man my pc is windows 7 1.6 ghz 1015.4 mb ram intel gma 945 direct x 11.0 and I can play it nice, I can even run medal of honor spearhead on it

Had the same problem. CS was runnin w/o problem, but tday it started to freez just as I connected. All files with MODT set to read only, CS runnin now, try it fellas.

I have vista, and i had cs and it worked fine. Then i reinstalled cs and then i had this problem. I fixed it by going into my cstrike folder, and then find two files called motd.txt and motd_temp. Right click both files, properties, and set them as read-only. You won't be able to see the menu on the above the ok button, but hey, u can join any server!

when u right click the files, u have the option to click "read-only" click it, and it will work. However, there are rarely some servers that don't work, but must of the servers will

find any file with "motd" on it and change the file to read only : right click, properties, read only, apply , ok.

motd.txt, MOTD.res MOTD.res and MOTDPanel.res

note: there are 2 MOTD.res

right click on the Counter-Strike executable ..

Go to --> Properties --> Compatibility tab and put it compatible with Windows XP .. then hit OK ana rerun the game //.. hop ill help :D

this solution worked on SOURCE..

1 .Go to the game root directory :

(...\Steam\SteamApps\youraccna­me\counter strike source\cstrike)

2. Now open the new TXT file - Save As the TXT file and name him textwindow_temp.html (it must to be HTML file)

3. Right-click the file and set the file properties to read-only (put V in box)

2)c lick 'start task manager'

3)go to 'process' tab

4)find the IDMan.exe and click 'End Process' button

hmmm i think i know whats the problem....look at 0:36 your screen flickers so try changeing to other resolutions :) also screen flickers may cause a crash

@Paulex1000ify i use vista and couldnt not find any IEMonitor.exe in task manager. however i do have another program on my computer that used an online download manager. Try checking on your add/remove programs for any download managers on there to uninstall

Have you been able to play before? Has it been crashing since you installed it? If so I'd suggest re-installing CSS and check if your drivers are up-to-date. Drivers are normally the problem. If None of this helps go through the steam forums and look around.
