3:38 THE MILWAUKEE ROAD DID AN EXCELLENT JOB WITH THEIR SD40-2 #156, THAT IS MY FAVORITE BY FAR OTHER THEN THE SANTA FE SD45-2 AND BURLINGTON NORTHERNS U33C AND SD40-2 UNITS... GREAT VIDEO, GOTTA LOVE THE GOOD OLD DAYS..
Glad to see Seaboard Coast Line's 1776 at 4:40. She was THE FIRST Bicentenniel locomotive, having been commissioned in the early 1970s. Toured all over the U.S which gave SCL some really good PR. The floodlights on the walkway illuminating the hood made her look impressive at night. A tragedy that this U36B was not preserved.
Two things I realizied, the loco at 2:59 doesn't look speical to me, and I have a copy of the "Locomotives 2009" issue of Trains, and an SSW SD45T-2 is in bi-centennial colors that I notice is not in this video.
Oh well, I guess it's not easy to include all bi-centennial locos in the video. Didn't mean to sound agressive or anything, those are just my observations.
@ALCOPRO that would be sweet! of course, that would never happen in today's world unless Union Pacific were to hear the idea. sheesh, it's like they're the only ones who care nowadays
The two Western Pacific 3500 series GP40s are missing #1776 and 1976

1991 was the BN Desert Storm unit. The one at 3:36 doesn't look like a bi-centennial unit.

It just shows how much pride we all have in this country when we carry it on our rails as well. Very good vid.

Quite agree about the GG1! It is, in fact, the GG1 prototype, #4800 in her Conrail days!

The BURLINGTON NORTHERN ones are my favorites. I miss the BURLINGTON NORTHERN railroad, but I do like the BNSF Railway.

hell if it wernt for the bicentennial of 76 we would probily not have that wonderfull steam locomotive SP 4449 first used on the freedom train
gaycowboy31 3 years ago
o i did not know about that unit.

Even though I'm scared to death of trains this is a beautiful sight.

why do u have the red white and blue BN SD60 that was painted like that in the 80s/90s
kalcapone1 3 years ago
That was a BN SDP40, SD60s weren't invented untill almost 2 1/2 years after the N&W and SOU merger in 1982.
NS6641 3 years ago
im talking about 1:49 in the video taht is a sd60
kalcapone1 3 years ago
That's no SD60, it's a SD60M.

kalcapone1 3 years ago
I thought the same thing that SD60 was done for the first gulf war late 80s early 90s not the Bicentennial of 76
