This explains why I wouldn't want to be an airbus pilot, the plane does everything for you. I would want to be the one flying it, not a computer! Also, this may be a matter of opinion, but I would find a yoke easier to use than a control coulmn.
@MegaEvilToaster A new Boeing works exactly the same with flight management computers and electronics and fly-by-wire controls. The stick instead of yoke and anti-stall system are the only two major differences with an Airbus.
So tired of uneducated Boeing fanboys that have no idea what they're talking about.
I can quite easily imagine Bruce at the controls of a Jumbo jet going into a death dive tail spin over the Himalayas whilst simultaneously battling with a sword some Al Qaeda hijackers and singing “Run To The Hills” to his passengers; stopping occasionally to comment on the technical construction and dynamics of the song.
@brunocoelhobass Because all this "crap" cannot work without speed indication, which was not possible at the time due to the fact the the pitot tubes - small tubes which indicate the airspeed were malfunctioning, due to super cool liquid water. Might want to watch a documentary on what cause the AF447 to crash, before making dumb accusations of how the FBW did not help AF447. If anything, the pilot's lack of training caused the crash.
@brunocoelhobass You're obviously too ignorant to understand that if the pilot was properly trained, this would've never happened. There is never a single point of failure. If something were to happen to an airliner. You obviously know rats about aviation, stating a single point of failure was the case. There was never just one failure which brought an airliner down. The computer did it's job, the pilots didn't do theirs.
@brunocoelhobass The FBW is made to protect the plane from pilot error. In the case of AF447 it was not working due to the malfunction of the speed indicators. The pitot tubes were not capable of de-frosting the ice, if they were ever to be iced. Airbus knew about it, and were working on replacing on faulty pitot tubes. A series of highly unlikely events happened which caused the frosting, and no system, doesn't matter how good it is, is to function without one of it's main parts working.
I remember fencing practice at University of Miami in the mid-1980s and Dickinson would take a break from recording in Nassau and come practice with us.
A side-stick or sidestick controller is an aircraft control column (or joystick) that is located on the side console of the pilot, usually on the righthand side, or outboard on a two-seat flightdeck. Typically this is found in aircraft that are equipped with fly-by-wire control systems.
@metaltera86 Paul Bruce Dickinson (born 7 August 1958) is an English singer, songwriter, airline pilot, fencer, broadcaster, author, screenwriter, actor and marketing director, best known as the lead vocalist of the heavy metal band Iron Maiden.(Wikipedia)
My point is Boeing lets the Pilots to fly past the planes envelope, Scarebus doesn't do that the computer prevents them from doing that. A prime example is the Fedex DC-10 (flight 705), it was attempted to be taken over but, the F/O who was Ex-navy used his training her got in the navy and pushed the DC-10 to do things it wasn't designed for. Airbus the flight envelope protection cannot be overridden completely, but with Boeing the flight crew can override the flight envelope limits
@VFA103JollyRogers Not at all.. i like Airbus but still love Boeings and have full respect and confident for them .. dont have a need to put mock Boeings, MDs, Bombardiers, Tupolevs, you name ir
@VFA103JollyRogers Actually, you can switch all the computers off in an Airbus and it reverts to Direct Law which makes you able to do whatever you like in the Airbus
@323tiim no doesent its only like that if you break it down into sepperate words. other then that its not funny, infact i think the name Bruce is frickin awsome! and he is the greatest singer ever!

@Juankinator They are testing the aircraft to see how it handles when it stalls. There are a few different conditions under which an airplane can stall but what you see them doing here is a landing stall. So called because when the airplane is on approach to landing it has its gear and flaps down. In a real emergency if you stall on approach it is very dangerous b/c you are at low altitude and might crash into the terrain. That's why you practice this maneuver at a higher altitude.
The A320 may have all the fancy avionics bells and whistles, but as Bruce says, he's still a Boeing man. On Airbus systems, it's just information overload and a lot of unnecessary fluff.
