why do you think the q6700 is still more expensive then the q9550? because the 6700 might throw off more heat in the case but still is a better overclocker! been there done that !
had this mobo since april 2009 bought it from tiger, running a QX6700 with a T1 thermaltake all copper fan with 2 x4870s in crossfire gddr4 512s have it at 3.912ghz very stable , viper patriot ram just the pc6400 but i have that also over 1044mgz too , all in a applo NZXT case ,have it runnig off a corsair TX 750 WATT the one that has one 12volt rail with 60 amp.having got to marry it with raid 0 or raid 01 yet , but we will see.i had this etup with a q9550 and didnt get the oc that i have now.
If you are an overclocker...... You .. need to stop dicking around and finally start using computers for useful things, you know, what they where made for. Anything, Image editing, animation, 3d, music, whatever. Just do something.
Not knowing what to do does not mean that you have to push hardware to the brink of destruction.
yeah thats why the construktors like intel and nvidia is trying to make them better for overclocking... even the companies is overclocking to get the fastest ever CPU...
Like what ? Rendering ? A renderfarm is cheaper !. Critical number crunching ? Real handy if you rig is on the brink of collapse due to overheating !
It has no use or added value.
The performance gain is laughable and easily, and often more cheaply, surpassed by clusters.
The ONLY application that are specifically for over-clocked systems are benchmarks and over-clock application used to read out the numbers before the CPU blows.
There is NO use for a Nitro cooled gaming rig what so ever.
Overclocking your hardware will get you a faster system for the same price. Better price/performance... Especially when hardware like this is BUILT for overclocking and high performance hardware.
The benefits of overclocking means you can render images and animation faster, faster 3D graphics..... Stop moaning and use your computer for whatever, and let people who enjoy overclocking and getting a bargain get on with it!
@buzzin92 1. Fun breaking perfectly good gear ? Strange hobby
2. Perhaps finding a challenge is more fun
3. Seeing as you dramatically shorten the life span so this easy stuff is clearly not worth it.
Also, in several observations I have noticed that, generally, the "overclocker" do not need or use the trivial increments of speed they gain by turning their system into a egg boiler windtunnel. And games do not really benefit from unstable systems.
Breaking perfectly good gear? considering the "gear" is designed for that sort of application, how is it breaking it. only amatuers who havnt a clue in what there doing will end up damaging components. and actually overclocking isn't dramatically shortening the life span, that will only happen if your dangerously over volting a component and is not within optimal temperatures. and dont give me a lecture about it because iv had a P4 overclocked at 4GHz for 4 years now.
@buzzin92 I'll lecture all I want !. You are kidding yourself.
What would you want to be running a P4 for at this day and age ? Quickly, turn that monstrosity off before you melt the powergrid !. the P4 is a piece of performance garbage. Making it run faster only makes it more inefficient more quickly !
Also don't expect me to crown you "king hardware" on the mere basis of some minor overclocking abilities.
As I said the only real measurable effect of clocking is purely between the ears.
and what says that overclocking is unstable? its only unstable if its pushed too far and the overclocker not testing it correctly, if at all, to see if is infact stable and within optimal temperatures. overclocking is probably the best way to get your money's worth out of a system instead of blowing away hundreds for an upgrade in the next couple of years, thats my main reason for an overclock.
@buzzin92 Suckertash. Stability issues are frequent in overclocked systems. Even IF your overclocked system seems stable and survives for that long, which indicates that the boost has been minimal ( and the subsequent performance gain neglectable) you'd loose the money you think you'd save by power consumption alone at least 2 fold. on top of that you should count the idiotic methods needed for cooling.
@ghostgaffdeck08 You obviously wear high heels and a pink tutu. You obviously like to prance around like a fairy with angle wings strapped to you back. It is also quite obvious, to me, that your grasp on reality is just about, albeit slightly below, on par with the average slug.
Do you even have an inkling on what the word "obviously" in a sentence represents ? Obviously you do not, because you are an obvious feather brain.
Random people you disagree with are obviously likely to be correct.
@ghostgaffdeck08 That would seem appropriate advice, good guess. However, I really do not care what you do with your feeble existence. On that basis I chose not to dispense said advice to you. But you are on the right track.
If a life, however, is not within reach for the likes of you, you might just opt for the second best thing, which is "do something usefull you slobchild and Stop dicking around".
@ghostgaffdeck08 I do think it rational to suspect that your previous comment was more of a concern for you, seeing as you are a kid that, at the "about me" section of his page, lists the specs of your, rather mediocre, frankenstein-pc rig. If that is all that is to be said about you, then you really seriously lack anything remotely resembling "a life"
@retepvosnul since when did you have a say in anything on this planet, you are a worlthless piece of shit on the end of my shoe. And i'd see many agree with me
@ghostgaffdeck08 What does that even mean ? The ranting inside your head do not really make sense in the real world. Perhaps some meaningful logic and structure would help normal people understand what you are trying to convey. Not this random rage and gibberish, you type as if steam is coming from your ears. At least you use your ears for something. Perhaps typing in ALL CAPS is something for you. Sure enough you have been more then reluctant using them.
@retepvosnul Your mindless drivel aside. All this is, of course, is your young dumb ass disagreeing with my.. well experienced ass. You are, somehow, mad that I can not really be amazed by your skill with, what essentially boils down to, playing with (electro) technic Lego. Clocking is essentially building a Lego piece by following the manual and subsequently making the motor run faster by strapping on a bigger battery, breaking your Lego in the process.
yeah its a very good board , i got mine from tiger aswell , with q6700 ,8 gigs of viper ram. running windows 7 7600 build x64 ,only thing is i can only get a stable 3.4ghz ,thats just using the DOT not the bios ,but the retards on overclock web site want me to pay for the exact settings , fuck that
5gb of ram and a duel core processer i dont really need to upgrade so i agree it is a great thing to have but if u have a atleast decent motherboard i dont see the point of upgrading
crack your case open look inside and see if there is a motherboard model number though if your asking this you will probably be better off taking your pc over to a teck shop
I bought this motherboard for my new PC a week ago and i'm happy with it. Runs very cool. I get 30 Celsius all the time. I'm not an overclocker but I've managed to get 3.4 GHz with my Q9550 without voltage increase. After that i returned the clock speed to normal because I'm kind of guy who doesn't want to force components above their normal speeds :)
I purchased this board in late Oct... the hardware is impressive and will overclock like CRAZY... if only they'd release a functional bios. I can only get from a stock 2.5ghz Q9300 to 2.6ghz with the 1.5 bios (this is the current version, FSB/DRAM ratio is broken and causes boot crashing). On the 1.4 bios I could get to 3.1ghz, but the bios wouldn't apply any changes to the VCORE (or any other voltage)... as the bios was broken. (So I couldn't go beyond 1.18 volts)
Looks great I want to upgrade from my ASUS P5K-E and this looks nice depending on price that is. Got my E8400 2 days ago and stressing at 3.6GHz 400x9 at 1.176v 3 hours so far.
