Amazing video Jawbox!!!!! Thanks so much for puttting it on Youtube!!!! Really takes me back in time....how in the world do have such clean sound and video footage???? However you did it..thanks again!!!
When looking at this, I think of how lucky I was to grow up here in Minneapolis. The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Husker Du, even Prince. On any given night, one of them were playing. and it's easy to see why so many bands here have that sound or style.
I have to say that 80% of the shows I saw, they were messed up bad. But even so, what an experience.
Seeing Bobby grab Paul's mic and fuck it up while using it for a slide is priceless.
No shit, bro. Thinking the same thing. I grew up in Mpls, but was a decade too late for the 'Mats. Saw Soul Asylum play many times, though. Great live band - apparently, one of Dave Letterman's faves, for what that's worth. Speaking of which, who would've thought Norm from Cheers was/is a huge 'Mats fan?
No, thirteen. He was 15 when I saw him June '83, when I was seventeen, it was a very good year, I met the Replacements & we drank some beer, and we had no fear, Reagan was prezident & we thought the end was near, when I was seventeen it was a very good year...
saw them at the Berkeley Square when it existed, they had just released Tim boy it was so loud and great the pontiac brothers opened, then saw them again get booed off the stage opening for tom petty then again the night of the Gulf War starting in S.F.
