Hey, i've got the same model and was also thinkin of keeping it inside but was worried about the stink and any potential escapees...have these been issues? also, are you any relation to Jimi? I reckon he'd be well into vermicompost! peace
no not use newspaper with dye in it only use black and white newspaper and dont put like tomato or orang skins becouse the acid hurts the worms all others a good
My husband and I are considering buying that same model from Happy D Ranch and are interested to know how your worm farm is going. Any chance of a status update?
I have that exact worm bin in the video. It works great, no smell, but I would advise you to start with 1000 to 2000 worms. They start off slow but in time will consume an amazing amount of food as they multiply. After a month or so, look for small greenish balls in the soil. These are worm eggs.
So that's why. Thank you. Now I know that the reason you put newspaper in strips. I had been debating if ripping them up smaller, would make it compost faster, because it would be smaller. However, now I know to do it in strips, because it improves their mood by weaving in and out of the newspaper. Leaves are shorter, but are also structurally different, so to correct the environment, they need strips of newspaper.
I also think they like newspaper at least 10 times more than cardboard.
Compost Tea? Sounds delicious.

cool little video- show us some more....
I already made my worm bin.. so i don't have a video. But they seem to be happy and are busy eating fruit peels, egg shells and coffee grounds.
Thanx!
