That wasn't a drift, that was a powerslide. Big difference. Also was probably more due to the what appears to be wet pavement. Finally, the Porsche has the best line and will catch the MX-5 within the next three corners.

@BKSeoul do you even know what driving on the nurburgring is even about. yeah the miata wont have the fastest lap time but itll be the funnest car to drive posches are boring you need to be able to have the feeling of satisfaction of making the purchase and with the price of miata right now i picked mine up for 2K USD had 65K miles on it buy the same year porsche for that price with that low mileage it wont happen and the extra money i have from the savings ill dump in the miata

And before you can drift you have to powerslide, you have to crawl before you can walk asshole which brings me back to the point before this one.

Yep I sold my MX5 and bought a WRX and my MX5 was much more fun in retrospect. Don't get me wrong I would love the WRX engine in the MX5. But day to day the MX5 just puts a bigger smile on your face.

i tell you that a stock(and i guess)even a tuned miata doenst stand a chance against a porsche 911 on the ring. look at the 24h, google manthey Porsche. i own a mk2 miata myself, but a porsche is so much in a different league that a comparison is simply ridiculous.its a nice jap roadster, it does have many advantages, but at the end of the day it is...slow. it doesnt even need a porsche to beat the miata on the ring, i can call you probably 100 cars that go faster, dont overestimate miatas

@Berzerkka I agree with you to an extent, but there are so many other factors (especially driver skill) that come into play, and modified MX-5/Miatas can have some pretty serious pace even against Porsches. Take this for example: watch?v=2uAnmJdIvD8 . However, I do agree that they are very different, and the MX-5/Miata isn't for everyone.

@Berzerkka The main reason I was able to pass much much faster cars on the Ring in my MX5 (miata) is that my car cost about $1000, and I can afford to crash it, so I can drive it that little bit harder. As a result all the guys driving the expensive kit there is afraid to bend it, so I get to overtake them even in their porsches. :)

try doing a 4WD conversion then just disable the front wheels. That's what someone did here but they got into a crash cuz it was a civic sedan and it was automatic and he was being stupid.
