The heavy is that what would be called "tank". He can take a lot of damage because he needs to distract the enemy team from his own and breakthrough enemy lines, therefore the "silent killer thing" is absolutely useless.
I found (i never buy stuff) this weapon today and it su*ks. Every other heavy with a Minigun will whup your "backside".
AND:
5$ for this weapon is overprized. A minigun is for free and as good as / better than this weapon.
With only silent killer, this weapon will be TOTALLY. POINTLESS.
I mean - it happens too rarely that you ambush someone "enough" to kill him if you dont have a faster spinup time. And with such a drawback as slower firing speed, this weapon will be useless 99.9% of the time.
Valve's way:
Nerf the good weapons (Tomislav, Sandvich), leave the OP weapons alone (Backburner, Enforcer)
You people don't seem to get why a minigun isn't supposed to get faster spin up time. The original minigun forces the heavy to anticipate battle and be aware of his surroundings. This weapon removes then need to do that since the spin up is almost instant. In other words, it's takes the heavy out of his original role and makes him too easy, which is what unlocks shouldn't do. Stop using crutch weapons and use the vanilla mingun. I can only agree with vanilla removing the faster spin up time.
Thank god this is getting nerfed. It'll be as useless as Natscha, which means noob heavy's will actually have to use Sasha/Iron Curtain, which takes more skill and planning than this.
A recent TF2 Beta update got rid of the faster spin-up speed, meaning the only plus side to the Tomislav is the silent spin-up.
Yeah, and the heavy still screaming "NUUUUUU WEEEAAAPOOONN!!!!" every time you use it doesn't exactly make that worth while. Just lower the firing speed a little more if you want to nerf it, Valve, like by an additional 10% or something.
In the Beta they decided to remove the Tomislav's faster spin up time...and also remove the less health drawback. Really? Oh c'mon on the best thing about the Tomislav was the silent faster spin up time. So now the only good thing about this weapon in the beta now is the silent spin up time?
Valve please don't listen to the people who claim this weapon is overpowered. Just because this weapon has a faster spin up time doesn't make it overpowered.
wan't the heavies main weakness besides being generally slow the fact that he has to wait about a second before he can attack? then the tomislav comes and says "actually fuck that"
@SandmanD3 Nah if Valve will imply this into real TF2,no shit Tomislav will be worth nothing, silent spin is somewhat cool but this will eventually lose practically to all miniguns
@vichogonzalez15 I know. I was crushed the first time I threw my sandvich on the ground, hoping for a quick heal, and having absolutely nothing happen. Now they're making the most unique primary weapon for the heavy a piece of shit...
@gunhaver1000 It looks like Valve doesn't care about the community's opinion. we are telling them to make sandvich the same as before and they didn't do anything.
Heavy has the highest HP pool and damage output in the game, is a prime candidate for a Medic to heal (effectively giving him 450 health). Being able to essentially regain 150 of his health at will was just ridiculous.
@MrDeePay Heavy is weak and terrible because he is so slow, while his damage output is high it's easy to run from and rockets/stickies a sniper headshot or a backstab which are easy to do on any heavy. The sandvich drop heal was never OP since heavy is usually instakilled anyway, if anything needs a nerf it's demo or scout followed by solly because of their high damage output and with a medic can constantly rocketjump for speed and have more hp as a demo.
@MrDeePay No, but heavy's are slow they can't keep up to any class literally every single class can escape a heavy unless at close range with their minigun already spun up, they also can't do anything about snipers at long range except hide and are easily stabbed by spies because of their slow speed and the fact that they can't hear much when firing their minigun and have to look in the direction they're shooting. Also most of the people I play with have 500+ hours.
Amount of time played =/= overall skill level. Some players can get really good really fast and some just suck all the time. Play against actual better Heavy players.
This gun also removed a core weakness of the class (being loud and prone to ambushes) at a negligible cost.
@MrDeePay Heavy is limited highly for many reasons, a good heavy needs to stick with his team or get the jump on other players to do anything against actually good players. I have played with a few good heavy players which did well but, I think they could've done alot better as spy or scout.
@SandmanD3 Lol at useless. That thing made the heavy immune to ambushing. Without the faster spin up it will now be good for taking people by surprise but won't be the broken mess it currently is.
If you don't know how silent spin up is very valuable (hoping for the sound glitch fix in the future), you're beyond any help.
@SandmanD3 Tomislav with less spin-up time is OP, as it is now it kills faster than Sasha in short-range. In the same amount of time as Sasha on mid-range. And slower than Sasha at long-range (who would ever try to kill on lon-range as Heavy?)
In addition, the Tomislav has silent spin making it an excellent ambush weapon. This is on top of it being great with the decreased spin-up time.
On top of that, Tomislav has icnreased chance to win 1v1 against everything.
BUT, situations where you ambush people for "long enough" to kill them without faster spinup happen too rarely for Heavy to make Tomislav any useful in its new form...
Thus, it will be utterly pointless and weak, because only silent spinup doesnt make enough difference, considering its firing speed...
@DarkDXZ It's firing speed penalty make no difference when you use it in close areas. If you ambush as you are supposed to with this weapon, enemies will average react after 0.5 seconds, giving you 90% to win if they don't get away. The firing speed only takes effect when you go head on head with other players which isn't the point with this weapon.
@DatHarry i am not f2p but i use it but i do rarely play as heavy because its so slow i dont even notice the downside but the faster spin up time is usefull
@SoldierNo257 i prefer the brass beast, its good for defending points and things but i will admit it does suck on payload offence, you can't keep up with the cart because of reduced movement speed
The default minigun is still the best minigun by a large margin.
The Tomislav is good in 1on1 situations against scouts and other light classes, but it makes you vulnerable when fighting other heavies, soldiers and demomen.
The Brass Beast takes ages to spin up and reduces your mobility too much. A stationary heavy is an easy target.
@KageKiller245 I just expressed my opinion. You see, when you regularly go to Crit servers, and you attempt to be the only person who actually bloody scopes, you'll find out that a trigger-happy Critical Tomislav-using Heavy is about 3 steps from you and eager to imitate Swiss cheese on your face.
It really ticks me off how most Heavies equip this, since it's not that great of a weapon in my opinion. Seeing how most Heavies rarely do ambushing and would rather shoot anything in sight, the point of this weapon is pretty much ruined. And plus, the sound of the player rolling down the gun is still hearable, so if someone was really listening carefully they could find them.
First, the silent part, isn't the main focus of this weapon. People like it because it has fast spin-up. Contrary to popular belief, I find the slower firing speed defect useful because it conserves ammo, where in some maps ammo can be scarce/stolen by teammates.
@Najzeko I was implying this weapon was used for ambushing, and the fast spin-up makes use to that. And interesting observation right there, I never thought having a slower firing speed would have such a use. But honestly, I use my ammo as Heavy wisely so I never run out of ammo, or at least that easily.
I'm also more of a Tomislav guys like other people here, it's perfect for ambushing and the "spin-up" (because nothing actually spins lol) is almost twice as fast, so if you're the ambushed you may counter-attack quickly.
The slower fire of rate doesn't mean much since it still deals massive damage, unless you're being attacked by another Heavy (if he has a Brass Beast you're pretty much dead).
I don't really see why so many people say this gun is so overpowered. It lets you start firing about a half second faster, sure, but after that half second is up you are statistically worse than a heavy using any of the other guns.
Hmm. Funny little bit of trivia, the reason why mini-guns have 6 or so barrels and spin is because if it was just one barrel ( the Tomislav here) the shaft would overheat and melt.
@TheEmeraldTroll Well, it does shoot slower. It might not make any difference though. Thanks for the trivia though, and why am I trying to figure out something in a game...
i kill more people with this than the orginal minigun it's perfect the way it is. it's not garbage no it's more accurate with the slower firing speed atleast it "feels" more accurate
@undrtakr900 they killed him at the same time showing that the slower spin up time vs faster break about even, how ever the faster spin up team is better for dealing with demo knights
@oiramldx If you jump and spin up with the default minigun it's really no different to the tomislav. If 2 heavys faceoff together, unless at point blank with both guns unspun, the minigun will always win. Only noobs use the tomislav, theyre easy kills when I play heavy.
I don't think the faster spin up time is worth the -20% firing speed, a good Heavy spins his gun up BEFORE he gets to open fields or aroung corners, -20% may not be much but it makes you weaker than all other heavies and that's not worth it.
people, the spin up change is in order of game balance.Fuck everyone who thinks the Tomislav is now crappy.Because they are noobs and want the overpowered spin up again.
Instead of slower firing speed, they should just make it shoot one or two less pellets per shot. Would it make a difference? Maybe, maybe not, I wouldn't know since I don't balance weapons. But either way, this is the best Mini in game.
@Andthatswhymacssuck -20% slower firing speed? That's garbage? Jesus fucking christ man, it still puts down most enemies in a second or two of direct fire. Same as Sasha and the other Minis. Get over yourself.
And it wasn't OP before the nerf. It was perfectly fine. People just complained a lot, and made it out like it created am imbalance (hint: it didn't), so it was nerfed from fine to... oh yeah, still fine.
Hah, one bastard tried to pull off an overprice off me. Something like 2 rec + weapons. Just after I cancelled the trade and died I got Tomislav as a drop.
This weapon decreases max health by 50 so you only have 375 health on over heal so this weapon pretty much sucks against other heavies. At least not as many heavy noobs will use the weapon and return to the good ol sasha
Me: Alright with this silent weapon spin-up I can ambush teams no problem! Heavy: I HAVE NEW WEAPON!!!!! (opposing team hears this) Me: FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU
The joke comes from Yakov Smirnoff, a comic from the Soviet Union (when it still existed). He is most well known for his "Russian Reversal" jokes, comparing life in the United States to life in the Soviet Union. For example, "In America, you can always find a party. In Soviet Russia, the Party can always find you!"
My take on the joke is that the Heavy's Tomislav is silent until he starts firing, allowing him to do some ambushing for a change (Continued on next comment)
(Continued from last comment) allowing him (the Heacy) do some ambushing for a change, as opposed to people always ambushing the Heavy. And also because the Heavy happens to be Russian. I thought it was funny.
Original Uber update Tomislav: Debatable concerning whether or not it was overpowered
Tomislav demonstrated in this video: Balanced weapon, a side-grade as all weapons should be.
Proposed Tomislav: Absolute garbage. Only has Silent spin-up?
VALVe, stop being stupid with TF2.

oiramldx 4 months ago 47
@oiramldx I liked it when it was OP as fuck with 80% faster spinup, it's also glitched where it keeps making the firing sound also.
They halved the buff to 40%, why not halve the downside to 10%?

@Alimentasable Public castration is a good idea.
oiramldx 1 month ago
@oiramldx If you jump and spin up with the default minigun it's really no different to the tomislav. If 2 heavys faceoff together, unless at point blank with both guns unspun, the minigun will always win. Only noobs use the tomislav, theyre easy kills when I play heavy.
KennyMatthewsMonster 1 month ago
@oiramldx It was nerfed by furries that thought it's overpowered because "the spin up is too fast" but it wasn't.
Slicezorr 1 month ago
@oiramldx wtf?!
isorSOT 1 month ago
I don't think the faster spin up time is worth the -20% firing speed, a good Heavy spins his gun up BEFORE he gets to open fields or aroung corners, -20% may not be much but it makes you weaker than all other heavies and that's not worth it.
TheBritishPlatypus 4 months ago 3
@TheBritishPlatypus except when dealing with demo knight and tricky pyros, I'll take that faster spin up time.

The Tomislav is silent when it is spinning up. The Heavy is not.
thewakkydude 4 months ago
people, the spin up change is in order of game balance.Fuck everyone who thinks the Tomislav is now crappy.Because they are noobs and want the overpowered spin up again.
luizmw2 4 months ago
@luizmw2 Here's an idea: If the noobs don't like it, then they should just stick to the other miniguns and deal with it.

fullmetalmc 4 months ago
Instead of slower firing speed, they should just make it shoot one or two less pellets per shot. Would it make a difference? Maybe, maybe not, I wouldn't know since I don't balance weapons. But either way, this is the best Mini in game.

Tomi Medic goes down a split second after the Sasha Medic. I'm sticking with the Tomi.

luizmw2 3 months ago
It WAS OP before the nerf, I'll admit that
But now it's fucking useless
The solution: make the walk speed while "spun up" higher, it will by no means be OP but it won't be the useless piece of garbage it is now
Andthatswhymacssuck 4 months ago
@Andthatswhymacssuck -20% slower firing speed? That's garbage? Jesus fucking christ man, it still puts down most enemies in a second or two of direct fire. Same as Sasha and the other Minis. Get over yourself.
And it wasn't OP before the nerf. It was perfectly fine. People just complained a lot, and made it out like it created am imbalance (hint: it didn't), so it was nerfed from fine to... oh yeah, still fine.

tomislav to minigun:
minigun: .8 sec spin up, 10 bullets per second, spin up sound
tomislav: .5 sec spin up, 9 bullets per second, no spin up sound :/
yohiunknown 5 months ago
This weapon decreases max health by 50 so you only have 375 health on over heal so this weapon pretty much sucks against other heavies. At least not as many heavy noobs will use the weapon and return to the good ol sasha
wubbinus 5 months ago
@wubbinus That's only in the beta. Although I'd love to see that implemented to get everyone off this gun.

@prototypeS88 Only in beta.
This means that mixing it with the Warrior's Spirit would give the Heavy a total of 230 max health. Almost to Soldier's level.

@prototypeS88 Valve only does max health penalties to melee weapons.

In Soviet Russia, Tomislav Heavy ambushes YOU!
useraccount333 5 months ago 69
@useraccount333 I don't get it.
MiracleFassad 5 months ago
@MiracleFassad
My take on the joke is that the Heavy's Tomislav is silent until he starts firing, allowing him to do some ambushing for a change (Continued on next comment)
useraccount333 5 months ago
@useraccount333 Well I knew what the Soviet joke was, yeah. I didn't really know how you were using it though
MiracleFassad 5 months ago
@MiracleFassad
(Continued from last comment) allowing him (the Heacy) do some ambushing for a change, as opposed to people always ambushing the Heavy. And also because the Heavy happens to be Russian. I thought it was funny.

@useraccount333 Thanks for taking time out of your day to explain your joke.
