@imskilled94 i almost did, i had 68 percent of the known world, had 2 major wars with both cartlage and greeks, 1 minor war with whats left of the barbarian tribes, took over all of north africa, seiged athens, and was about to burn sparta to the ground, my empire raked in 40k on low taxes everyturn, had thousands of the most advance trained men in the game
@imskilled94 tips, just dont get in pointless wars, make self made goals if you MUST get in a war, if you cant get these goals done in less than a decade, dont even bother unless its nesscary, war ALWAYS hurts your economy, reduce having a huge standing army, since it costs a shit ton and there are no returns, need a defense, but only portotional to how big your empire is, and how many enemys/neighbors you have, if you need easy to get land, take over gaul/germatic areas
@xxdomoxxkunxx yeah but those god damn senators scare me. sometimes their demands say ''we will tell your secrets'' or something scary like that so i have to start a war
@anessone becuase i had such amounts of land, i didnt need heavy taxes, i just made it low taxes in my empire that spanned half the game map, and my senetors were getting more happy since their plans just happened to meet mine
@johauHAU simple, town guards to keep them in line, i also didnt destroy any of their churches/alters so thats something, and i kept the land clean of garbage
What I really don't get is why some people look at videos, which the title tells what's in the video, and then dislike it. If they know they're not gonna like it, then they shouldn't visit it. The only reason to dislike a video is if the title is: Awesome Battle, and its a video of a guy going to the store and buying some cheese. In this case, I don't know why anyone dislikes this video.
@3DarkLord Worry not, we shall send our Legions to teach them the err of their barbaric ways. Soon they shall learn to enjoy the comforts of civilised conduct and oh... epic music appreciation :D
Foolish, uncivilised invaders! Hold back these Roman dogs and their lesser culture! For the gods watch over us this day! Make sure to give them a good show!
I remember the battle like yesterday: I was at the one side with my Spartans and my cavalerrie, on the other side my friend as Romans with his legionarys these big onagers, so i placed 7 of my cavalery-troups at the edge of the map and 3 of it together with my Spartans in the middle, so when the battle started, he couldnt see my "second army" at the edge, was not in his range of vision.
So i could easyly ride around him and attack the moving onagers behind his moving army from behind ;)
Ahhh Yes...this soundtrack....reminds me of my Imperial White Legion comprised of Silver Shield Pike-men and Legionaries, flanks covered by Cataphracts, imposing my will upon a pitiful band of Eastern soldiers that Parthia considers an army.....ohh...the sweet smell of terror. :D
I'm currently heading up the development of an in-depth online game (OSRPG Online Simulation RPG), set around Earth in 200BCE. Starting in Rome.
The game will allow players to modify the law, as the senate. People of the Republic will vote in their favourite player in their area to represent them.
Play as a Smith. Trader. Farmer. Hunter. So forth.
I'm not one for spam, but pop me a message if you want the link. T'is some good shit. :)
Reminds me of my best general :P selucid dood that I sent to invade Roma-Cathrage...Started good but then started to get raped...considering I had 1 army and 1 general and a battle eveery turn he lasted 20 years dieing at 36 in 1 last battle with 2 silver shielded pikemen and 5 cataphracts against legions of romans.....By the end of which he was called Lythuis the Great...10 command 10 management and 10 influence

A great song that inspired many Seleucid cataphract cavalry charges against huge legions of Romans on the very hard difficulty of the imperial campaign. It brought me many heroic victories :)
@machine3589 How are we supposed to express our opinions about the video then? Not many of us are willing to use a video response to do that, and the current like vs dislike system is very limited in it's expression. Plus people like me, who mainly use Youtube for the music and the occasion to chat would be quite unhappy.
@ArguriosRS CCCHHHHAAAAARRRRRGGGGGEEEEEE!!! AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH >:D *runs into enemy phalanx formation and gets stabbed and killed* AAAUUUUGGGGHHHHHH......UUGGHH......*bleeds*

lol, i love this music. especially how the flute plays, but wut sucks is how that the sound of metal clanging, men dieing, etc. is always blocking out most of it so u only here the loud parts of the music.
they did use war chants but it was like a bugal in the civil war it was to bark out orders the genral would say something and the drums and stuff wuld play the beat
Did the Romans use war chants and such in formation? I've always assumed not, being professional soldiers and all, but I don't know. Oddly, I think it'd be a lot more unnerving-- especially for a tribal army-- to face an opponent that just stands their silently.
@CatAtomic99 I don't know for sure about the romans but most of the greeks did. EXCEPT the spartans. They would form up silently, sacrifice a goat in front of you, and then silently march towards you.
In this track, I think composer Jeff Van Dyck wonderfully captures the building suspense of the impending clash of two determined armies. Why this guy hasn't been hired to do the sound track for a major motion picture is beyond me.
when you face death....you either run or fight....they were brave so they stood and fought...may EACH AND EVERY SOLDIER WHO EVER FOUGHT OR DIED have his soul rested in peace...
Don't be deceived by that thought - you think they had no fear? No soldier taking part in such a large battlefield or war can be called truly fearless. A word of advice, those who have no fear do not join pointless wars or conflicts. All soldiers know fear, whether they express it is a different story, but saying they were fearless is wrong and ignorant. Soldiers always know fear, and even more so do those safely behind friendly lines commanding soldiers to fight to their death.
@Tharulerme They obviously knew what it was. "Knowing no fear" would be a term to express that they didn't obey it. Nobody will throw their life away just because a commander said so. What what would they gain if they had died? Nothing. And therefore it is by their own will that they fought to the death. They might have been scared by fear, but they didn't obey or listen to it. Weaker moraled troops rioted if they were in serious danger. It is the contempt of the bravest to fight to the death.
@TheAsharedhett Ancient battles were a lot safer than modern battles. For 1 thing, you're only in mortal danger when you're within arms reach of someone else, and the fighting only went on for a few hours at most.
And they would question the need to fight, which is why some armies would fight to the last and others would just flee.
They had javelins, arrows, and siege weapons back then too, sieges could last for MONTHS, and there was no way to treat wounds beside amputation! How is that safer?
@MaulMachine Oh, you mean the thrown weapons that are easily seen and you have a shield to protect you from? Yeah, that's totally more freighting than being on the verge of instant death constantly.
@lanz0r4tehwin Yep. No firearms, no bombs, no missiles, no artillery shells, which all are capable of striking you without giving you much of a chance. It only takes one soldier to coordinate that stuff from the ground.
If realizing the mortal dangers of that happening isn't enough to make someone more of a man, then I don't know what will!

@MaulMachine Oh, you mean the thrown weapons that are easily seen and you have a shield to protect you from? Yeah, that's totally more freighting than being on the verge of instant death constantly.

@lanz0r4tehwin
I know, right? Especially since, when in phalanx formation, you couldn't risk raising your shield.
Besides, I didn't say anything about frightening, I said safer. Way to project! :toot:

@lanz0r4tehwin Yep. No firearms, no bombs, no missiles, no artillery shells, which all are capable of striking you without giving you much of a chance. It only takes one soldier to coordinate that stuff from the ground.
If realizing the mortal dangers of that happening isn't enough to make someone more of a man, then I don't know what will!
