain. This is because the only way for a country to have long term prosperity is to produce goods, through strong manufacturing and agriculture (take alook at Industrial Revolution British, or USA, or now China). Thatcher destroyed manufacturing.
@FadeToBlack888 I'm a New Zealander and enjoy a better lifestyle due to our efficient agricultural sector. The 2008 Financial Crisis was barely felt here, as we do not have a government who has handed over its powers to the City Of London and Brussels. Thatcher ensure short term prosperity and sacrificed long prosperity. Britain has little sell to the world, with a subsidised agricultural sector, poor manufacturing sector, depleted North Sea Oil, corrupt financial sector, and huge debt.
@mpmast Industrial Revolution Britain created the means for Britain to be a superpower. The USA and Japan were at their most prosperous when domestic manufacturing was strong. Tell people in China and Germany that a strong domestic manufacturing sector does not make you prosperous.
The only way that Britain can dig its way out of debt are higher taxes and austerity. This generation will have a poorer living standard because they must pay through taxes, the debts of the last 30 years.
@negvar youre right she saved our country, made us ALL richer at the expense of 1 million extra unemployed, people who got employed again soon anyway! france is in a bad state at the moment, i find it hard to understand why so many french people like the European Union, us English hate it...
@6969dazzagazza You forget the fact Britain was being run into the ground by the unions. You forget the piles of rubbish piling up uncollected on the street corners, you forget the dozens and dozens of union led strikes, you forget the huge debt Britian ran up under the labour government, you forget the 3 day working week because Britain was broke. Yes you seem to forget a lot. All of that was brought to an end under Thatcher. No one gets voted back in 3 times if their doing that bad a job !
My friend, the difference between Blair and Thatcher was that Blair inherited a very stable economy unemployment was low, the country was doing well. All he had to do was keep it going. Thatcher inherited a country torn to pieces. What makes a great General is not his deeds in peace but in time of war !
@MrMaxTruth With all due respect, the public opinion of her wasn't exactly friendly by 1982 and it was the sheer luck that Argentinians gave her an easy win at the Falklands that saw her re-elected the following year.
@MrMaxTruth Media, pretty much every tabloid newspaper supported the Conservatives. And papers like the Sun released articles like "why i'm backing Kinnock, by Stalin" or words to that affect.
I've been dying to find that song in the internet, but even with your comment, I can't find it! I've even looked at the MusicByCato website. Where can I get it?
fuckers! that you are! that War was stupid! Í lost many brothers in that fucking War and I can´t stand watch all this hollywood shit and mock us. Is outrageous and can not even go to the Islands to mourn our loved ones. The claim is historically and geographically legal. No discussion about it. From Argentina
Muchos hermanos hemos perdido en esa puta guerra. Ni siquiera podemos ir a llorar a nuestros seres queridos a la Isla. El reclamo es historico y geograficamente legal.
Thank you very much :) I tried very hard on it! I'm glad you enjoyed it! I need to watch the movie on daving.info again actually, hehe... a truley remarkable song, with a sadish meaning. reminds me of somebody...

Thank god ! Thank god !

@TheConnorian Even though she helped gain women a leading role. She was a facist. No smypathy for the poor
PiggleMandV 5 days ago
@PiggleMandV Fascist? no, you just like to throw around that term but don't understand it, fascism requires big government whereas she made government smaller. No sympathy for the poor? so by helping the poor keep the money they earned and actually give them a chance to make money in other ways than being a slave to the system she had no sympathy for the poor? you sir rely on nothing but hearsay and lies, learn some facts and have some respect instead of pretending to fallacies.
TheConnorian 5 days ago
@TheConnorian She was like reagan. Reagan ran against the government and made it hard. People think government is bad when it can help. She did show no mercy to the poor for what i have studied about her.

@StormyStuff When British conquers came in 1833, did they had in mind the decision of the Argentines to continue being argentines when they arrived? No, no, no. British expelled by force Argentines.
14,000 km away. It is more than clear that it is an illegitimate occupation.
If kelpers want to be British, go to Britain and ready!
lasojaesunyuyo 3 weeks ago
@lasojaesunyuyo i'll have you know that in 1833 the time that you say the British "invaded" there were already french and spanish citizens living in the falklands at this time. In fact, the term you give the islands, "malivinas" (which is a spanish name) is derived from the original french name malouines. This is because the first known settlers here were french in 1764. Then the spanish took over in 1767 expelling any british influence. Then by 1833 the british re-established control.

If you could only see how they bring France to its knees, you would understand why we cannot compete with the UK or the rest of the world and why no one invests here anymore.
negvar 1 month ago
@negvar You seem to be confusing lifestyle quality with wealth. Margaret Thatcher helped a small percentage of the country to get rich, whilst burdening the rest with debt. The quality of lifestyle that the French enjoy is far better than most of Britain. This is because the only way for a country to have long term prosperity is to produce goods, through strong manufacturing and agriculture (take alook at Industrial Revolution British, or USA, or now China). Thatcher destroyed manufacturing.
6969dazzagazza 1 month ago
@6969dazzagazza you talk complete shite get an education you fucking dole scrounging northerner
FadeToBlack888 4 weeks ago
@FadeToBlack888 I'm a New Zealander and enjoy a better lifestyle due to our efficient agricultural sector. The 2008 Financial Crisis was barely felt here, as we do not have a government who has handed over its powers to the City Of London and Brussels. Thatcher ensure short term prosperity and sacrificed long prosperity. Britain has little sell to the world, with a subsidised agricultural sector, poor manufacturing sector, depleted North Sea Oil, corrupt financial sector, and huge debt.
6969dazzagazza 4 weeks ago
@6969dazzagazza
You don't need domestic manufacturing industries to be prosperous. That is an age old fallacy.
mpmast 4 weeks ago
@mpmast Industrial Revolution Britain created the means for Britain to be a superpower. The USA and Japan were at their most prosperous when domestic manufacturing was strong. Tell people in China and Germany that a strong domestic manufacturing sector does not make you prosperous.
The only way that Britain can dig its way out of debt are higher taxes and austerity. This generation will have a poorer living standard because they must pay through taxes, the debts of the last 30 years.
6969dazzagazza 4 weeks ago
@negvar youre right she saved our country, made us ALL richer at the expense of 1 million extra unemployed, people who got employed again soon anyway! france is in a bad state at the moment, i find it hard to understand why so many french people like the European Union, us English hate it...
FadeToBlack888 4 weeks ago
