Can't wait to see them July 7th! As for those who have the extremely rude comments, too bad! They still love to perform and there are those of us who will pay to see them - too bad you don't like it. Just don't go see them. I've been a YES fan since my first concert in '73, and the last time I saw them in '09 they did great - this coming from a musician who knows something about music!
Due to people's comments here, now I fully understand the Yes and Jon situation. Well, it's a tough situation for the public to understand. Often band members don't get a long, sometimes this is sad, because they knew each other as kids. Yes will be here in Seattle in three weeks, and I don't know whether or not to attend. I sure hope Jon and Yes can work something out someday. It should not be all about money.

In answer to your question, the reason why some people on this thread (like nignog87) are very "angry" is simply because they lack intelligence. But of course that's obvious, isn't it?
Regarding Jon's ouster from Yes ( the band that he founded), the issue is this: some Yes fans are upset because they think that manner in which Howe and Squire betrayed their colleague of 40-plus years (and then lied through their teeth about it ) is DESPICABLE and absolutely DISGUSTING!
Seems that you are a very big Yes fan, and more of and Anderson fan. Me too.

After all there are TWO Asia's right now, the steve asia, and John Paynes.
Jon Anderson appreciates money as much as the next man.
However, contrary to your dopey notion that "HE CAN MAKE MORE MONEY Touring SOLO, than Touring with Yes," the reason why Jon has in fact been saying NO to YES is because he rejects Howe and Squire's pathetic notion that Yes should exist merely to make money.
Clitdoris, (Yes Hater) Yes is not making alot of Money Touring. They ARE NOT Rich, and never WILL be Rich. However, they do need to make a Living. Jon, and his huge Ego, have been holding Yes back since 2005, and they decided this would NO LONGER be the case, and went on without him, and rightfully so, ONE PERSON SHOULD NOT DICTATE AN ENTIRE BANDS FUTURE, REGARDLESS OF WHO HE IS.

nignog87...
The fact that you refer to me as "Yes Hater" reveals that you suffer from either very poor reading comprehension, or from mental retardation, or very possibly from both!
However, the fact that you write that "Yes is not making alot of Money Touring" merely makes my point (posted below) that Howe and Squire have been selling their musical and personal legacy for a few dollars.
On the other hand, your comments regarding Jon Anderson make it obvious that you are simply a MORON!
Fuck You, ya Stupid Cunt. You make NO SENSE. If thats what you get from my comment, you surly need help. Everyone reading these comments can see you are bashing the current Line-up, because you Love " I Left Yes" Jon Anderson. Get over it. Steve and Chris can do what ever they want with Yes, Jon QUIT. He KNOWS he can make MORE Money Singing Yes, SOLO. Been doing it for 5 Years now. Get a Brain you RETARDED FUCK. Do yourself, and the World a Favor, and KILL YOURSELF, U waste of space, piece ofShit
The fact that you have to resort to using mindless, angry expressions like "piece ofShit" to communicate your anger with my comments, clearly indicates you are not just a MORON but a PATHETIC, IGNORANT IMBECILE who has his head buried very, very deeply up his arse.
I love YES, and I just saw them with VIP pass in Dallas. I must say, Howe and Squire were the most unfriendly artists I've yet met. They're lucky anyone is still listening to them since the freaking Cambrian is over. I love their stuff, but they were totally cold with the guys at autograph signing.

4eyed4stringer...
The unfriendly experience that you had with Howe and Squire merely reflects one very critical fact about them: namely, that whilst they've been blabbing-off to the media about how they supposedly returned to touring because they care so much about their "fans", the truth is that the only reason why they are touring is because all they care about is MONEY!
But don't take it from me. Just look at how they've sold their musical and personal legacy for a few dollars.
You of course are right. Not saying that Anderson is not also to blame for this ridiculous farce - like Plant for not wanting to tour with Zep, - now would Zep fans accept a Plant sound-alike ? Doubt it.
Jon said NO to Yes 2005-2008, and was the ONLY Member holding back a Tour during this Time. He FINALLY said he would Tour, then had his accident. Since Yes Toured WITHOUT HIM, He NO LONGER wants to be a part of Yes. How soon we forget.

nignog87....
"Jon said NO to Yes 2005-2008"?
Well, indeed he did. But, actually, from as far back as 1979, Jon was already saying NO to Howe and Squire's notion of Yes. That is because, rather than continuing to endlessly milk the old, very successful concept of the band (as Howe and Squire prefer to do), Jon has been strongly suggesting that Yes should reinvent themselves. However. as Jon has recently said about Howe and Squire, they disagree with Jon because "They just want to make money"!
There's more to the Jon story: 1) Anderson sold off his share in Yes LLC in 2004, and in at least 1 interview said he left the band. 2) Howe Squire Wakeman White wanted to make a studio album in 2005 - Anderson said NO. 3) Anderson demanded he get more money than HSW for the 2008 reunion tour. 4) Anderson has been touring Yessongs solo since the 80s. OH, and after Squire's heart attack, Anderson planned to do the Talk tour with Billy Sherwood on bass...dumping the ailing Squire.
@kirklott - that's some good Yes info I hadn't heard before - thanks. I've always rooted for Jon back with the band, but now I can understand why Chris is sour on him.
@kirklott I wish I could get to the bottom of this fued-where have you found your information; I sincerely would like to know more about this as a freind of mine feels Jon is 'the' victim'
@ticklishampersand - mostly from Henry Potts' site, but also from Yesfans site. Search 'henry potts yes.' And this isn't the first time - note that HSW kicked Jon out of Yes after the ill-fated '79 Paris sessions because he was taking more than his share of money, and HSW were tried of 'Circus of Heaven' type songs. Then Wakeman left. HSW were polite enough to say that Jon left, but the fact is he was booted. Brian Lane confirmed.
So it primarily came down to business? Wasn't that why they broke up in 79 (besides exhaustion and needing a break from one another)?
I never heard of the Squire/Sherwood story - where'd you hear abou that? Bands can be brutal, like the combination of a marriage, artistic venture and business venture. That's a helluva juggling act when you think about it.
I wonder why Jon sold his share in Yes - that's really odd. And why would he say no to making a record? Oh well.......
Well, rather than a cape, the circumstances strongly suggest that Oliver should be wearing a bag over his head to hide the shame of playing alongside a couple of scumbags like Howe and Squire.

Oh dear, sorry, but to try and carry on without Jon is a sad way to end this once truly great band. Benoit, the anderson impersonator makes this cringingly embarrasing. Shame they could not end the band properly - with Rick and Jon on board. Ego's terribly sadly have prevented this from happening,

One might say that it is an aberration that Steve Howe and Chris Squire decided to replace Jon Anderson (who is the founder, architect, and very-soul of YES) with an airy-faeiry karaoke singer.
One might also say that they betrayed Anderson by replacing him whilst he was convalescing from a serious illness.
However, given the fact that their decision was motivated by nothing more than greed, one can only say that they are nothing but a pair of duplicitous, money-grubbing, DESPICABLE CUNTS
Thanks for posting this interview and footage. I am a HUGE fan of Yes and nearly all they do. I do feel a little sad to see it all slow down as it has. Seems to me that Steve is having trouble keeping up, plus the vocals aren't there any longer for anyone in the band. Still, I love their music. Today, I listened to CTTE a few times. It's still perfect, 38 years later. Good luck, Yes. And thank you!

Continued....
Jon speaking to a Czech interviewer in late 2009, regarding Squire and Howe:
"They just want to make money, which mainly means touring a lot these days; and by all means go out and tour, but don't call it Yes, because that is definitely NOT Yes on tour. I will just say that I wish they had behaved in a more gentlemanly fashion."
Here's what Jon said to a Czech interviewer in late 2009, regarding Squire and Howe:
"They play with a different singer now; he looks and sounds like me when I was 25 (laughing). You know (laughing), they are my brothers, but sometimes you have to disagree even with your brothers."
Yes continues, and when he's on completely, Benoit does sing Jon even better than Jon it seems. (My wife actually prefers him to Jon.... would you believe!) I saw their first US show, and now a year later near the beginning of the short tour. They are very solid. Time for a new set and some new material.

Oi, TheRealCopperMoose....
So your wife "actually prefers" Benoit to Jon Anderson, huh?
Well, that partially explains why your wife is an idiot. Of course, the reason that fully explains why your wife is a BIG FUCKING IDIOT is the fact that she married you!
Yes, she does. She saw Yes for the first time with Benoit. Jon sounds airy on comparison on several recordings - Benoit has more solidity to his voice, and was a good showman in comparison to the rest of the ancient band. I find it amusing, but your comments do speak for themselves.

YES needs Jon back...asap. Performing those songs means nothing if the true spirit and force of much of that music is not there. Jon not only brings musicianship, but a beautiful energy that only he can complete with the rest of the band.
Saw Yes 3 times. 1 Big Generator tour, 2 Union tour and 3 Talk tour. Don't know why Jon isn't included now. Thought it was health reasons but he is performing some again. My opinion is Chris & Jon have "differences". Asia is working on a new CD(album) 'Omega', it will be released in April..
Jon and Chris actually almost Hate each other. Started in the late 70s, their wives had a little to do with it., 1988 Trevor said that was the reason he left. More recent Jon has said that they are to old to fight anymore. Maybe not!! The CLOSE TO THE EDGE AND BACK TOUR, Jon was sick. I think Chris and Steve like having the upper hand this time. Alot of Yes men do not like what has happened, Rick and Billy are some. I think Jon and Rick will be back sometime. hope.
As I ahve aged in life (45 now) and watched this band age for 30 years one thing has become evident to me in both cases. Being in ones early to mid 20s is the most wonderful time. Getting old sucks.
I've heard some boots from this tour and the band has acquired over the new members a very interesting sound. With three key musicians and more progressive sound of heavy yes, my expectations of a new album are high. I hope soon to hear a new studio with this line-up.
i saw them on the tour and it was the best show id ever been to, i dont know whether they would do a new album with this line-up maybe with oliver wakeman but not with benoit david, plus asia are allegedly planning a new album so that would sideline steve, we can only hope for a new album though...
I infer your comment in a positive light, think it is great these guys are still goin' at it w an ease and carfree way and makin' it fun. They can't be the Yes of the '70s, cause that was then and this is now. Ease up, enjoy the ride, mate.

ClitDoris 2 years ago

ClitDoris 2 years ago
You of course are right. Not saying that Anderson is not also to blame for this ridiculous farce - like Plant for not wanting to tour with Zep, - now would Zep fans accept a Plant sound-alike ? Doubt it.
Thanks for nothing Howe, Squire & White.

ClitDoris 2 years ago

@kirklott I wish I could get to the bottom of this fued-where have you found your information; I sincerely would like to know more about this as a freind of mine feels Jon is 'the' victim'
ticklishampersand 1 year ago
@ticklishampersand - mostly from Henry Potts' site, but also from Yesfans site. Search 'henry potts yes.' And this isn't the first time - note that HSW kicked Jon out of Yes after the ill-fated '79 Paris sessions because he was taking more than his share of money, and HSW were tried of 'Circus of Heaven' type songs. Then Wakeman left. HSW were polite enough to say that Jon left, but the fact is he was booted. Brian Lane confirmed.
kirklott 1 year ago
@kirklott
Oh well.......
babarishka 1 year ago
pepemalfi1 1 year ago
pelusaesfeo 1 year ago
pepemalfi1 1 year ago

You reckon that "Oliver should wear a cape"?

"So much for loyalty" indeed...

ClitDoris 2 years ago
Yes, she does. She saw Yes for the first time with Benoit. Jon sounds airy on comparison on several recordings - Benoit has more solidity to his voice, and was a good showman in comparison to the rest of the ancient band. I find it amusing, but your comments do speak for themselves.

The fact that you think that Benoit (who prances about like a gay mosquito) is " a good showman," speaks volumes of your vulgar notion showmanship.
On the other hand, your comparison of Jon Anderson's singing to that of Benoit's, speaks to the fact that you are a M-O-R-O-N!

Galacticadude 2 years ago
For Galacticadude,
Jon and Chris actually almost Hate each other.

Love Yes, still.
