  • He's no Toss Panos. But he may have just been filling in.

  • Yep for sure I'm a big fan of Robin Ford but Iv'e been a pro a long time and I agree with the other comment about the drummer. Don't mean negative, because in our game it is hard enough anyway certainly in mod jazz and blues.

Here the drummer is way off base. A bigginer really with little Idea.

A drummer like this would't even make first base in most bands set up like this.

Robin must know?May be no one else was available or the money wasn't too good, ha ha

  • @sopwithcamels266 It sounds bad, but part of that is the quality of the recording--which is really bad. But it sure sounds like nepotism to me. I've been a fan of Ford for a long time and the playing on that live album with Witherspoon is so incredible all around, that this is all pretty disappointing... frankly including Robben's soloing. He's such a great player with a phenomenal resume (Joni, Miles, Harrison, Witherspoon, etc.!), but with his own band, he's always disappointed me.

  • I searches out these vids cuz Im playing in a band that does some Robbin Ford and on the recordings they gave me to learn the songs the drummer was cookin! and I wanted to see it in action. This is really bad! Although I am not on any recordings with them yet the band is over at, fiveyarddog (dot) com

  • Cool to see Robben playing a tele. Sounds great!

  • It´s not too kind to say this, but I don´t like the drummer, he doesn´t have the performance skills to be playing with Robben Ford and the way he plays this tune is really far from what it should be. Maybe Robben´s drummer was sick in bed or something...I don´t know if he is a brother or what but this drum performance is completely dead.

  • Yeah, the guy is Gabriel Ford, his nephew, apparently. Maybe there's some nepotism going on...For the most part, I was listening to Robben, and also the bass player, who was pretty tight.

  • The drummer is Patrick Fords son Gabe, and the bass Dwyane uses is called a Zon.hope that helps

  • Yeah that was it, not brother but nephew...d'oh! thanks for the update, and the info on the bass, too! a lot of guys have been asking about it... jd

  • Hey the drummer was Robben's brother, if I remember correctly. In one of the other clips I posted a comment about his brother playing drums (as there was a drum solo).

  • nooooo, its def not robbens brother, lol, he has long white hair and is a lot slimmer....and older

  • yeah, it's his nephew...I have been corrected, I remember it now, as Robben said who he was...but I got my facts wrong... thanks. jd

  • Fantastic!!!

    Grandma Mary

  • Whose the drummer on this clip? it's not Novak is it? also anyone know who's playing with him in SF at the Independent?

  • Hey the drummer was Robben's brother, if I remember correctly. In one of the other clips I posted a comment about his brother playing drums (as there was a drum solo).

  • Oops, I should have also mentioned that the drummer is Robben's nephew, Gabriel, who wrote the tune Too Much which I think is one of your other clips. (just trying to help :-))

  • Oh, that's great man, thanks for the update. I'll correct the post. jd

  • Great video. Although the song is from the Supernatural album, the title of the song is actually 'Nothin' to Nobody'.

  • Okay, thanks. I'll change the posting title.

  • What type of bass does Dwayne have? i really want to know

  • Sorry, I can't tell you. I was too far away to see it. It looks like a custom rig, however, maybe a 5 or 6 string model. And it had a great sound live, which unfortunately is not reproduced well in the videos.
