  • Here is advice from a piercer if you people want to call him dumb, he is actually in fact correct along with a couple people who have also stated facts about this. Guns crush the tissue, they are usually only swabbed with alcohol which does not actually clean them, skin & occasionally blood is left behind from previous people pierced with the gun, in many states its illegal to pierce cartilage with a gun, it is disgusting & causes damage! If you people actually read or studied you would know!!

  • I agree piercing guns are BAD news! the ear piercing I got with a gun have given me more trouble then all of the other piercings I have gotten with needles.... I also think that needles don't shock your body as much as a gun...

  • i had my second earlobe piercings with a gun but i won t do it again, next time i ll try a needle because my ear was hurting my for like 20 minutes after i got them and my left ear got a little infection because the earing was to tight , they are fine now but it was anoying :(

  • wow i always heard that the gun is bad but i didnt realise how bad it is! Im going on the weekend to get my 2nd ear piercing (the 1st ones i had done by the gun got infected lol) and I asked at the place where im getting it done if they pierce with needles or with the gun and she said that they dont use needles anymore... WTF now im worried becuase i dont know how to get it done with a needle and no, i dont want to do it myself... so what should i do? should i just go ahead with the gun?

  • i've pierced my cartlige with a gun and a needle once.

and from my experience, they both heal and i didn'T have any problem but

if you compare them the gun hurted more and myear did get red (not swolen)

and the needle didn'T hurt at all. and the hole was much better looking.

so i say go with the needle. it won't hurt anyway

  • Exactly what I've tried to explain to so many Claire's or salon piercing goers.. Hollow needle slides like hot butter.

  • Thank you so much for your dedication to this industry! The examples that you have given here are awesome. I appreciate this video very much :)

  • So wish I would have known this seven years ago. It took three attempts (spread out through a year or two (maybe three)) before my ears finally decided to (mostly) stop screwing up. All three times it was with a gun. One time the person even had it slanted (my right ear still doesn't like to cooperate with me half the time). Next piercing I get will definitely be from a tattoo shop!

  • ive noticed this(or is it just me) that when i had my first ear peirce dont when i was younger, late in the night i accidentally took it out cause i wasen't thinking, and it closed up almost immidiatly, yet i recently used a needle for my 3rd hole in my ear & i took the needle out for like 5 minutes(to find the ring) and it didnt close up at all in that time. is that just a coincidence or...?

  • LOL it doesn't even go through the glove! WHY would you want to put it through your ear!

  • @zdogg30 i went to get my cartilage done at claire's..... big mistake... it was always hurting and i took it out one day and it wouldn't even go in 2 hours later!

  • *The problem is that here in portugal a nose piercing with a gun costs not much than 3 euros (around 5 dollars) but if it piercing with a needle it costs 35 euros (50 dollars) or much. So why pay 50 dollars for a hole made with a needle while you can do it with a gun that costs less than half the price?? But I guess I'll prefer to do it the safer way in the future :) Thanks for your demonstration :)

  • I get your point but I got my nose pierced with a piercing gun and it's healing perfectly. I got my cartilage pierced in 2 different places, almost two years ago, also with a piercing gun and one of them healed perfectly but the other one infected pretty bad so I took the stud out :/ I plan on doing more piercings in the future but I'll definitely do them with a needle. *

  • I got my ears done with a gun and it was a sharp stud??

  • Thanx for this video dude. Very informative and I agree 100%. It is much smarter to get your ears done by a professional with a needle then to just get them done in a mall! I am thinking about becoming an Apprentice Piercer and this has helped me on my way.

  • my first 2 lobes at about the age of 5 with a needle. i don't quite remember how fast it healed, but i know that it was only momentary pain and 5 minutes after, it didn't even feel like i got them pierced.

i got my 5 gun ones(1 helix and 4 lobes) done at a spa and beauty boutique in a mall. they cleaned and sterilized everything. took about 1 month till my ears stopped hurting. they healed fine. it was just a pain in the ass for the first month.. no infection whatsoever. still say NEEDLES FTW!

  • Where are you out of homes ?

  • I will never ever get another piercing with a gun. I got an earlobe piercing with a gun about a month ago and it still hurts. I also got my Tragus done ove a year ago with a gun and I regret thAt even though its healed fine, cause I learnt you can go deaf. The chick that did it, did it in a really bad spot too. Sigh.

  • i definatly agree to this. my first ear piercing was with a sterilized needle, and it was smoothly inserted, no problems, but the ear piercing i got 2 weeks ago at claires with a gun, was irritated, and it got infected :( apperantly they did not sterilized properly, i mean how can they with the shitty plastic gun. :( needles are waaayyy better

  • piercing guns should be banned dont ever get a piercing done at a salon or beauty shop cos there CRAP

  • got ym cartilage pierced twice at claires....got keliods and fucked it up bothtimes. my friend had the same thing happen so she let it close up and went to a tattoo shop and got it pierced with a needle and isnt having any problems.

  • lmfao this made my giggle.

  • and to think i was gonna go to claire's to get my cartilage done

  • FUCKIN FUCK FUCK FUCK I AM SO ANGRY I GOT MY EARS PIERCED WITH A GUN ESPECIALLY THE CARTILAGE :@ Regrettt

  • i got my cartilage piercing with a gun last week, and now i'm scared... i'm 13 and i didn't know you can die from using a gun D: shall i go to the doctors? :(

  • @killermuffins09

I had my cartilage pierced with a gun. Like two years ago before I knew they were unsafe. Mine got irrated I took it out and it closed up. Now I just have excess (oops not enough emphasis) EXCESS scar tissue. Plus, depending on where you live it's illegal to pierce cartilage with a piercing gun. I say take it out, let it heal and get it redone later.

  • @killermuffins09

i got my cartilage peirced with a gun but it worked out fine.

but it hurted more when i did with a gun.

  • @killermuffins09 you'll be fine. I got my cartilage pierced with a gun more than a year ago before I found out that guns were bad. Just make sure you take extra care of your new piercing as it will be more prone to complications.

  • i got my cartilage piercing with a gun last week, and no i'm scared... i'm 13 and i didn't know you can die from using a gun D: shall i go to the doctors? :(

  • LOL I love how you're able to respond to the haters' comments very calmly. But yeah - got my first earlobe piercings done with a gun (I was 7 - didn't know a thing) and I remember they got infected pretty bad. Just got my second lobe piercings done 3 weeks ago using needle and no infection whatsoever (itched a little for the first few days and that's all). Yeah - GO NEEDLE! hope people will learn that GUN is EVIL. spread the word!

  • dude you are totally right needle is much better than gun

  • i agree but i have one problem, gun go way faster and don't slowly push it through.they also have a back thingy that works like a clamp.other than that you make a good point.I wish they had a gun you put the needle in, take the gun off and put the earring in, like a needle but with the quickness of the gun.

  • @midnigt2

Quickness? It takes a skilled piercer 30 seconds TOPS to push the needle through, follow it with jewellery and tighten the ball.

  • @midnigt2

A good piercer will do it very quickly and cleanly. There is never an excuse for doing any piercing with a gun.

  • @midnigt2

That's called a good piercer. Go to the right person, they do it fast. Needle in, out, jewelry in, done.

  • @midnigt2 if you find an experienced it will should still go very quickly. usually less time than it takes to breath out.

  • @midnigt2 If you have a piercer who knows what they are doing a needle should not go through slow what so ever. It should be one quick, precise, push and done. I agree a gun may be even faster than that but when you weigh they options of the safety of the needle compared to the gun, in all a few extra seconds is nothing if done correctly with a needle.

  • When I had my ears doubled pierced they used a gun ?

  • ahaha love it how you say; AMAZING *puts needle through* ahaha :D

  • AMAZING! wait wait wait... one more time... AMAZING!!!

  • Ugh. My mum took me to get my ears pierced with a gun when I was little.. had them done 3 times with it 'cause they would never heal properly and she couldn't figure out why.. Haaaa.

  • @xGiraffes , Cute name by the way. Any have you got your ear pierced since then?

  • Thanks for the demostration. So glad I go to a proper shop to get mine done. Just watching the stud go through a glove was enough to make me rub my ears in sympathy pain D:

  • I got my earlobe pierced for the first time today with a piercing gun, I got kinda scared when people said that piercing guns are bad. Will I not be able to get my earring out when it's time for it to come out?

  • @Konman804 you'll be fine.. I got my ears pierced fifteen years ago by a piercing gun.. Using needles rather than studs is just the better, more professional choice. Just try to twist the stud around every now and then.

  • @4plus2minus0

You're NOT supposed to move the jewelry, that is terrible advice.

  • @Konman804 You may not be able to. Mine got stuck and infected from it. I got my second ones done with needles and they healed beautifully other than your typical puncture wound pain as any piercing has. My earrings never embedded or got infected the second time.

  • There's more to it that just the sharpness. Piercing guns cannot be properly sterilized and they are typically re-used agin and again from one person to the next. A new earlobe piercing with a stud in it will not properly heal: the jewelry needs some room for movement and rotation that a ring would allow, while potentially infectious mattering will accumulate around a stud with no outlet for the piercing to "breathe" and cleanse itself.

  • @markincapemay hence the video description :P

  • @markincapemay but yes, I 100% agree.

  • @markincapemay Yes but are they piercing guns that use a cassete? In that case the stud pierces the ear and the gun does not have a needle..it just pushes it .That can be infectious...Am I wrong?

  • @markincapemay The cartridges they use are disposable

  • @markincapemay absolutely 100% correct. im glad someone actually knows what there talking about for once. you get a lot of idiots trying to say otherwise. and i love all the comments your getting how you dont know s***t. i been piercing for 7 years and that one of the very first things any good shop will teach you. there evil and a wast of body tissue.

  • Why does a gun have to be sterilized? If it's not coming into contact with the ear or the earring?

  • good video man. needles all the way. had my ear done wit ha gun as a kid, and 2 body piercings with a needle. the ear got infected....nipple and pa didnt....

  • some dumbasses here xD nice demonstration

  • Piercing guns are bad it's a crooked shot.

    Hollowed needle is GOOD.

  • its a good point though think about it before you insult

  • I really wanna get the cartilage of my ear pierced (was that sentence phrased right?) but people keep saying getting it done with a needle is safer. But unfortunatley for me i dont know of any places that pierce with needles. Everywhere I go that has peircing available (mostly stores or whatever; wal mart, claire's,) does it with a gun & stud. So since there is nowhere near me that does it with a needle should i just go ahead and do it their way? Btw does any of the stuff i just said make sense?

  • @Shaniktea OMG Please please PLEASE go get your cartilage done with a needle! Guns (while unsafe in their own right) are only meant to be used on lobes. A piercing gun can shatter your cartilage and permanently disfigure your ear. If you want to find an actual piercist, go to a tattoo parlor. Almost all tattoo parlors also do body piercing. Make sure they are on the up and up. A clean shop that uses an autoclave to sterilize instruments. Have them open the needles and tools in front of you.

  • @Shaniktea find a reliable tattoo/piercing studio. Check their portfolios and look around the shop. Ask to watch them pierce somebody. If they don't follow proper sanitary procedures (wearing gloves, washing hands, autoclaving tools and jewelry, etc.) don't go there. Find a place that is clean and you feel comfortable with. Any place like Claire's or Wal-Mart will use guns, and as the video demonstrated they are neither efficient nor sanitary.

  • @Shaniktea I hope that a month later I can still help you. Your problem is that you're looking in the wrong place. Big chain stores like Claire's and Walmart, will ALWAYS use piercing guns - this does NOT mean they are safe. You need an actual piercing studio, like where you would go to get your nose, lip, etc. pierced. The easiest way to find one is to ask friends with piercings where they got theirs, or to search Google. Please feel free to message me if you have more questions!!

  • @Shaniktea yeah it makes sense. just google piercing shops and you should be able to find places that do piercings i your area. sometimes they have professional ear piercers at tattoo parlors just make sure they are APP certified. don't do your cartilage piercing, or any other piercing for that matter, at walmart or claire's

  • all u people who say hes dumb hes not the gloves is supposed to be skin and hes showing u pretty much that studs are gay and needles rule but i dont u eaither i just bust out a small gauge like size 8 or 6 and pierce yeah u guys are jacks

  • dude u are just an ass who wants to make people frighten

  • @highvoltagewwe15 No, I'm just a piercing enthusiast who wants to educate people. Big difference.

  • @disfiguredxheart dude it worked im frightened

  • I always wondered why getting my cartilage pierced at piercing pagoda hurt more than than getting an industrial. WEIRD!

haha, good shit, thanks for the demonstration.

  • nice!!

  • piercings should be done by professionals not by mall rats with a gun.

  • thank you for this. very good

  • wow this is sooo truee thnx fo thee help:))

nd dnt isten to ppl dere jst lowlifes who jst hate

    on other ppl:))

    but thnx again!!!

  • u fukin dumb ass u dont kno shit

  • @ejm730

And you do? Please, share your insight on this topic (references are preferred), or continue looking like the uneducated illiterate individual you present yourself to be.

  • the guy is right and not only that but getting pierced with a gun through your cartilage, shatters it and takes more than the double the time to heal.Needles all the way :D

  • Piercing guns should be banned, they are brutal, unhealthy and really messes up folks' ears.

  • I fully support you on this piercing gun shit, I recently got my cartilage pierced with a gun and 5 days later my whole ear is completely fucked. Red, Swolen and when i say swollen i mean about twice the size. The stud has even embedded itself into my ear, which i removed and replaced with a ring. Painful shit, but please no body get pierced with a gun. Nasty objects.

  • hahaha "try it again....Ahmazing!"

interesting video!! I wish i got my lobe piercing done with a needle :[

stupid people from Claires but next time I'll definitely get it done with a needle.

  • Thank you! I don't understand why people can't seem to comprehend this. It's simple fact. Are they really that stupid or do they just want to ignore fact for convenience?

  • Its a good thing ears aren't made of latex :-P....In all seriousness though, I agree. Most people just go for the gun due to an unnatural fear of needles....and not guns...

  • @AnnieUlukou Tell that to muggers, you wont get far trying to rob someone with a needle.

  • Phenomenal example.

  • HAHAHAH ahhmazing

  • XD AMAZING

  • Ya. i guess you're right! LOL

  • I don't think he would have been stupid enough to use a regular, blunt ear stud for the comparison.

  • this video is pointless because studs are sharper than normal ones when you use a gun.

  • Considering the fact that I used a piercing stud - your comment is pointless.

  • @disfiguredxheart Can you help me please?

  • that is so TRUE

  • Haha. "amazing"

So true & great example :)

  • "amazing" haha

  • I've seen guns jam and get stuck a lot too, not to mention the idiots who will pierce through their gloves too then it's stuck on your ear.

  • @snakehands there are alot of those videos i laugh at them everytime. ive only seen 4 maybe 5 videos of parents taking thier children to piercing parlors and get it done right

  • 2 years ago i got my lobes pierced at claires and then a few months later they got infected :( claires is a cheap place to get ear pierced!

  • I've had three piercings at Claires and none of them got infected.

  • Ugh, you smart person, one of my stupid "friend" is getting her nose pierced today, announced it on facebook, and everyone told her "oh i hope you get it done wif a gun nt a needle" After about 3 of us told her all the risks. Stupid people

  • 'amazing'

  • uhhmazngg!

hhaha its funny and so true :)

  • damn i just got mine done again with a gun no infection but i almost wanna take them out and go to a tattoo shop : /

  • ughh i've gotten pierced w/ a gun it hurts . i've never gotten pierced w/ needle but i think i will this weekend so i'm happy ! and yeah the piercing i got with a gun (in my lobe) is like not even in the right place . its like reallly far away from my first hole , and my third (also with a gun) is realllly close to it . and now both of those holes get infected easily . lame :(

    i'm glad i found this video !

  • wish I knew about the needle thing before getting them pierced with a gun the other day. Your video made sense to me, but there's not much I can do about it now.

  • This should be an advert on tv!

  • haah! right on!

  • So wait please some advice I want to get my lip and ear pierced should I use a gun or a needle what should I do please?

  • Needle needle needle!!!

  • never use a gun for a lip piercing.

  • UM, don't do your lip yourself, dumbass

  • Thank you so much for this demonstration!!

Another point proven why guns suck and should be outlawed. >.> Not only do they ruin your lobes, tear, cause excessive scar tissue, and hurt like hell, you can't sterilize the gun itsself (though the studs may be). Imagine how dirty the guns are... and what diseases could be spread from them. Yuck!!!

  • men get pierced with studs:)

  • That has to be one of the most retarded things I've ever heard.

  • oh really im pretty sure you didnt hear it dumb ass. you read it whos the retard now?

  • Considering that you merely want to play stupid and argue semantics instead of offering rebuttal in regards to your original statement...I would say that you, in fact, are the retard.

  • so how can i get my ears pierced? i want to get them gauged but the only piercing people i know use guns?

  • you wanna go to a piercing shop.

and you can gauge them yourself by getting tapers, that's what I did & I'm currently at size 0.

  • Lmfao TocaMama10, owned! :L

  • THANKYOU for a great demonstration, it is so much easier for people to understand rather than try to explain!

  • This video is a wonderful, very simple demonstration of why needle piercings are the only way to go. This day and age there is no excuse to be gun pierced other than laziness. People who aren't willing to thoroughly research the piercing they are so desperate to have done.

And to the moron who said it takes "five minutes to get a needle through" that's a crock. I've never had a piercing in which it took any longer than a split second for the needle to pierce through the tissue.

  • Haha I love the comments saying "BUT ~PIERCING STUDS~ ARE SHARP ON THE END SO ITS TOTALLY THE SAME AND GUNS R BETTER!!" They're not sharp. They're only slightly pointed. Why don't you just take a fork and jab it through your ear lobe.. it's pretty much the same thing.

  • @jesuisfancy thanks man, now you made me remember the video of a guy that got a nipple piercing by hammering a fork, through his nipple, into a wood table.

But yeah, your right, if your gonna get a gun-made piercing you might as well force the stud through your ear by hand. It would be the same and it would be cheaper.

Getting my ears pierced in a few day, obviously with a needle.

  • sharper = less pain.

  • thanks for the information so now i know that the needle is going to be much safer and less painful than the danm gun.

  • Im glad you made this. I got my lobes pierced with a gun back in the day when most kids did (I was in 3rd grade when I got the first hole and 5th for the 2nd hole- went to Claires lol) but Id never go back. Im older and know better. I have 9 piercings now not including the lobes.

Simply- I wish more parents would take their kids to have it done the right way

  • i got mine done with a gun

it hurt but it turned out fine

i think the needle would have been way better though

oh you forgot to say amazing that last time lol

  • haha yer my idol.!!! im getting mine done with a needle but my freind is insisting guns are better which ino are deff not!!! i have used a gun before rushing into the piercing and it got infected sooo im now trying again with a needle....dumbass guns!!!!

  • When I got peirced with a gun it hurt like hell :( needles are better! :)

  • oh ya... i guess a quick prick hurts a lot more than sitting there for five minutes shoving a needle through your ear.... this is all bullshit... if u go to a professional with a gun, everything is sterile... if it got infected, it just means you took care of it wrong

  • The term "professional with a gun" is wrong. Any piercer who has gone through the necessary training and knows what they're doing will never use one. Needles are a lot better, and they don't take "five minutes shoving a needle through your ear." If you've ever been to a reputable shop, you would know this.

  • "if u go to a professional with a gun, everything is sterile"

Bullshit, i chalenge you to prove it.

  • 5 minutes with a needle? Wow, your level of retardation shocks me.

I have had several piercings done with needles. Even with things such as tragus and conch, which are way harder to get through than lobes, it goes through right away.

GUNS ARE NEVER STERILE, so don't even try to pull that. They cannot be autoclaved, end of story.

  • always have it done by needle no matter what its faster and easier

  • i wish i could of saw this video before i got my ears pierced (it was done with a gun!) plus it hurt! D:

  • same! when mine was done i was in so much pain! i wish i had seen this video and got a needle instead of a gun.

  • i had my nostril pierced with a gun, but i was naive and didnt know any better, now i can make sure i dont get anymore piercings with a gun, thanks! :)

  • sure, if you do it at home, a needle is better than a stud. but if you get it done with a gun, the point on the stud that goes through IS SHARP, and its done quickly, so it just pops right through. so yeah, studs are waaaay the fuck better if youre using a gun, which you should. so no, piercing guns dont = bad. you just equal = fucking stupid.

  • No, retard. The stud is not sharp enough. And guns aren't sterile 100% of the time, nor are they handled by professionals.

Yeah, I guess compared to a normal earring, the piercing studs are sharper. But compared to piercing needles they don't even compare. It's like trying to compare a butter knife with a surgical scalpel.

Don't talk about things you don't understand. You just end up looking stupid.

  • How someone can even think a piercing stud is sharper than a piercing needle is so beyond me, they've obviously never even SEEN a needle.

"compared to a normal earring, the piercing studs are sharper. But compared to piercing needles they don't even compare. It's like trying to compare a butter knife with a surgical scalpel."

Also, when I read that, I thought "it's like trying to compare a butter knife to a surgical scalpel when you're used to wearing spoons, haha. It's really that different!

  • You = Fucking Stupid....Dude in the vid, nice.Nice to see people posting videos that give the RIGHT INFORMATION...P.s...Amazing,lol.

  • You think piercing studs are sharp?

Do this little experiment for me will ya. Take a piercing stud (I'm assuming you haven't thrown yours away) and prick your finger with it. I'm betting you can't even make it bleed no matter how hard you prick it.

Pointed does not equal sharp. Now trying doing that same thing with a hollow point needle. You'll bleed, I can guarantee you that

  • @SkullandCrossbones94 lol the end in your comment was funny!! and that is soooo true!!

  • And now I have a brilliant reference to use then people disagree with me saying the gun is crap x]

    I salute you.

The gun is alot more painful. I had my lobes done when I was about 7 and the pain was unbelievable. I had my seconds done last year with a needle and i couldnt even feel it :S

  • You sir. Are my hero.

Thank you for posting this for the ignorant souls of the world.

  • Thank you! More people who understand the idiocy of piercing guns. Not only do they cause trama to your ear, they are horribly unsterile.

You have become very high up on my list sir. Keep teaching those ignorant children. :)

  • i got mine done with a needle the guy who did my ear even told me that the gun is no good

  • LOL at the person who mentioned "sharing needles." Bahaha. I had my lobes gunned at Claire's as a kid [but hey, didn't everyone?] and they got infected all the time 'cause of the crappy cleaning solution and even crappier jewlery. Now I'm going to go get my lobes done with a hollow 10G needle, yay!

Piercing guns really piss me off, especially when I see helix, other cartilage, and nostril piercings being done with them. Gross.

  • I am SO glad I watched this video. I'm planning to get my ears pierced soon and I didn't realize how bad gun piercing is.

  • hahahaha lets try that again

  • AMAZING! HAHA. *TRUE*

  • im glad i got my shit done with a gun now.......FACCCKKKK

  • haha i did mine with a stud..

    haha

i feel bad for my poor ears now :P

  • The sad thing is, is that this is NEEDED. People need this dumbed down step by step.

    BAN GUNS!

  • Thanks, it's so true.

  • AMAZING

  • yea i watched this after i got my ears gun pierced now my right ear is throbbing like a mofo

  • AMAZING lol ur cool =]

  • ok so...for my nose piercing i have to use a needle!

    thanks!

  • Gun piercings in general are bad, but on a nose is especially bad.

  • Thanks man, you just saved my life.

  • lmao again.. "amazing" hahahaha nice video :D

  • yess

    i dont use anything but

  • how about needles in cartiladge?

  • Definitely not. It's even worse.

  • you mean better than a gun in cartilage

  • I must've been off that day haha.

    Needles are fine for cartilage.

Needles are always better than guns period.

  • heheh it happens, great demonstration

  • lol i'm pretty sure piercing your cartilage with a gun is illegal now.

    but i could be wrong

  • no. you are def. right.

  • in some places there are still no laws on piercings at all sadly
