Do you know what a strong impact on American race relations this could have. If you and a group of other oversea english teachers got together a pitch the idea for TV reality show to lets say Viacom International owner of MTV BET CARTOON NETWORK blah blah people would watch. That would promote way more foreign exchanges and cultural bridges in two seasons then you would imagine. South Korean tourism would make a noticeable increase
@tichic Beautiful Day by The Vitamin String Quartet (they're great...they do covers of top 20 songs but all with orchestral strings) you should check them out on itunes!!
@joegomedia It's a little harder for any foreigner to date a Korean woman, just because the culture is so homogeneous that any mixing could still seem a little taboo to people who are more traditional. That being said, I don't think you can help who you fall in love with. You just have to treat her like a woman, not a "Korean woman".
My brother was there and a few Korean men were trying to marry their daughters off to my brother. And he already has a wife and he's African american.
Nice job with the videos! I taught in Korea (Suwon, E.C.C.) back in 2002, and did the same hike in the summer (hot and BIG BUGS!). I worked with a black guy from North Carolina named Will :) - he also had some interesting experiences being black in Korea (none bad - just breaking perceptions for many :) I LOVED my experience in Korea, and hope to return some day.
Hey I'm a black male also from NC. Where did you both work? I'm having a little difficulty getting a job in South Korea and I have a feeling it's race related.
I wouldn't say racist (strawberryseeds92)but almost definitly judgemental ova black people. They just don't like if you date or marry, but friends is ok, sumtymes.
lol!! yeah that joint was intense....thanks for the love!
Korea's still great!! my school just started a new term and I just celebrated a birthday, I really still can't believe it'll all be over in 5 months...
Hey I know you must be really busy, but I'm in the process of applying to teach in Korea and wanted to know if you went through a specific recruiter or just applied through job postings? Also did you get TEFL certified, if so was it helpful?
Omgosh, the view is so beautiful! I laughed so hard when you were showing the part about you climbing the stairs. I remember when I hiked up at Diamond Head in Waikiki. 100 steps and I was already DYING yo! I can't imagine doing what you did. But I'm so proud! You shed a little tear too, hahaha :]
I haven't gotten any bad experiences as of yet and I'm 8 months in...I've encountered literally 2 dirty looks but that pales in comparison to all of the great experiences I've had with Korean strangers both young and old...
I live near Jongro which is the center of Seoul. And i see black people like once every year. we just dont know about black people. all we know is the image from hollywood movies. in the movies black people = drugs/robbery/guns. this is not the image that we created. so I feel unfair if you felt dirty looks.
Hopefully seeing President Obama will start to change some of those views portrayed in the media all around the world...and give people some more positive references.
Yes! definetly president obama has given me alot of good views about black people. I hope this continues and change many thing for black people. no matter where you are there always be nice and not nice people. I just hope you have good nice in Korea and have good memories when you go back to the states.
woah, congrats on doing such a long hike. you have great music in your videos, and depict a foreigner's life in korea the way i hoped to see it before i stumbled these :). i'm definitely not as hesitant to go as i once was.
Dope video man, im not really a nature person but seeing this video does make me want to go there to see the landscape. Im puttin this one in my notebook to visit if i get the chance when i go to korea once again respect man enjoy your time there and keep them vids comingg !!!!
i really love ur video it makes me more sure that i want to study in korea because u seem really happy there. i heard so many stories about how they sometimes treat non koreans badly but u seem really happy. wow good for u climb that mtn. i love ur choice in music.
Wow that is an experience of a lifetime. Make more videos, man. It is good to see black people doing things the majority would never think of doing. I'm about to teach in Japan for a year soon, and although you are in Korea I will keep watching your videos because it gives inspiration. Also you have very good taste in music. Love it!
touching video man, great job!

Those are Korean squirrels. They're like a mix between american squirrels and chipmunks.
