Do you not understand the difference between nationality and ethnicity? Of course she's Iranian, but she's originally from the Azeri parts of Iran. You can be both at the same time if you hadn't noticed. I am also Azeri, but my nationality is IRANIAN.

I got the info: The series was called Talaagh and Gogoosh was in it as well as singing the title song. The writer, director and lead actor was Massoud Assadolahi who still has a show on TV in LA. There is a new version of Talaagh that Gogoosh sings that is always on satellite TV in Iran and there are clips from her old performance, not the movie though.

This title of this song is called "Tallagh" which translates to "Divorce" in English. In Iran, this was the theme song for a TV show, and it basically tells the tale of two people who decide to go in separate directions in their lives -- and there's at the end a chance for reconciliation. Googoosh sings this today in her concerts to speak of many Iranians who are now "divorced" from their native land of Iran and living abroad. And yes, she emphasises a reconcilation or return at the end! :)
